I play this at least 6 times a week..the saxophone is just amazing and the guys sound better than records...goosebumps every time..1970s and these songs are 50 years old and been privileged to remember and lived through these wonderful years..❤❤
The original Chi-Lites were the Golden crown on American and 20th century culture. They should be an example for all modern music theory and appreciation.
So smooth like silk! Dreamy lyrics , they were one my favourite groups . Ah the good old days , we were so young/impressionable/ innocent etc. I’m glad II was part of that era. Linda
My Home town Brothers. O saw them several times over the years. But I will never forget the first time. As a 12 yr old at a Furniture store on Halsted Street in Chicago Thier early years 😊❣❣
You probably dont care but does anyone know a method to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would love any help you can offer me.
My favorite group growing up. Seen them @ the famous Apollo theater numerous times. Rest in paradise to the ones no longer in the land of the living 🙏❤️
That would have been lead singer Eugene Record that you saw singing this song : the Letter". Back in 73 in Uk. He has passed on now and this is Marshall Thompson doing the song. With Frank Reed, Tara Thompson ( Marshall's wife) Squirrel Lester,..... Eugene had a magnificent voice and it was a sad day when the music world lost him. He is missed. Thank God we can still see and hear him on vinyl and video. 🎶💕🎶
Frank Reed did a fine job of singing Eugene's songs. So did Squirrel Lester. Marshall coul f sing but none could take Eugene's place. They just kept the group and his songs alive. Marshall is only one left. Red Jones. Squirrel. Frank Reed all passed on. Just Marshall and his wife Tara Henderson are left.
Frank Reed was a verrrry good 👍🏿 friend off mine!!!! He was at my house 🏡 everyday, except when he had to go out off town to sing 🎤. I really miss my friend/brother, he knew my whole family. We used to sing together, have fun together, he was just an all around nice guy & May I add a very “handsome guy”. I wanted him to sing 🎤 at my mother’s funeral, but he was too sick 🤕 to travel 🧳. Little did I know when I returned home from my mother’s he would be “gone also”, he died on my “birthday”. “My mother died on. Valentine’s Day”. I had to turn back around & go to another “funeral, what a sad 😢 time it was for me. Losing my “mother & my best friend all in the same month”. But that’s life!! We all have to travel that road one ☝🏿 day. Just make sure that you are straight with “TMH YAH”. 🎉, I will always love ❤️ you Frankie Lane”, that’s the pet name I gave him when he came into my life, he loved 🥰 that name. Good bye my friend, until we meet again, someday in “Glory”.❤❤❤❤
Wth my sincere condolences to you for the loss of your mother and also for your friend frank he had a beautiful voice he covered Eugene very well, I hope his family see the beautiful words that you said about Mr Frank Reed Rest Easy to all of the Fallen Chillites may they continue to rest in paradise we yur fans love you Then Now And Forever.😍😍
@Emmanorwood” Thank you 🙏🏿 so much for the kind words about my “mother & Frank Reed, (aka) Frankie Lane”. I think 💭 about him every day, & my mom”, I miss them both sooo much. He also was a “self taught artist”, he could draw ✍️ anything, just by looking at a picture. He did an oil painting 🖼 of my “grandmother”, it looked just like 👍🏿 her. He drew one ☝🏿 off me & my sister, every time I look 👀 at those painting 🖼, I think about him. We took so many pictures together, he had a beautiful 🤩 “wife & a handsome son”. Thank you 🙏🏿 again for comment.🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Frank Reed was another singing Brother bless you baby and squirrel to im not forgetting all the Brothers of the Chi-lites Rest Easy My Brothers Love Yall RIP
You mean Russell Thompkins Jr lead singer of Stylistics and Ted magic Mills of Blue Magic? Yup yup...5 of the greats along with Eugene and William Poogie Hart.
Saw them sing this number at the end of there show in Rebbecas Birmingham UK about 72/73 i think.I have never seen such big affro hairstyles. They sung it very seriously and still brings it all back when i hear the opening chords.
That is Frank Reed singing lead after Marshall Thompson did the narration of the letter. Mr Robert " squirrel " Lester on far left... I cant see if Tara Henderson is singing in the back. Picture too dark. She is Marshall's wife. You have to hand it to them, they can still sing those Eugene songs and keep the group going. LOVE IT! 🎶🎤🎶
Thanks for that Nancy you obviously know your music. The only name i recall from that concert in 73 was Eugene Record. The soul groups that came over to England in those days were fantastic live and sounded just like the records.
This was the same year when
Eugene Record passed away.
R.I.P. to Robert Lester
and Frank Reed who has since passed.
Robert in 2010 and Frank in 2014.
Good singing you don't hear anymore!
I play this at least 6 times a week..the saxophone is just amazing and the guys sound better than records...goosebumps every time..1970s and these songs are 50 years old and been privileged to remember and lived through these wonderful years..❤❤
