I never understood why this album did not enjoy general positive reception; it's a masterpiece and easily one of the best 5 Motorhead albums of all time. Robbo might have been an odd choice for the band at the time, but damn he gave them so much class; the atmosphere of those songs is just magic!!! I've always loved their classic lineup but this one is just another perfect band.

I was like most people and didn't like the album at first. But as time passed on i decided to give it a chance and it's now easily among my most favorite Motorhead albums. I like the fact that it's different, has a bluesy feeling, the solos are some of the very best, if not the best. If Robbo stayed in the band along with Phil i think it would have made an awesome line-up.

@You Tube No denying Wurzel but for me Robbo was the best. I really liked his style and i think the solos on APD were the best. R.I.P. Wurzel!

Bernardo A. García H. I think it’s because people were too loyal to the classic lineup. Kinda like when Phil was on guitar and dee was on drums, people still were loyal to the classic one.

I saw them on this Tour ( Oxford, 1983 ). No Bomber, No Ace Of Spades, No Overkill in fact no classics at all. I left the venue disappointed, angry and very deaf!

@@jamestidmarsh4913 Born to Lose is an absolute classic and Chase is better than the Catch is top 30 material ,a set standard for years. Shoot you in the Back not a classic? • @LiberalsArePoop

ve4mm It was too bad but if Robbo was refusing to play certain songs from their catalogue then it really couldn't last. Plus while the guitar playing is great it sounds like it's being played through a Pignose amp

I had to edit my last comment, so you know, some fuckin bullsht about community standards and how this piece of sht place thinks there is something wrong with using a cussword. You know, it's amazing how these fuckin hardline leftists (I don't want to get political, that isn't me, but these idiots have a problem with using a cussword? when you know they use them left right and center at home) and guess what, I don't want to get into religion either, but even the Bible doesn't say there's anything wrong with using cusswords! Unless you take the Lord's name in vein. Other than that have at it. Isn't it amazing that the left wants to put more restrictions on us than the Bible does? Yes, I'm aiming this right at you fuckin prcks that want to decide whether something we post is "appropriate" or not.

I remember seeing this line up, shortly after Robbo joined. As a matter of fact, at first I thought , "WTF. Did Eddie totally change his look? ". A friend of mine at the show spotted me in the crowd, and filled me in that it was Robbo. Maybe about 2/3 into the set Lemmy introduced Robbo, and said, " He's only been with us for about ten days, and I think he's doing a helluva fantastic job". I still have my "Perfect Day" vinyl. Always thought it was pretty good...

Saw them at Portsmouth Guildhall on this tour in ‘83. They had that massive back line of amps all switched on (not like today’s fakers), a huge PA, ridiculous volume. My ears never recovered after this gig. Robbo might not have been that perfect fit but I still thought his contribution to Motörhead’s journey and transition at the time was f***ing KILLER.

Musically Robbo was a terrific choice when Eddie left. He could play bluesy like Eddie but also more melodic. Lemmy once said onstage: "You sound just like Eddie" to which Robbo replied: "Don't insult me, man!". I don't think he was joking. Robbo's Motörhead was the New Motörhead so he refused to play the old "Eddie hits". Lemmy should have asked Eddie to return after Robbo was fired. Phil Campbell and Würzel were excellent, but I never thought that their metal sound fit Motörhead. They changed the sound more than Robbo did.

I pushed up into the main floor between numbers and Lemmy announced "This is called Iron Horse"-when Phil slammed into the drums I think that is what having a horse kick you feels like. It was GREAT, I loved the album, Brian was so talented on guitar, a totally wonderful show. My foolish friend wore no earplugs and kept hitting himself in the head the entire way home ;-D (idiot!!)

Great audio Ricky, thanks for posting this! Personally I stopped listening to Motorhead after Fast Eddie left. The band's sound changed and not playing Ace of Spades or Overkill in a Motorhead gig is just a joke. Picked them up about ten years later when they had a really stable line up with Campbell and Dee who are really fabulous musicians and complemented Lemmy's style. And they always played Overkill as either their first or last tune!

    Wow...., bite the bullet...
Well done..., that life version of bite the bullet is... 🤯....
And another perfect day = best of motorhead (imo)
Only down side of this session is that Brian's guitar is too screechy...
But this concert is a real treat...., I can't believe it's life!
Really good band motorhead was.., still is..., and always will be number one rock and roll band period! Thanks for the upload
    Greetings bibia
    Ps more plaese😁

fucking stellar performance. i never knew they ever skipped over "ace of spades" and "overkill" in concert though.

+Michael Bernfeld That is beacuse Brian refused to play older Motörheadsongs. Biran may be a good guitarist, but he is a dick.

+Anders Lindberg Very true, I saw Motorhead on that tour in Dublin and Robbo was blotto, never played any of Fast Eddie songs!

In this concert he is actully pklaying one old song and a cuple frpm Iron Fist album, but otherwise, no. it is insulting the fans to refuse to play ttheir old biggest hot like Ace of spades.

Thanks RickyTyger, this sounds AWESOME !
Robertson's using the same ol' Les Paul and Marshall and getting the most personal sound from the first note to the last. What a killer Blues-Rock stylist !!
And Philthy's grooving like a mad dog !!

i think if Lemmy had of embraced Brian as the future as Ozzy had with Randy they could of kept making stunning albums such as APD,but to be fair to Motorhead unlike Randy Brian was already famous by 1978,an established superstar,he wouldnt of been easy to get along with
