Yea, it was funny how so many people thought that Acie wasn't into him, when in reality she has never been the issue, Arther was the only one preventing the relationship from progressing. The biggest giveaway was when the guy with the reputation for being friendzoned freaked out and denied it when Acie "leaked" by saying "Arther and I are dating". He even joked later on that he was dating Acie but immediately denied it again before she could ever say something. After hearing this story it became incredibly clear that he was afraid of having to deal with a long distance relationship again, and he was pushing her away to prevent theirselves from getting too attached. This is probably why he was so hesitant to answer yes when Acie asked him if he wanted her to come back. It also explains why he was so pushy about trying to get her to skip spending the holidays with her family to stay in Texas. I think her saying that they were dating was her way of confessing to him, since it was supposed to be her last day. By saying that it gives Arther an easy way to confirm the relationship, and even if he denies it, her saying that signals that she is open to dating him.
