    The hierarchy of difficulty in Tekken imo:
    1. Knowledge of which moves to sidestep or to sidewalk, exactly when and in what direction
    2. Knowledge of by what number of frames a move is punishable and retrieving the correct punish on command
    3. Breaking throws
    4. Knowledge of which moves are duckable
    5. Deliberately causing whiffs using movement

      I'd say:

      3
      1

    • @ConstantUNTILisnt
      @ConstantUNTILisnt 2 года назад +1

      First off, tip no. 5 is a lot harder since it requires perfect movement on ur part and it also depends on how poorly ur opponent plays into this. Also baiting whiffs and punishing them basically is the same as tip 1. Since both of them r means for making attacks whiff and punishing them.
      Frame data isnt as hard as it seems. Whwn u get enough experience, u can kinda guess the average frames on even moves u dont know exact frames of. There's also trial and error amidst match.
      Throws r kinda easy, just gotta watch out for the mixup commans throws that looks all alike.
      Ducking highs probably one of the imp and easiest things in the game. Imo if a new player learms to do this, he can instantly start going up in ranks, even without knowing firat thing about frames. Jist gotta be patient and identify duckables and commit. Ur now better than the low rank players who flowchart their way to victory.

    Im super old for this to learn from reaction. I have turtle-like reflexes. So what I do is after I eat the grab, i observe if the our players switches sides. If it doesn't, it's a 1-break. More often than not, people will use the same grab because of muscle memory. So the next time they grab, i have a chance of breaking it. This is very effective for people that include grabs in their "routine". You dont even have to read which arm is up.

    Yall need to know a thing, only very few of the cast have full command grabs (1, 2, 1+2), and only some of the others have multiple command grabs(1 or 2, 1+2), and the rest simply just have 1 command grab(1+2). If your opponent has trash grabs, the difficulty will be decreased a lot, since you only react if that is a 1+2 grab, no need to see if that's a left arm or right arm specifically

      @neumanotavio 2 года назад

      It can, it just takes practice. The throw break window in Tekken 7 is about 20 frames, big enough to break on reaction.
      And that is also why you pretty much never see players going for throws (or grabs) in tournaments, because at that level everyone pretty much expects the opponent to break them.
      The window used to be smaller, and the reason why some old Tekken players have asked to get that back, that they miss being thrown in Tekken, meaning that throws are not a good tactic at high level to break your opponent's defense.

    • @esaesaeesaesa
      @esaesaeesaesa 2 года назад

      It just takes a long time to learn. It's good to remember that throw mixups are only available to a dozen or so characters, so chances are you don't get to practice it that much during your average tekken session. You'd learn it much "faster" if everyone had a three-way or even two-way mixup with command throws.

    The issue with this is how many exceptions there are to this rule. (ie: Julia's mad axes being a 1+2 animation with a 2 break, etc.)
    In intermediate to advance levels of play it just comes down to labbing and situational knowledge more so than breaking on reaction.

Negan and kazumi have a 20+f untechable throw from their stances which you have to duck on reaction, jack also has one but not from a stance but it has to be very close otherwise itll become an unsafe special mid. I am not entirely sure but i think feng also has ambigous bt throws as well alongside some more bt characters...so many exceptions to a very unclear rule. Its so dumb.

    Im just your everyday regular casual Tekken player and I can break throws on reaction. Here is how i learned how to do it. Go to practise mode, pick any character then pick Jin as opponent. Have him do his 1+2 grab, 2 grab, 1 grab, hell sweep, db 4 (block and use best punish for your character, not just ws 4) block, break and punish all. This is rrreeeaalllyy difficult. Start slow if its too difficult, like just make him do 1 grab and 2 grab only, nothing else. Practise that, then keep adding stuff. Thats how i learned to break on reaction. The hardest version is 2 grab, 1+2 grab, 1 grab, hs, ewgh (duck on reaction or ss it) dont panic duck or duck everything for no reason. Welcome the next move as an easy challenge (the mindset you should try to have) and beat it.

Not to mention characters with strong jab pressure how can someone reliably distinguish 3 different throw animations when youre already busy dealing with jin's 2 21 214 2144 mindgames that start from the same arms? Not to mention 21 step/uf2/d4/parry.. it just doesnt sound humanly possible without atleast overloading some part of the opponent of the opponents brain. And even after all this it seems like a terrible gameplay decision. 11f 15% knockdown unblockables for new players and an almost useless tool as soon as you fight legacy players? Just teaches newcomers terrible habits, no? And dont get me started on 1+2 breaks being impossible to break without specifically binding 1+2 to a button. Lost so many games to fahks and kazumi 1+2 wallsplat because i tried to manually press both 2 and 1 together
