You can ride the planes in green reef zone here are the steps
1:Change to another character going through the green hill portal in world 1.5
2.It should say equip and then the map removes the water and something happens

there's actually has a huge bug in sonic speed simulator, bug is - if you equip the tornado plane mount with Birthday King Sonic the plane will be broken and you're skin is stuck but you can still exit mount
