Glad you enjoyed it! Yes I'm aware that these videos benefit many people that can't easily visit the stations themselves, including quite a few that live overseas.
Just a note about the Martin Place open day webpage - it may say that it's sold out, but this is just referring to the first time option of 9:00. If you click the "More options" button, you can select another time of the day, where there are still tickets available.
Hi Paul 👋 I really enjoyed this update presentation, and I appreciate the effort you take to bring these to us. I am keen to see all these stations when they are in operation. Thanks again Paul for another amazing presentation. 👏
Thanks Paul. What I find fascinating, as with all recent station developments over the last few years, is the opportunity for attractive station design or re-devlopment. I imagine they have spread the work between different architects.
Yes that's right. There are a number of different architects involved including Fosters & Partners, Bates Smart and John McAslan and partners. It's great to see that each station is unique.
Amazing video! I am so excited for this to open soon. There’s so much of Sydney I want to explore that I haven’t been able to on the normal train line! So excited!
Paul: You've been a busy man. Thanks for this excellent edition and addition to your already great productions. Particularly the editing. Great surprise to see the train exiting towards Chatswood. All this progress has whetted my appetite to go on a train journey to inspect the progress.
If these videos were archived, viewing them in the future would be akin to watching the documentary about the Eastern Suburbs Railway today , which I find both fascinating and very nostalgic !

Hi Paul! Thanks for another amazing update video. Love seeing how the Metro is coming along. Something I think might help viewers of the videos in future is if you were to put a Date stamp in the top corner while you're showing footage of sites and stations, that way you don't constantly have to say when you took the footage (and the audience doesn't have to try and remember which images were from which days). Cheers!
Great job Paul. You put so much into these videos, so informative and so interesting, I felt obligated to join your patreon account. Well worth it. Thank you.
Hi Paul, saw the other guy's help, thanks. Perhaps you are right. I have to try and catch as much as I can, as I can't do it on my own. See what happens. Be great to meet you and perhaps the other Paul or Phil. Cheers.
Getting close now need to work out a business trip that might coincide with the opening time. Thanks, Paul. Everything is looking great. Everything seems to be built based on a high specification.
Hi Paul, Yes it is certainly getting close now. I believe the opening date will be announced about 6 weeks before, so that might help you time a business trip to Sydney for opening time.
I'm so excited to board on the Sydney Metro rail line between Chatswood to Sydenham & Bankstown I can't wait to explore all the stations between Chatswood to Sydenham & Bankstown.
Hi Paul, thanks for the interesting video. I think I like the Randle Lane Central Station entrance the best. The gate there looks almost like a royal entrance. Having a railway station in Crows Nest should bring the area back to how it was when the trams used to go there. It becomes more centralised with the Metro, as it would have been when the trams went here. I think the place was almost forgotten about when it was only served by buses. Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
Thanks for all this Paul, How far is the new Crows Nest Station from the main Northern train line or buses? Also as I told you in other places I will be at the Open Day at Martin Place Metro on Sunday 5th May and hope we meet, finally. Might see what else I can find as far as other Metro Stations in town. This was all wonderful and I can't wait to see it all up and running, too.
The Crows Nest Metro Station is about 500 metres or so from St Leonard’s Station if you walked along the Pacific Highway. Bus stops will be at both stations. Crows Nest station is designed to be seperate whereas Chatswood would be a better station to transfer from old rail to Metro.
Hi Geoff, Glad you enjoyed this video. See @fittipaldi7326 answer below for your Crows Nest question. Don't try and do too much on 5th May. You could easily spend a couple of hours at Martin Place station, and it will be wonderful social occasion, with lots of opportunities to chat with Sydney Metro staff and like minded people.
Randle Ln has been earmarked by CoS as a future activated laneway (similar to Angel Pl or Abercrombie Ln) so I assume it'll become some kind of shared zone.
It will be over a year away. The line between Sydenham and Bankstown is expected to be shut down for conversion to Metro for a year, and that should start some time between July and October 2024.
Thanks for that. I'll check those out when I'm next there. Lots of trackwork is now happening for the new platforms 13 and 14, so I'm keen to check that out too.
Probably the South Coast trains to Wollongong and Kiama. These are going to be increased to every 30 mins, and are likely to terminate at Central, rather than go through to Bondi Junction.
They don't appear when watching on TVs and certain other devices, but they are always listed in the description. Scroll to the bottom and you'll see them under the Chapters heading.

Another great video! Is it my eyes or is the new Crows Nest Metro Station the ugliest brown brick building out of all the other new metro stations? I love the canopies, the glass panels when lit up but the building itself looks really ugly! Was it designed to be made from recycled materials or to blend in more to any surrounding buildings in Crows Nest? I need to go for a visit for a closer look one day as it's not far from where I live. Thanks for the next community day link . I missed the last one at Victoria Cross as I didn't know about it.
I believe it was designed to blend in with the surrounding buildings, but it isn't to everyone's taste. Definitely worth taking a look. Go on a Sunday if you want to peer through the hoardings to see how it looks inside, as there's often no construction activity on Sundays. Look forward to seeing you at the Martin Place open day.
A lot of the shop front at Cross Nest have a similar brown brick design. The Crows Nest Metro Station frontage and connecting developments is quite significant. I can see it really becoming an Eat Street style of place with the 2 train stations and high residential density nearby. The artwork at the entrance of the Metro station is quite colourful and it provide a kind of juxtaposition to the exterior brickwork. I reckon it will look great.
I wonder why metro did not start from South West, the furthest suburb with potential growth and expansion. These metro areas take 30min while South Western Sydney has to suffer 1h30 each way and forever on the bottom of the list for development.
Ultimately they will come .. but the The Hills District had no heavy rail until the North West Metro was opened in 2019. Before the M2 opened in the late 90s it also took 90 minutes to get the city from areas like Baulkham Hills and Castle Hills as you had to get a bus into Parramatta then a train to the city. If you can get Sydenham from the south west you will be able to save time on the Metro.
I usually call them Awnings on the older heritage buildings and Canopies on the new ones. Also Sydney Metro refer to them as Canopies in their documentation.
@RAM_845 so is Parramatta woke? All cities have history and Cadigal is perfect for the centre of the city. Pitt street is a long road so it had to be something different.
@RAM_845 well good good for you. Gadigal station is perfect. Pitt street is a long street and if you are offering directions to someone it is a long road. Going by your theory Wynyard and Town Hall should be George St stations.

It is a really quick service from North Rocks on the M2 but can be a nightmare if there is an accident like the recent mobile crane fire in the Lane Cove Tunnel.
When the metro open it will take 27 minutes from Castle Hill to the new Victoria Cross station. Now I just need to work out whether I park at Showground or use the scooter 🛴 and go to Castle Hill.
Yes hopefully you'll be able to park at Showground. This is one of the quieter stations. It will probably depend on how early you go. The Metro will be much more reliable for sure!
