- In a gripping Manila lecture, Rabbi Tovia Singer reveals the history of the ‘Messianic Judaism,’ and a result that no one expected!
The Rabbi is right - I and my family went from the Evangelical Baptist church, to the Messianic Movement, to eventual conversion to Orthodox Judaism. It took us about 6 months to realize the group we were hooked up with were really Christians, masquerading as Jews - and, as the Rabbi said, most of the 'congregants' were NOT Jewish. At the same time, we had been attending classes at the local Jewish Community Center, taught by Orthodox rabbis, so we learned a lot from them, and began doing further study on our own.
Yeshua was the Jewish mashiak and his followers were JEWISH, in the first century almost all them were Jewish, and a good amount of Jewish followed the Yeshua Mashiak. Don't confused with pagan Christians with Messianic.

@@davidgardian469: You're kind of right, however, the word "Tanakh" is often called "Torah" by Jews (i.e. used interchangeably), because it is comprised of the Torah, the Prophets and the Writings (i.e. Psalms, Proverbs, etc.).
You're actually using the wrong name for "Jesus". Messianic Christianity refers to "Jesus" as "Yeshua", not "Yehoshua", which is the Hebrew for "Joshua".
Actually, as far as God is concerned, there is no "Old Testament" and "New Testament" - there is ONLY God's original, ETERNAL, Hebrew Torah, that He gave to Moses on Mt. Sinai. He specifically told us NOT to follow ANY OTHER TEACHING than what is in His Torah, therefore the Christian 'bible' is NOT scripture that was given to man by God. The "New Testament" is a false, pagan, man-made, anti-God, anti-Jewish, hate-filled, replacement theology work of fiction, that God NEVER gave to us and we are NOT to follow what it teaches - God's orders!!
The "Talmud" was given to Moses on Mt. Sinai, at the same time he received the Torah. Christianity foolishly rejects the Talmud as an evil book that is to be shunned, because they know ZERO about the original Hebrew of the Torah, having refused to study it, and writing their OWN 'laws' after doing away with God's ETERNAL Laws and calling them a "curse" and telling people they no longer had to follow what GOD Himself told us is ETERNAL - this is arrogant blasphemy!!
Islam, like Christianity, is also NOT from God. The Arabs chose to make up their OWN work of fiction 'Qu'ran', and to follow the false teachings of their own 'prophet', and create a religion which practices things God NEVER said to anyone. They also spread the falsehood that God's Torah is "corrupted".

You are so right! I was in the Messianic Movement for about 10 years, but when i began going to Messianic Synagogues, these was so much jesus in it. that just didnt fit for me.. So many argued and fought so much! That did not set well.. I wanted more and more..Of God and then I found out that my Great Grand mother was Polish and she was very suspicious of being Jew.. I am wanting to convert.. Soon i hope to begin the process..
I asked a "messianic rabbi" why God would say, "I, I am the Lord, and besides Me there is no Savior." if He didn't really mean that? The dude told me I was in the bonds of "the devil" and then had me escorted out. This was in the middle of him trying to sell that Isaiah 14:7 was about Jc's birth. They do not like to be challenged.
Update! February 20’ 2024. I have since had my DNA done and found my mother and her family, back 4 generations are ashkenazi, Jew! My suspicions were right! That was awhile back, but I since found a Rabbi, near me and I converted! My little ceremony was July! 2023 Now very involved with the Rabbi who helped me convert, start a Jewish fellowship in my town and I frequent a CHABAD, 45 minutes away from my home…. I’m just so happy! Shalom.

When I recite "Al tira... Utsu etsah..." at the end of each davening, this teaching provides another dimension of meaning to this prayer. Hashem is using their schemes and devices to gather in those who were "lost" from benei-Yisrael.
This is due to the context of the passage. This prophecy comes into view when the Syrians together with the Northern Kingdom sought to destroy the Kingdom of Judah, and the Assyrians, subsequently, carried off the ten norther tribes.

Problem with this teaching that God is using the Messianic movement to bring back the lost Benei-Yisrael is that Rabbi Singer also teaches in other videos that those who are not Jews must become Noahides. The Rabbies teach that it is better to be the best Noahide you can be than to convert to Judaism. So which is it? We are drawn to the God of Israel and Jewish teaching so in the end we convert to Judaism, or we are drawn to the God of Israel and Jewish teaching so we can then be turned away and told we must be Noahides?

Just brilliant -thank-you so very much, Rabbi, and to you Wil'l, for bringing this. As a Jewish child brought up with NO religion, I felt NO affinity for Christianity (deep south), so I never knew much about it. Horrified about the HUMAN SACRIFICE basis of it, just to start. Never mentioned a word to anyone, of course. I really enjoy getting my Jewish-soul questions answered, plus understanding the long, dark Christian hatred of Jews - just because we wouldn't worship 3 Gods and a thousand priests dressed in fancy gowns? Because the Meshiach had NOT come, according to our ancient scripture. Such a joy to learn from you, Rabbi Tovia. (I consider you my Rabbi now, I hope that's OK. I'd donate or buy your books/DVDs except I'm poor as a synagogue-mouse at the moment. My only other Rabbi was a wonderful Sephardic R., but I moved after a year to another state.) Well, some messy-antics have responded to me on another site, from my post of this there.
They do not "debate" for the most part, they'll send their "superstar fake-rabbis", but the average Rev Joe won't respond.
I found out that I cannot delegate really important and dear things. In my life I have become an expert doctor an expert veterinarian and an expert mechanic. I never intended to but I found out that I had to in order to get the job done. Now. The same happens with religion. I have been watching god channel for over 20 years off and on. But I cannot have jesus or the pope substitute my relationship with God. My relationship is a very personal one and I could not have done without toraah or daniel or psalms or hiob. Impossible. I wasn't very happy with Jeremy or ezikiel. I wasn't very happy with God's wrath and still I am not. For me the Gospel has been so light and easy. So a couple of months I decided to be just positive scrapping the whole tenach. Jesus died. Everybody dies to Jesus and we all go to heaven in jesus name. But then about a week ago I thought how stupid that is. First of all there is no Christianism without toraah and how dare christians convert jews and claim israel for themselves. I have been talking with God about that. Not with Jesus. And also a lot of things happened and I have been crying a lot. At one stage when I was an adolescent I asked God not to take away my tears when I want to cry but rather let it be a sign that I really care for something. And I do not cry for Jesus. But I do cry for God. And it's not emotions and acting. It is a sign of feeling overwhelmed for the connection. I feel one with myself. I feel truth. And it's personal and private. I share this in case you feel the same.😊😊😊
If someone tried to follow the present Messianic foolishness for nearly the whole history of Christianity, they would be burned at the stake for "Judaizing Heresy".

In Romans 1:16, Paul was not talking about conversion, but acceptance.
Almost everyone uses different definitions for the same words. Tovia, there is no such thing as conversion from Judaism to Christianity or from Christianity to Judaism. There is only conversion from being Gentile to being Hebrew. There is only being in or out of God's Kingdom.
The reason the Jews needed to accept Yeshua's gospel was not so they would be involved in something new, but so the Kingdom of Israel - the WHOLE House of Israel, as Ezekiel puts it - could be restored. A major portion of the 12 tribes were missing from the Kingdom and no longer part of the Abrahamic and Mosaic covenants. The Messiah came to bring back those who were missing and to prepare those who were still part of those covenants to receive the lost brethren. So, you see, the message was different for each House, but the message was brought by the same Messiah.
The Messianic and Hebrew Roots movements are full of people who don't understand this message, either. They are still caught in the "this religion or that religion" mentality. God did not create a religion, nor does He want His people to remain split. The work of the Messiah to the House of Israel was to bring restoration back into the Covenants still being enjoyed by the House of Judah. But the Jews not only said 'no', they said 'hell no! You're bringing those people back'!.
Well, guess what. God is bringing us back and will restore us to His Kingdom in the world to come unlike the Jewish version of the Messiah who only restores the Kingdom with the House of Judah which scripture says is Judah, Benjamin, Levi and Simeon along with a few families from Ephraim and Manesseh. We are coming back, Tovia, not through the distortion of Judaism or Christianity, but through the work of the divine Messiah!

Anyone who looks in sincerity at the history of the Faith once delivered to the saints at Jerusalem 33AD would understand how hateful it is to confuse Christians with Roman Catholicism.
You are victimizing the victim of identity theft in accusing the victim of committing the crimes the identity thief perpetrated in the victim’s name.
The first converts to the Faith were exclusively devout Jews in Jerusalem 33AD and only later did those devout Jews realize God was going to also save Gentiles.

The majority of Jews seem to have no idea that JESUS taught the Shema as the greatest commandment and never uttered the word trinity, nor did any of the apostles who were all Jewish by birth.

Firstly, these days, BOTH tribal lineage and royal lineage are STILL determined patrilineally. For example, if your father is from the Tribe of Judah, you are "Yehudi," if your father is from the Tribe of Benjamin, you are "Yemini," if your father is of Levi, you are "Levi," and so on; but, more strictly speaking, if your father is a Levitical Priest (Kohen)-AND your mother met the strict Torah requirements in order to qualify as a permissible wife for him (i.e. she is NOT a divorcee, she is a virigin, AND she is NOT a proselyte but a natural born Israelitess)-then you, too, inherit his Kohen status. Likewise, since after the reign of King Shaul (a"h), true kingship/royal lineage is inherited through the Tribe of Judah via the House of David. Secondly, it is the Orthodox opinion that ones Hebrew or Israelite (or "Jewish") identity has always been determined matrilineally and regards this rule as dating from the reception of the Torah on Mt. Sinai. Notably, Deuteronomy Chapter 17, verse 15, and Chapter 18, verse 15, are said to be in support of this opinion, specifically where each states, "... from thy brethren..." (i.e. from an Israelitess).

In conclusion, my point, above, was that there is no way that Jesus could be the promised Messiah, as he didn't fulfil the most basic requirements that Messiah needs to qualify for in order to be the Messiah. Namely, he is not from the Tribe of Judah and he is not from the royal lineage of King David through his son Solomon (a"h), thus these facts alone disqualify him from the position.
There are five basic Biblical qualifications for the Messiah:
1. He will be male
2. He must be Jewish
3. He must be from the tribe of Judah
4. He must be a descendant of King David and
5. He must be a descendant of David through his son Solomon.

Messianic Judaism can refer to many things. It really just refers to a more authentic, Hebrew reading of the Old Testament. But if you want, it can be anything else too.

It looks like wording has bee manipulated. It doesn't say that the people of Jerusalem pierced Me. It says they looked to me (for) the one that they (the enemy laying siege to Jerusalem) had pierced/stabbed.

Christianity is a Messianic movement from the start. The first major church council was to determine whether or not Gentiles could even be saved and be part of the church! They were Messianic Jews, and they were even shocked that God was saving Gentiles, too.

The true message of Christianity has been pillaged and destroyed. There is no such thing as "conversion" to Christianity (as is defined today) in the Bible. What the Jews converted to in the 1st century is belief of their own scriptures being fulfilled. The one to be born....was indeed born. The one to die.....indeed died. So in a sense, they converted to believing what God said would happen, saw it happen and walked and taught according to what had been written by YHVH all along.
However, nothing in the true message of salvation changes anything written by God. Torah is still the way. Torah is still the truth. Torah is still the light and life to all men as long as believing and walking in that Torah INCLUDES believing what is written about Messiah.
If you don't believe Moses (and what he wrote about Messiah) you do not believe YHVH....therefore....you are not following Torah and you have no salvation to look forward to.....regardless of your bloodline!

The bible doesn't say that messiah will, die for as he did not, because Jesus was killed, nor did he fulfilled the prophecy of Jonah, nor the bible says that this invented Jesus would be resurrected. If there was Jesus then why the followers do not circumcise as he was, so you cannot go against Torah. I'm more than a bit late to the party but a few comments. First, the comment about Christians trying so hard to convert Jews more than anyone else has nothing to do with the passage from Matthew. The fervor of Christian evangelists is largely cultural and not biblical. The passage in Matthew refers to Yeshua coming for the lost sheep of Israel first, then later to the Gentiles. This is supported by His remarks to the Samaritan woman when He made the comment about not wanting to cast pearls before swine (the Torah to Gentiles). Later His instructions to the 12 was to go out first to the Jews and later He commissioned them to go to all the nations. This is consistent with Moshe being selected from among the Israelites to eventually give the written Torah to the people. The Word of God came first to the Jews, then to the rest of the nations.
As for the question 'why do so many Jews refuse to accept Yeshua' if they are the most learned and intelligent people and the people who understand the Torah and the prophets more than anyone else possibly could? The answer is in their past. They doubted Moses continually, they grumbled during the exodus, they didn't wait for Moses to come down from Mt. Sinai, they rejected the good news from two spies who reported good reports, they fell into idolatry, they did not let the land rest as instructed. The point being, history is a cycle of rebellion, punishment, repentance, and redemption for the Jewish people. And it's not over yet. Rejection of Yeshua as messiah son of Joseph is just another chapter in their history. He will return as messiah son of david in his second coming to redeem the Jewish people after they repent (baruch haba b'Shem Adonai). It's cute that missionaries think they can force His return by trying to strong arm Jews into Christianity. But this is happening on His timeline, not ours.
Why do Christians believe Yeshua is the messiah? Is it ONLY because they believe they can read of him in the Torah and the Psalms and the Prophets? The earliest followers of Yeshua were witnesses to His miracles, His death, and His resurrection. That is the basis for their faith. Eleven of the 12 were tortured and killed for their faith. That seems like rather extreme lengths to go for a lie.
Last thing I'll mention is that John the Immerser believed Yeshua of Nazareth was the prophesied messiah. Do you, Rabbi Singer, believe John the Immerser was a false prophet?

I disagree....there were lots of ways God could have destroyed the earth that didn't result in a long, drawn out death by drowning.
Megan those that were drowned were pure evil in the sense that repenting was not an option for them. God gave time to repent but they neglected all given oportunities and warnings. Before the flood God sort of over a timespan 'picked out' [natural death] others who were to be preserved. Those God deemed right God gave them a natural death. Until only Noah and his familiy as being deemed righteous and the utterly evil creatures were left over. In the book of Enoch tremendous information is held about the fallen angels and the flood. Ezek. 37:24 , "And David, my servant, shall be King (Messiah) over them." I have a problem here. The writer of this passage knew nothing of any other forms of government. Dictatorial prophets, judges and Kingships were all that he/she knew. Today, Israel is a democracy and has been one since it became a country again, circa 1948. The idea of dispensing with democracy and the restoration of a kingdom with a dictatorial king is not in the mind of the average Jew today. Imagine, someone showing up suddenly in D.C. and proclaimed himself to be a God appointed and anointed king replacing the democratically elected president. Would he be believed and accepted? Furthermore, in 1Samuel 8:6 we are told that the Jews asked for a king. Thus they would be in tune with the states around them. As they knew nothing about a democracy, they asked for what they knew. For them a king would be a prestigious and prideful thing to have in view of their neighbors and an upgrade from the judges. In doing this, the Jews, in effect, kicked God to the curb. God said so and complained bitterly to Samuel about it. As for the Messiah(?), who is yet to come, I see a vicious, murder and mayhem in the making and a mega mess of international scope. The Jews, having tasted democracy, are not likely to accept the idea of a dictatorial king, God or no God. In 1 Samuel 8:8, God lamented the fact that for the 360 years since the Jews had left Egypt(?), he could not get them to follow his precepts dutifully. This was the case even though God had personally hand led and manna fed them. Now, we are talking about a people who were uneducated, rustic, hard-hearted, stiff-necked, who were full of naivete, superstition and much longing to return to Egypt in Africa. If it was impossible for God to personally lead a backwards people, how is it that He (God) thinks that a highly educated, sophisticated and satisfied people are going to believe and follow him or a Messiah today? Accordingly, whenever the Messiah comes, the Jews, just as they did to God in the wilderness and to Jesus in Jerusalem, are not likely to accept and/or believe him. In order to get the Jews of today to believe him or a messiah, God will have to personally come with him and install him and do so under the brilliant lights and with the whole world watching. It is my sense that this is nothing but a pipe dream taken from, modified and based on the "The New (Reed Fields) of life" dreamed up and of by the African Pharaohs in Egypt. If the truth matters, then let it be told.

The only place where I see the NT in the OT is the fact that the keystone verse of the OT is "God is one" and the keystone verse in the NT is "God is love". Both one and love add up to 13 in Hebrew (one/echad = 13; love/ahava = 13). The implication is that the OT without the NT is incomplete. God is one and God is love go together to make up one of the key verses in the NT Mark 12:29-31, which is basically an encapsulation/hybridization/synthesization of God is one/God is love.
Unless this gematria is just a coincidence, I find this very troubling to my Judaism.

Mr.fitta I agree with you.The Rabbi explains in some of his other teaching concerning christian religion and the "titles" of their "mighty ones"ie. god,lord.The "titles" of their deities.Tovia tells of the etymology/origin of these words and why he uses terms that the christians religion is familiar with as these words are about 375 years old when these words were invented by the kjv bible authors as they replaced the sacred ha shem of "The Creator" in the original hebrew text.I think "servant of alone" knows what I'm saying about these made up titles that they capitalized and called them "proper nouns/names" You can find this out for yourself with a few minutes of research

As a Christian, believer in Christ, I always find it baffling that Rabbi Singer misrepresents what we believe.
There isn't one time when he makes a reference to Gods words through Jesus, and the apostles, that he doesn't twist them, giving a meaning that God does not intend.
I suppose this is God showing us how the religious are actually enemies of his gospel, and his Messiah(Jesus).
I pray that the Lord, the living God, not only of Israel but the nations opens the eyes of the blind who really want to know him, serve him and live in his presence forever.

Mr.fitta I agree with you.The Rabbi explains in some of his other teaching concerning christian religion and the "titles" of their "mighty ones"ie. god,lord.The "titles" of their deities.Tovia tells of the etymology/origin of these words and why he uses terms that the christians religion is familiar with as these words are about 375 years old when these words were invented by the kjv bible authors as they replaced the sacred ha shem of "The Creator" in the original hebrew text.I think "servant of alone" knows what I'm saying about these made up titles that they capitalized and called them "proper nouns/names" You can find this out for yourself with a few minutes of research

Only a God can can save you from your sins. If you look at the book of Exodus you will see that the nation of Israel were only saved by their sins because of God, he just told them what their part was. This is the same with Yeshua. He had to have come from his father God in heaven, or else he would not be a God, there are not very many options here.

The idea is that anyone who believes in one God and remains a righteous person can get the same heaven as an observant Jew. While in most other religions u have to be part of their religion or else u go straight to eternal suffering
