The devs released a Q&A in which they confirmed you must pass at least 3 in-game days before aging will occur. You also have to pass so many minutes, but they decided not to tell us the specifics on that. I typically just start at the first drink time I wanna hunt (7AM on Nez Perce for black bear), then hunt all the way through until about 14:00, when everything stops drinking. On the first day of an age cycle, Ill go through and check the animals that Im keeping a close eye on (4*s, rares, etc.), then Ill check other zones or explore new areas on days 2 and 3. I have a note sheet of all the animals Im tracking and I also note what day it is so I can know when aging has or has not occurred. Keeping track of when aging occurs also allows you to accurately judge an animal's age. For example, when my albino buck hit 3* as a first year mature, then 4* as a second year mature, I was confident that he still had another year to age, so I let him go and he ended up making 5*. As for which animals to shoot, 1 and 2* mature are always a safe bet, except maybe 2* bears, though Im not sure. With antlered and horned animals, I look at the star rating, but also at the headgear. If theyre uneven, regardless of age, I take them out. Its best to get the uneven young animals out ASAP to keep them from spreading their genetics. Following these rules, Ive shot I think 33 5*s in the month-and-a-half or so that Ive been playing the game. Im having a hard time bringing myself away from Nez Perce to try out the other maps because Ive got so much that Im tracking.
Great video. I just wanted to say it’s been really cool watching your channel grow. I know being a content creator can’t be easy but your doing a great job! You’ve made me laugh a lot, and have helped me a lot with my own WOTH. Wish you the best, grats on passing a thousand too.
I very much appreciate that! It has been a cool and amazing journey so far and it’s just the beginning! I gotta thank you and everybody that has helped me get this far, without y’all none of this would be possible so I gotta say thank you!
lol the “boink” sound effect… “stiff as a BOARD!” 😂 Glad I watched this. Just been playing like normal. Played it on release for like an hour, returned it and then re bought it for $23 the other day on sale. Been trying to understand how the genes and that work to get high star animals. Shot a 3* moose the other day so that was most likely a mistake lol.
Animals might have slightly higher on average genetics in thier primary habitat but I know for a fact animals in secondary or even habitats not listed in the encyclopedia can still become 5 stars. For example wild ducks like the swamps on nez perce or the floodplains on trans yet I have found six 5 stars of them on aurora shores in the grasslands which inst mentioned as a biome they like! Anyway great video!
Just found this channel out and figured it had 100k or more subscribers but no this man is underrated for sure but has so much potential keep doing your thing it’s amazing 🎉
So wait a minute…I just recently found out it takes about 30-45 seconds for the animals to load in after sleeping or fast traveling so I’ve been making sure to do that before doing both back to back. But if what you’re saying is true then that’s all that needs to happen between sleep cycles to trigger the animals to age…I’ve been going off a few different sources saying you have to pass a certain amount of time in game before it’ll trigger the animal aging. I need to test this now
FFwd one year. Does the sleep method still work? Another youtuber said now you have to allow the animal to go through all 3 need cycles (eat, sleep, rest) in a day for them to graduate to the next age.
Thank you! The only tip I got for you brother is to keep shooting them, the more you get to spawn in the better your chances of a rare spawning in. Also look for the rares in the animals primary habitat. Good luck!
How to change maps? Im playing storyline and bought.elite version of the game and idk how to change maps, or i cant change in story mode? Someone pls help❤
Missions, or just go around blasting everything haha. If you can find a herd that spawns in the same spot everyday day, just shoot one, sleep, rinse and repeat
Can anyone else here verify if the sleeping strategy works? I hear so many conflicted opinions on the matter that i want to get other sources to verify
If you keep playing consistently you’ll get a 5 star. You prolly have by now. I played for like 3 weeks and randomly stumbled upon a 5 star mountain goat. I didn’t do any herd management at all. He was just there. Keep playing you’ll get 5 stars.
Its the most broken and stupid thing to put In a game herd management. In real life you would never see animals ever again from year to year you just want to hunt to fill your tag and hope that a huge buck or animal shows up while hunting, your not hunting behind a high fence ,in Texas. COTW for what It is ,is a lot more fun hunting and you get random drops all the time just like real hunting where everything Is surprise and tru racks are awesome you just never know what you will see while hunting because there are so many different animals.
No game will ever be like real life hunting. These are just video games, if you like a more arcadie hunting game then people should play COTW. If you want more "simulation" type hunting game play WOTH.
What disgusting way of hunting , just like COTW spawning out of tents every 10 minutes to harvest hundreds of animals faster , I don't do that I take what comes my way. But If your hunting on foot COTW still has the best Randonist hunting In game ,and Its still the most smoothest hunting game by far.

Shot 2* mature elk with 91% genes. Turns out you also have to check the color of the fur: the older the animal - the more "grey" they look.
Your the ONLY entertaining woth youtuber plus it has to take forever to find a five star thank u for helping dude
Dude you wouldn't believe haha. Thank you!
Best WOTH youtuber out there
You're to kind!

It’s been awhile since that video but as of recently I’ve had to sleep for 5+ days at a time
Dude! Great video and explanation. Tha
when you said 'oh i might forget where this 2 star adult was at' use the toolbox!!

Great to see this channel growing and that your video got put up on the WOTH dev update 👌🏻
Right! That was unreal to me!
Wassup, love the video man
What uppppp, thank you!
What should I do if I have a 4 star male and I sleep but the herd isn’t at the same drinking place for 2 days?
@Irfitzsimons856 They may be at their second drinking zone.

Nice video man
do you always need to use a tier 6 weapon for lets say a tier 6 animal? or can you use a tier 5 weapon and hit them in the lung?
You can use tier 5 weapons for tier 6
I had my first 5 star and accidentally shot it in the head it was a cape buffalo
I have never found an animal with more than 1 star. Is my game broken or something?
Have they fixed this bug yet?
I have to be doing something wrong cause every time I’ve seen a 4 star I’ll wait then boom it despawns
Nope happens to me all the time bud.

It even says in one of the loading screen tips "Animals grow 1 year older after a set of in-game days and real time minutes".
@@Huntgaming25 That's good to know, I appreciate the response!
@markhaga8408 no problem! I know people say it doesn’t work but it works for me and it actually says in the game that’s how it works haha

yeah this method is not working

Most people hunt once a year. If your full time job is hunting in real life you would be concerned about herd management
You clearly don't hunt IRL. You absolutely manage your animals on Private Property...
