While going home after teaching English class in China I went down the stairwell in a large teaching building and passed a group of 4 Chinese students with zithers and some other instruments. They had no space to practice at the school and had to sit in the stairwell. I stopped a floor down and waited. They played music that made me cry it was so beautiful. I have been in love with this instrument ever since.

I’m went to the country side of China, Air quality is terrible, Hot as hell, and It is hard to earn money. I don’t live in china, I went there to see one of my relatives, and they lived in a house with rusty walls, small rooms, And they don’t even have a shower, they have to shower with a bucket, But if you have enough money in the country side of china, you could own a apartment that’s more modern with better air quality. I don’t recommend you living there, but if you aren’t and you are going as a tourist, It might not be the best music to play around, but I won’t judge you on that.

the first song took me to a fantastic place, a world full of life and love. a world of endless possibilities and eternal happiness, free of worries. the second song got me a little numb, like a lullaby, it was as it whispers in my ear "don't cry, it'll be okay." i felt like the song was about moon, the moon being like a mother and we're their children. i really felt warm, like the moon would shine through my weakness and light up my path. i cried on both.

It's called 《女儿情》，it came from a very well known but old drama which was adapted from a book in the "Four Masterpieces" of China called the Journey to the West. This song is about the beautiful and kind Queen of an all female country(this novel is of a fantasy genre) falling in love with a monk(one of the main characters) who can't return her feelings because he needed to pursuit his religious dreams and retrieve Buddhist books so that the people of China can be enlightened, hence he can't stay and give her a home. The monk actually loves her too, and said in the novel that if there is a next life he would be with her(being a very determined person and a realist, this showed his feelings towards her). The song is mainly the Queen expressing her first love and wishes of being together no matter what she has to give up. It's actually kind of cute, because the lyrics are quite innocent and child-like, which strongly contrasts with her position in the country.

From what I could hear, there is 'Guzheng', the Chinese zither, as well as 'Pipa', a Chinese lute that is sometimes confused by some people with the 'Guzheng' because they are both plucked instruments but for those who play them will tell you they are very different, not just in appearance but also in sound. For the first song, it is played by the 'Guzheng', there are many variations for this instrument, but the most popular nowadays is the one with 21 strings. The background is a bamboo flute mainly as well as some percussion instruments and the occasional violin.
