I was an Officer at The Bank when Sam was there. Basically this is therapy for me. Like you both said go home and drink. It got to the point that I was going to work not to drink. As for speaking to my wife after 120 lads pecking your head all day between 2 staff..... I'm still suffering today. This channel is helpful and is saving my mental heath. This is a true story

After finishing a 6 year sentence ( 4 years in ) on day of release I signed parole papers and went to parole office. Standard conditions ( 1 being i stayed at the nominated address) as I was homeless I had to go to the local center , none of this was arranged pre release, and guess what I was told we can’t help you all we can do is give you a sleeping bag . I called my parole officer and told them to recall me as I was in breach of my parole. After 5/6 weeks I was placed in a homeless unit . Stuff like that gives LTP’s no chance of rehabilitation

The government have a DUTY OF CARE for the population as it taxes the hind legs from us iam sure there's enough in the pissing pot to pre arrange prisoners hostels or bed and breakfasts they so commonly use these days as they sold most of the local housing stock throughout the last 30-40 years by allowing council tenants to buy the property they live in at a reasonable price
And yes it's helped millions of people become home owners including myself but they took our money and never built any more houses after that! The biggest crisis in this country is homelessness
      And affordable housing for everyone

This was a fascinating vlog. Paul absolutely nails the case for public sector prisons and removing the profit motive from incarceration. If the State arrests you (Police) and the State prosecutes you (CPS) and the State sentences you (Judge) then the State should imprison you (Public sector prisons). Private sector jails should be returned to the public sector. The Prison service should have an increase in starting salary and overall wage scales. This would reduce corruption and increase retention. The old pension restored again improving retention and leading to an increase in officer numbers and experience levels on the landings. Retirement age reduced to 60. There should be a limit on the number of female staff in male jails. This would reduce shagging and it's inevitable consequence of corruption. Safer jails make for a safer society.

I’ll tell you what… Every story I hear about what life is like in the prisons exactly mirrors what it’s like for nursing staff in hospitals and care homes. I’m an RGN, 22 years in the profession. It’s been like it since I qualified. I was in a major acute NHS hospital and now work in a complex mental health care home. I spend the first hour of my shift sorting staffing issues. It’s borrowing from Peter to pay Paul and morale is at an all time low. I know nurses all over the country and they’re leaving in their droves. The positions aren’t being filled, never mind the fact that those coming in don’t have the skills needed. Everything seems to come down to money and budgets but they always have money for the managers and yet it’s the people on the shop floor who are the ones who suffer. The only difference between POs and Nurses is that if we are injured, we are told to suck it up and get over it..”it comes with the territory”!! 😠 No wonder nurses, police and prison officers get to a breaking point and end up with major mental health issues. I’m almost at that stage…..I’ve had enough of all the shit and politics. No one listens and it never gets better.

If you’ve got weak and or incompetent management with people then your screwed at the operational front line. (no pun intended). Where’s the support from the POA? What are MOJ doing to address the issues that front line operational staff are raising. It’s no wonder the so called prison service has a recruitment and retention problem.

I take my hat off to hard working, professional Prison workers like you two but I can see why you're both out of it now.
It must be one of the most frustrating, dangerous and unrewarding jobs you can do - no respect from the prisoners, constantly looking over your shoulder, trying to keep a lid on the chaos, having your hands tied with what you can do and how you can do it due to bureaucracy and red tape, incompetent and unfit colleagues employed to tick boxes and reporting to seniors who are either over-paid robots in suits who haven't got a clue what they're doing as they've come from an entirely business background or obnoxious bully's who act more abhorrently than most prisoners but never face any consequences... Plus you're at constant risk of getting attacked, stabbed, killed, having feces and urine thrown at you or contracting HIV or Hep C all for £25,000 a year, if you're lucky... honestly I'd rather rip my toenails out.
Rishi Sunak is supposedly raising the salary for Prison workers amongst others in this budget but there are far greater issues that they face than low pay as you two suggest.
Enjoy your retirement fellas and keep making the videos Sam, you were and still are one hell of a screw.
