That is the most powerful version of this song that anyone has sung in a long time.... just brilliant. Like a perfect performance of Hamlet, it leaves me stunned!
@RealMartialNova This song has nothing to do with communism. It was sung during the Tsarist days, long before turn of the century. A cursory search would have told you that.
Maynor's voice is extremely vibrant, and therefore difficult to record. Sometimes some bluntness and harshness comes through in his records that isn't apparent in person (trust me) during his live performances. Robeson's voice in general was warmer and more round. But remember Robeson typically used microphones from the early 1930s on. In Maynor's voice, the vibrancy that can seem rough under close miking simply makes it carry further without amplifiication
I can remember in the late 1960's singing this song in primary school. Our teacher played a vinyl record of this song around every 2-3 weeks and the whole class sang along. She had the words hanging down from the blackboard in the front of the class. I love this version of the song.
ruclips.net/video/SRe1dsXs6_s/видео.html&ab_channel=TheOktavismChannel The deep voice at the end in this one, is some of the lowest I've heard. It sounds lower than an old ships fog horn.
@@doopdoopdopdop7424 Bitch said Paul Robeson was the "original" you do know russians made this song yes? Go look up russian versions of the song BOOM deeper such as Mikhail Zlatpolosky or Vladimir Miller Even Glib Chandrowsky you're welcome
You've done better than Paul Robeson on this song! Black Lives Matter - keep Robeson's tradition going and remind folks how the great Robeson had to struggle. Kevin......... I'm nearly 70: My Dad saw Robeson performing live in Wales, it must have been after WW2? Robeson was welcomed by the Welsh Miners after rejection by the US in the McCarthy era for his Politics - socialist, and black.
This has become one of my favorite renditions of The Volga Boatmen.
Have you heard glen miller's version?
@@victormanuelcorpeno1095 we do not speak of that one.
When he started singing in russian I was caught by surprise. Such good pronounciation. And amazing voice, of course!

Full, rich sound! The timbre of his voice is dark and majestic with the kind of power you expect to hear from a profundo!
Is it not baritone?
@@alexarias5717are you crazy thinking he is a baritone lmao?😂
@@jewski_boi idk anything about the registers lmao chill 😅
My god... amazing voice.
I've heard this song sung by male voice choirs, but one man with such a powerful voice gives it that much more gravitas.
Какой потрясающий голос! Божественное исполнение.
Интересно ! Первый раз слушал голос потрясающий!!!
I was hoping to see a comment in Russian!
Honestly the purest rendition.

Мощно. Интересно бы послушать Славное море священный байкал
Wonderful. Paul Robeson's recording remains my favourite but this is still wonderful.
Amazing Kevin! You reach the heart and soul of this music in every way.

Beautifull voice
Fantastic sound ..... a cavernous roar!
Glorious.
Wonderful bass.
Wonderful voice and great singing!
Excellent. Excellent. Excellent
I wish that I could find this on itunes
I didn’t think a voice could get lower then the original....
I didn’t think anyone could be as deep voiced as Paul Robeson.

Great! Very nice. Bravo!
Nobody can defeat the glorious voice of Paul. For he is the master of singing such a glorious song
Lh
Kharitonov would be proud.
Such a rich voice...
Reminds me of Paul Robeson!🙏🙏
Boom 💥!!
Maestro!
BRAVO......
Meine Stimmlage. So super gesungen. Ich habe versucht die Noten in der Tonlage zu bekommen. Leider ohne Erfolg
Lovely voice.
astounding
😊❤️
Where can I get a recording of this
I did not expect that from a non Russian speaker. Hollywood actors don't sound this fluent after hundreds of hours of elocution.
Molodetz
well, opera singers vs hollywood actors.
Does anyone know if there is sheet music out there for the song in this key?
Very good interpretation , just lack a powerful choir in order to be epic
I love the Red Army choir version, but I also like the more personal-sounding versions too. They are also better to sing along with while I work!
I thought why his russian is so good but he studied in Russia in Bolshoi theater such an unordinary choice but he is an unordinary person.
good but nothing beats Leonid
Yes
When Sergei gets sent to the Gulag
Good Stuff!
The voice of God .
Robeson should have become a Russian Patriot ❤
A pure proletario song

What does black lives have to do with a great Slavic song? Please keep your disgusting politics out of art!
Although he’s done a great cover he can never no will they ever be ever a singer that can sing a song better than the great man PR

Fuck communism! Glory to the Russian Empire and Russian People!
when God talks !
Interesting... Black man singing in Russian about Volga men...
Not like that never !
Black Hitler sang this amazingly well 👏👏👏
sranje!
