I built an arcade machine a while back, coins really give a nostalgic feel. A lot of games have their credit-entry sound designed to work with the sound of the coin dropping in the box.
@@mizanulhoque9657 I had mine wired up to a PC running an arcade emulator, inserting a coin acted like pressing a button. It's not something you could do "out of the box", it's not USB or anything, but it's not a hard project
I got one of these in December. Mine doesn’t have the rear external ports and has a different box inside though. My coin accepter works great. My son plays it almost everyday. While it is far from perfect, it is pretty fun. I own a few full size arcades and a full size mame machine my brother and I built. This gets the most play by far. This is mostly because it is smaller and easier to place in a more accessible area. The weight is great, not to heavy but not so lite that it moves all over the place when playing. And so far it appears fairly durable. For the price it is a steal.
Mine does. It is labeled “Cartoon heros vs Capcom 2 (American version)”. It is the Dreamcast version I believe. Just be aware that it does have some of the graphical glitches known in older emulation for this game.
I have the 2500 games version, same box, decor like yours. No USB slots on back except power outlet and on/off button. Sound speakers toward you below. Games run fine with 2D games. Sound not distorted. Game might go back to main menu if it’s too intense (happened only once). I’m okay with 19” as Arcade1up is 17”. It takes Chinese yuan and can set it as free to play. Joysticks and buttons are very responsive. I’m more used to round joystick as I lived in Taiwan throughout my childhood. No regrets on buying this as Arcade1Up simply taking too much space.
@@ClearanceCollector i have the same one for a couple years now it went out on me already. when I turn it on a red blue yellow green screen comes on can you help any suggestions? When I opened it up there’s no SD card.
I have the Pandora’s Box 20S, it has the NES games (including Super Mario Bros.). I recall that there’s a joystick controller for the NES: it’s called the NES Advantage. I hope the name PlayChoice-10 rings a bell, because that NES arcade machine can plug up to 10 NES cartridges. Hopefully you throw a party with this arcade system, because I brought my Pandora’s Box 20S to my godsister’s birthday party on June 2022; the kids (as young as elementary school) enjoy playing Super Street Fighter 2 and Mortal Kombat Trilogy.
I think your monitor problem is an easy fix. the give away is when you said it gets worse with graphically intense games or loud sfx. the machine has a voltage problem and drawing more than supplying. can be fixed by isolating the power lines and adding some caps to smooth out the power draw. admittedly, shouldn’t have to do this to a new product, so bad quality as you said.
Just received mine today haggled down to $285 shipped and said no brainer. When I started it up i had these lines like you and as I went into playing most of the games the lines disappeared in game and are more or less on the home search screen the majority of the time . It’s confusing as why this is happening. My uncles a video tech and said most definitely it’s the power supply that came with it. It’s cheaply made. We are in the process of swapping out the power supply to see if it makes a Difference because he took it apart I mean the whole unit and found nothing loose or disconnected .. I’ll post the results ASAP .. great review I’ll enjoy this with my young son that was my purpose of the purchase 👌
The video distorting from seemingly non-related adjustments like sound seems possibly point to shielding issues with the wiring. And people are always missing the donkey kong samples - ctfo!
I have the same cab (non WiFi though) and with a switch socket as a plug in. The speakers are in front under the joysticks. Sound is very weak and has No bass. So I mounted a $40 20” vizio sound bar top which I got on offer up and man the sound make a big difference. It was the perfect size no lie. It’s not loudest sound bar but it’s the best option for this cab. The way I mounted it was cutting a wood about 12” cut it at an angle so the sound bar sits right on top. Mounting it, I drilled 2 holes, got 2 bolts, nuts and a washer on the top backside of the cab. I also added a power strip inside so I did have to drill another hole to throw the wire in for the sound bar. I’m now happy with this cheap cab I got for $90 + $40 sound bar, I might change it to raspberry pi 4 later. Another thing I like about this cab is it’s light weight compared to the wood ones... way lighter
Take out the coin-op box and replace it with a wifi tap n' pay device since the machine already has wifi built in. That would be my upgrade idea for it to be used in modern day hospitality venues.
To get rid of the screen distortions you have to use a seperate power source. I will create a video showing the mod. But the issues stems from the shared power source for both the pandoras box and lcd monitor.
I've been looking at this machine for a long time. Thank you for reviewing it. Regarding your distortion on the screen, most real arcade machines come with an isolation transformer to reduce electrical interference because they were meant for use in a commercial environment where you can have devices like blenders etc that cause noise on the electrical system. Try slapping the unit behind a UPS with line conditioning or try to wire in a 120V isolation transformer in there and see if that distortion on the display goes away.
Realy dont need it build my bartop for just a half year ago. Slapped in a pi 3. Resolved some overheating issue because it was in an enclosed box. And there we are. @MLP Id like to see some inside pics of the wiring and where everything goes. Reason being is its drawing interference from somewhere. Seems like ground could be looked at in the harness or even test the power lines with ferrite chokes if it doesnt have any in the wiring loop. Also maybe even check the power brick it came with. If you happen to have a spare from another pandora unit you might try that as well. They are kinda junk so maybe try a simple thing like that as well.
