From my understanding, it's much more common for demons to function/manifest in humans rather than move a stand alone object like a chair. My theory is that it takes a different level of power or demonic ability/environment to move a stand alone object. As an illustration: it's possible for a human to shoot a basketball into a hoop 15 yards away but it's rare. It might take the correct wind current, position on a hill or the person needs to have a lot of practice in that skill.

Other's, more secular minded, are actually stunned by this new reality...A very common Olde Truth that was entirely denied them by our current agnostic education...this discovery inspires them to decide to dig in deeper toward true Devil worship...meanwhile the full gamut of historical human experience, and all traditional world religions consistently acknowledge these intelligent, but malevolent entities do exist...and are to be avoided like spiritual vermin... as Shakespeare so succinctly stated..."There are more things on heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.”...

Michael's radio story is really amazing, it really made me think!
How likely it is that something like that would happen...
The fact that a broken radio would suddenly turn itself on, play the right station, with the right romantic music, at the right time just after his fiancée's father died, a very touchy moment for both of them, moreover, not only a radio but! something with a high emotional value directly connected to his father! and after that moment, the radio would never work again...
if Michael had been alone, and this would have happened, the story would have been hard to believe, but then there was his fiancée, another witness...
in order of probabilities such an event is really difficult to happen, almost impossible... and not only that... the fact that it happened to Michael, a committed skeptic, with varied scientific knowledge, also owner of a magazine, and not just any magazine, a magazine for skeptics, a person who also has a past related to faith, who has spent the last decades talking about it from a naturalistic point of view, which gives him enough credibility to talk about it...
That's really so unlikely to happen.... that it's surprising!
if I hadn't seen Michael talk to the camera about it I wouldn't have believed it...
    all that makes me think...
maybe if this had happened to a common citizen, maybe this would be finished differently, possibly in an anecdote, a legend among the friends of the bar, some story of the hallway, we would be branded as liars even if this had happened to a person who is not a scientist or with recognition, possibly very few would be believed with doubts... we would argue that he had a hallucination, that it was an effect Mandela... it was all imagination and that it was all in his head, even that he is lying to us to become popular, controversial or to draw attention to himself.
But... yes, we believe Michael, because well... he is Michael.
That's what makes testimonies so difficult, to believe or not to believe .... but certainly, that story is surprising! men...

For example, when asked about the relatively higher number of demonic occurrences in other cultures, he says its because they are ‘outside the Christian realm and don’t have that protection’. I 100% agree with Shermer about the free speech issue and big props for writing a book calling out the cancel culture. However with his argument about these unexplained anomalies, where he says no one knows for sure and some might jump the line and say that's paranormal or supernatural and he's willing to just say I don't know and I'll wait till we know for sure.I think that's closing himself off to the possibility. Because by the very definition of supernatural or paranormal, if it exist, your not going to be able to explain it with normal or natural explanations. So if the supernatural exists and your waiting for a natural or material explanation, you are setting a standard for evidence that you will never get. I haven't watched the whole thing yet. I paused after the hell house story to write this. But I hope they ask him what would be acceptable as evidence for him. If a government worker and hospital staff (people we generally trust to safeguard kids and remove them from bad parents if necessary) can't be trusted as eye whiteness what does it take? If Shermer himself observed a person walking up a wall in a hospital room, would he say that he was mis remembering or conflating his memory with a movie? And if his own observation of an event like that wouldn't be good enough then I think that he really is closed off to the idea and not really a sceptic at all.

The Gospels were written by Jesus's Disciples / Apostles
(eye witnesses, men who lived and traveled exclusively with Jesus for the 3 years of His ministry before His crucifiction, death, and Resurrection OR those who knew these people personally) beginning approx. 20 to 50 years after Jesus's Death and Resurrection. In those first years after, the first-person witnesses to His Ressurection ( Jesus's mother Mary, the Disciples and Mary Magdalene as well as OVER 500 others who saw, touched, and spoke with Jesus BODILY ) and those who knew the first hand witnesses, spread the Gospel by speaking to people personally. As they all aged and started dying off, they began recording those historical events. We have over 5,200 documents of the Gospels ( the Books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John ) or portions of the Gospels written in Greek ( the common trade language of Jesus's time, of which He and His disciples spoke and wrote, and there is evidence Jesus and others could speak and write Hebrew or Aramaic ).
The Gospel accounts are the largest number of historical documents for ANYTHING in antiquity. They were later directly translated to English from the original Greek -into our current New Testament- and from English, they were translated to World Languages.

That interview was hilarious- "I saw someone pick up an office-chair with ONE ARM... and ONLY possesion by a demon could be the cause of such a display of supernatural strength!!"
Notice how all the dramatic stuff the priest mentioned- "levitation", "people climbing walls", etc, was what he's HEARD, but when asked about what he'd SEEN, it was all explicable, non-supernatural stuff like "picking up office-chairs" and "writhing on the ground"?
Interesting to hear him claim that exorcism "isn't magic", though- He literally claims that he reads out specific phrases (ie "magical spells"), and carries out specific actions, with objects like crucifixes, bible, rosary, etc, (ie "magical rituals") which he believes will have a supernatural effect ("driving out demons")- That perfectly fits the most basic, textbook definition of magic- Speaking certain words, and/or doing certain rituals, with the belief it will effect the real world, via supernatural mechanisms.
If you swapped the latin, for Sumerian, and swapped the "the power of Christ compells you!!" for "the power of Baal compells you", and switched the rosary for some OTHER religion's prayer-beads in those rituals, I wonder if he'd claim THAT "wasn't magic"? Or, does he think that whether it's an attempt at "magic" or not, depends on which specific magical, invisible occult entity you're invoking? "It's not occultism/magic if you invoke MY god.... It's only occultism/magic, if you invoke SOMEONE ELSE'S god!!!!"
It's amazing how the people who are the most paranoid about "occultism", can't recognize REAL, LITERAL occultism, when it's right in front of them... or even when THEY are ones practicing occultism...

What Hallowell isn't appreciating here is that there's what we could call _Anecdotal Natural Selection_ at work when he speaks of compelling accounts (memes) about spooky Ouija Board experiences. I've also used a Ouija Board as a teenager & would you believe... _nothing interesting happened!_ If 99.9% of stories are just as boring as mine is there much chance it's going to be repeated? _Nope!_ Professor Richard Feynman has a similar account to this. He'd talk about a bad feeling he had about his mum for no discernable reason but it worried him enough to phone he up to see if she was okay &... she was fine! Who's going to recount a story as boring as that one? No one, so it doesn't get repeated to counter balance all the far more extraordinary stories in the memosphere!

The good spirits do something ~similar, but they call it "puddle jumping". Not like possession, but more an influence. They can feel and see like the person or animal and influence thoughts and movements. I guess maybe a light version of possession. "Bad" spirits use the same mechanism, but they are not constraining themselves to rules or regulations. They pay a high price for doing this sort of thing when it is not approved for a reason. The "bad" ones are unredeemable - they say.

It's like discussing a certain smell with someone who can' t smell anything. How do you convince that person that it really is a strong smell present? Or even that smells exist?
I believe all genuinelly christians some time in their lives need a wise and experienced priest/pastor to ask for guidence and help in possibly occult matters. Satan exists, but Jesus died to save us from ourselves. Our hearts are deceitfully wicked above everything else. Yes Jesus did also die to destroy the spiritual powers that hold people captive, but we are very responsible for our sins. There is no "the devil made me do it" kind of teaching in the Bible. Instead the Bible says "All have sinned and fallen short of God's glorious standard."

As you know, eyewitness evidence is relatively reliable, except when proposed for ancient myths.

When Satan appeared to Jesus in the desert he did not try to spook him or even physically harm him. Satan tried to make Jesus doubt what the Father had just spoken over him. "This is my beloved son in whom I am well pleased". Immediately after this Jesus is taken into the wilderness and Satan directly attacks what the Father said was true. Satan repeatedly says to Jesus "If you are the Son of God".
This is also what Satan did to Adam and Eve. He did not try to scare them, he deceived them by tempting them to doubt God's word.
This is Satan's main area of attack, his second area of attack being our attitudes and how we treat people. Jump scares are not in the Bible.

Instead, it is the (temporary) suspension of natural law that is considered a miracle. Since continuous suspension of natural law would result in a completely different reality from life as we know it, and that a continuous suspension would be a systematic effect its own right, the occurrence of a miracle must by definition be a non-systematic rare occurrence. As such, the probability of encountering a miracle event by random chance should be ridiculously small.

Here is how the "Extraordinary claims requires extraordinary evidence" sounds to the rest of us.
    Stupid. It sounds stupid.
The reason I don't require evidence for the bike ride is either A) I don't care, B) I am too distracted by the claim of the UFO, or C) both. It has nothing to do with it being "mundane".
The truth is claims require evidence, the claim of the claim being "extraordinary" also requires evidence and is only used to push the bar so high that you can ignore the claim.
Using the bicycle as my example, let me tell you how this dumb argument sounds to everyone else.
Person A) Hi mate, how are you? I went on a bike ride today.
Person B) Did you? I lack belief that you went on a bike ride.
    A) You don't believe me?
    B) No, I didn't say that. I just lack belief that you did.
    A) Well I am still in all my gear.
    B) that isn't evidence you cycled, that you might have just decided to wear them.
    A) Well, my Bike is over there.
    B) That just proves you know where Bikes are kept, or borrowed a bike. It isn't proof you cycled.
    A) I am still sweating, I have my helmet here. What more can I show you?
    B) you might have done some other kind of exercise. It doesn't prove you rode here.
    A) What can I possibly do to prove it to you?

Multiple eyewitness testimonies corroborating each other and absolutely no personal benefit by giving it, if anything negative personal impact as was said... How much more "extraordinary" evidence do you need?
If there were video or photos Michael would say it could have been doctored.
If he saw it himself, He would have said, I hallucinated.
I admire his faith in nothing besides the physical. He would make a great Christian.

What’s wrong with being a porn star?

    • @joshuaWEC
      @joshuaWEC 3 года назад

It is not what God designed any human being for. It is extremely objectifing and demeaning to humans to be treated that way, as though all we are good for is our bodies. God has so much more for people. Real relationships without selfish desires and objectifing. That are not just built on sex but every part of the person.
I'm not trying to sound holier-than-thou. Porn has been my biggest weakness my whole life. The more I get to know God though, the more disgusting I see porn is, even on the most basic level of being so far from what he wants us to be doing.

@@joshuaWEC to each their own. As with anything there can be issues and problems with certain fields of work. But given consent, agreed compensation, and safety, there’s nothing inherently wrong with it. An actor’s French kiss is fine but another organ in another orifice is a bridge too far? A bare arm is ok but a butt check isn’t? A man’s nipple is acceptable but a woman’s....?
We are “designed” unintelligently via evolution. Evolution is the most evidenced consensus in science.
If being a sex worker offends you or otherwise, don’t do it or watch it. The non stigmatization of it would better promote safety and likely improve conditions.
I do believe violence against women has decreased since pornography has been more readily accessible via the internet. Given ideal conditions of sex workers as mentioned, wouldn’t this fact be beneficial to society?
This is not to say I’m not all for real meaningful mutual relationships with actual people.

Christians don't have to debate with skeptics like Michael if they know something is true. They can just tell people it is true. We don't have to be 'playing with skeptics'. With some of these people you can probably say as many words as you can but they still will not believe. Words are not what will persuade though - seeing/experiencing the actual reality might, although they might still believe it is a trick of some kind. Really what those people need to do is to read the Bible and pray and get closer to God.
