I'm 72 years old, and a native New Yorker. I did a lot of biking in N.Y.C. in the 70s, 80s, and into the 90s. We had none of this then. Riding in The City meant taking your life in your hands. The few bike lanes that existed were a joke. They even spent 6 million dollars to put 3 inch concrete barriers next to them. That meant that you were trapped in the bike lane along with all the trash and broken glass! It cost them another million to take it down! I have been away from my native soil for almost 20 years, but I am still riding. In fact I'm doing long distance bikepacking and touring on the trails of Ohio. I have a titanium hip, and a cobalt chromium knee, and I'm riding better than ever. I'm planning a 250 mile trip this summer. The main item on my bucket list is to ride in The Big Apple once again. It will be a much different experience. It's good to see that N.Y. C. has become a more bicycle friendly place. Be Well and Prosper!
there needs to be a rededication of space in the city, to people. Watching this video, the path should be at least close to the size of a car lane (12 feet / 3.65 meters). The amount of space in our cities dedicated to private automobile storage and driving is just shameful. Awesome video keep them coming.
As a tourist, I never considered cycling in Manhattan. I have to admit after watching your video, my opinion has changed. Beautiful scenery. A great way to see the city safely and not have to spend a lot of money.
Thanks for watching! Citibikes are everywhere in the city for rent, so visitors have a great alternative to transportation and to sightseeing at a leisurely pace. Have a good one!
The fact that you were able to ride non-stop around New York is just beautiful. I had no idea that the biking infrastructure was this well connected. It was (dare I say it for New York) pleasant. 😌
Thanks for your comment! My first time biking the Greenway was a really cool experience. Everyone should try it at least once
Once again Great video! Please keep them coming!!!!!☺️☺️☺️
44:04 the sound of the ice cream truck would make me stop lol great video i usually use the south county, and north county trails while also taking south county into van cortlandt park and tibbets brook park in yonkers
haha those trucks are tempting 😂 I must admit I do stop for cold treat time to time. I have a video on south country trail during fall. beautiful and peaceful. I can't wait for fall to ride there again. I gotta try the north county trail one day. thanks for watching! 👍
it sounds like a horror movie
Thanks for sharing
20:15 don't worry, I'm sure nobody saw that 😂 Nice video!
Thanks! Yikes...that guy was okay👍
Just reviewed the 360 video and he was just fine 😊
The beauty of 360 video is that you don't miss a thing...hehe

If this is real speed you're going way too fast along other bikes, pedestrians. Totally irresponsible to race your e-bike that close beyond strollers and children (without ringing once) !! It happens that a friend of my colleague broke her hip in a collision with a bike on a ped crossing two weeks ago and that was a way slower pace than you have here !
Thanks for your concern. I do go at a faster pace, but racing no...I'm always careful of others, I've been collided with a cyclist before too... thanks for your view and be safe
@@GuavaBikeJam you're not carefull at all. You go with 30+kmh beyond children. One step to the left ... It is not about you, it is about the other people on the street. Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton may comfortably drive 200kmh around a corner on a circuit, when they drive 100 kmh in a built up area the are beyond limits. There are good reasons why there is a 50kmh max speed in towns. There are good reason why you shouldn't ride a bike 20+kmh with pedestrians.
I may have to do that ride, from Yonkers I could get to Dyckman and then to the trail
Yes do it man! Word of caution. There's a lot of bikes on the weekend so expect slow down. Best time to ride with few bikes on path are early morning or afternoon. Goodluck and be safe!
@@GuavaBikeJam thanks
Awesome and dope video man. I am also a cyclist, and you should travel the entirety of the South County Trail one day. Keep up the good work. 👍🏻
Thanks for your encouragement and compliment! I did travel partially on the South County Trail that day I rode to Kensico Plaza Dam. Very interesting and frustrating at times. I got lost numerous times because parts of the trail where taped off due to the lockdown, construction closed down at the Old Putnam Trail and Google Nav was getting me lost lol. I love the low underpass I had to duck my head and was flooded by the river. I will mostly definitely plan another ride to South County Trail thanks for the suggestion. Do you have any thoughts about the Bronx River Pathway?
Guava Bike Jam Really haven’t traveled there yet. I will in the future.
Okay, I will post video if I ever go on that trail
@@GuavaBikeJam what kind of bike is that?
It's a cheap MTB from walmart convert to an E-bike..😏
Nice video. Just got a Trek Hybrid FX. Not the best bike but better than nothing. Where does this route start in city. Thanks for upload. Your pretty quick. What bike are you riding

I'm riding a cheap Walmart I had that I modified to an ebike
that bike is sweet I think, I rode the step through variant around Mackinac Island in Michigan and thought it was a great bike. I enjoyed the tires on the trails so much I ended up buying the same tires for my trek bike
Would have been sweet if you had a map on the corner showing your progress instead of you on the right top corner. Nice video though. Jc
Awesome video!! Where exactly did you start?
The video starts at Hudson river greenway north of GWB
@@GuavaBikeJam Thanks! Btw how many miles was that ride?
@@JesusPerez-pn7ll I just googled it, approx 15 miles, not bad cause it's mostly flats
@@GuavaBikeJam how do you film yourself in the top right corner P.O.V?
Looks cool right, like a drone shot? I used a 360 camera Insta360 one X camera attached to an invisible selfie stick mounted on my handlebar. Search up insta360 camera for more info. Hope this helps
E bike ?
Yes, it a regular mtb that I converted with an ebike conversion kit. PAS only, so I still get a great workout
How many km?
about 24km
I ride 24kmh and your going much faster, only wish I cold go as fast. Great video dude@@GuavaBikeJam
