These reeds are absolutely SPECTACULAR!! Yes!! I have been using them for years & now I'm using them daily while touring the world with Hans Zimmer... They bring stabilit y in our incredibly unpredictable weather affected conditions [I'm in Australia now, was in California last week, going to Northern Europe in few days...] ...THESE ARE LIFE SAVERS, AND A JOY TO PLAY!! --BRILLIANT!!

I found that just having a consistent reed improved my sound quality tremendously. I bought one for my Selmer Tenor Mark 7 and used it with a John Coltrane mouthpiece. The results were just phenomenal. I wash it in warm water and I'm ready to go. No warmup required. Great Product and well worth the price.

I am never going back to cane reeds. I am an amateur player but the Legere reeds make me perform like a pro. Hearing myself play consistently inspires me to keep playing. I have been playing for six months but my friends tell me I play like a PRO. Thank you to the founder of Legere reeds!! Thank you for making my dream come true! 🎷

I have been a cane loyalist for many years. I play an Allora Chicago jazz model Alto with a Vandoren Jumbo Java a45 mouthpiece. I've been hearing a lot about this product, so I decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint. The tonal quality and residence that I get with this reed is superb and comparable to too many of the high-end cane reeds. One thing that I also very much appreciated was the fact that this comes in Quarter sizes. This is definitely a product I would tell any woodwind player to look into and try out for themselves.

The best part of legere reeds is how easy they are to clean. I got hooked on them when my instructor let me try his out, since it was no big deal to clean it afterwards. Ever since then I've been only been using legere reeds. And just like how I tried them out, I've let others try mine out and they've begun to use them too. I use them on my tenor, bari, alto, and I just ordered one for my clarinet!

I’m a beginner and the signature reed hugely improved my sound and my enjoyment from the second I started using it. $30 is a lot for a reed and I was very skeptical. I HATE having to get cane reeds all wet every time I want to play. It’s much more fun to just pick it up and blow. That means I practice more and keep getting better. They could stand to be a bit more durable, but the sound is great. They made me fall I love with the sax again. (I don’t love the Légère classic yet, but I’ll try a different strength.

I am a beginner playing the Alto saxophone and started with different cane reeds but bought a Légère signature 2 reed. I love it and will be getting more. It doesn't have the inconsistencies of cane reeds or need moistening or working at before playing to sound right. I can just put it on my mouthpiece, tighten the ligature and it will work and sound the same each and every time I play. For a beginner like myself that is really useful as it lets me know the sound I am getting is to do with how I am playing and not issues with the reed. Plus being synthetic I have found the reed easy to clean and keep hygienic. Overall I love the sound of these reeds. Very close to cane reed sound (the Signature is maybe a little brighter) without any of the issues cane reeds are prone to.

Tried a different brand of synthetic a few years ago. It was alright but I'd never use it for serious work. For me, it would have never replaced cane. Legere doesn't replace cane...it surpasses it like a guy riding a motorcycle 45 miles an hour over the speed limit on the interstate, wind whipping through their hair!!! I'm looking forward to trying my second one. The idea of getting the exact same reed every time I buy one has me giddy

The Legere Signature series reeds are just fantastic! No other piece of equipment I’ve purchased has fundamentally altered the way I connect with my instrument like these. It does take some time to get the correct strength and getting the right strength for these is paramount! It can be a bit costly even with the exchange process. However, the end result is a consistent, responsive and beautiful sounding reed 24 hours a day 7 days a week! I suggest getting a strength slightly more resistant than you play on cane but I don’t mean the numbers (that can be misleading) but how it blows. These do break in after about a weeks playing/practice. These reeds really allow you to focus on what truly matters - development of a beautiful and personal tone on the instrument and playing music with maximum expressiveness.

Love the sound of your reeds! However, seeing my saliva through these translucent reeds is well, I think you know, not ideal. I wonder if others asked If you can either dye the material or make it less translucent? Thanks for creating a reed that not only sounds great, but also consistently sounds great over a long time!! Nice video, too!

    •  7 лет назад +8

Hi Bob, thanks for the feedback! We absolutely could dye the reeds but it would end up affecting the sound which is why we do not. A long time ago we had a student reed that was slightly colored but because it didn't play very well we discontinued it. We may experiment in the future, but it's unlikely to be totally honest.

Hi, I recently bought a Legere Oboe reed. I love the sound but found it a little hard. You make a medium strength Oboe reed at the moment do you think you might make different strength oboe reeds in the future or can i adjust the medium strength reed I have. It started off beautifully but I found after playing for more than an hour it was taking its toll.

    •  7 лет назад +1

Hi Linda, we are absolutely working on a medium soft reed right now that many players will prefer over our current medium reed. We hope to launch sometime in the next few months, but delays are very possible.

    •  6 лет назад +2

Hi Pandant J, these are great for marching though they are expensive. One reed sells for ~$30USD but will last 4-12 months depending on use. If you're in the USA Prowinds, WWBW, WeinerMusic, and of course Amazon all sell our products. Hope you get to try!

    • @benjaffe7890
      @benjaffe7890 5 лет назад

Yes. I cracked one after a bunch of heavy playing in a loud band- but I play a fairly big piece on my tenor ( otto link ny 8* ) and overdrive the vibration. I liked the sound of the 2 3/4 signature, but I put them through a lot. I keep one in my case at all times as a back up. These reeds work great, but they aren't unbreakable.

Oriented polypropylene, especially in products the size of reeds, has very limited application because it is so difficult to make. PP itself is extremely common as you point out.

deffinitely great reeds, but they are synthetic...why they cost so much? the old excuse for cane reeds costing so much was always the rarity of good cane from specific areas/blah blah blah, but obviously that isn't the case with these...mass produce them and allow us to have them cheaper.
