    This is a well produced video! Even standalone small stores commonly have voice systems now. The benefits of voice systems are very great. The only time where I don’t see a voice system as ever being necessary is in a small, standalone building. Even a normal grocery store I think should always have voice.

    4:08 This is true. Fore example, a Walmart in my area was built around 2014 with a voice evac system that also doubles as a paging and background music system. Also, at least in my area, all new schools must have voice evac.

    On the contrary my apartment building is a 10-story high rise with 150 apartments, but it has a grandfathered traditional horn system. They did technically upgrade the system in 2019, but they chose to grandfather in a horn system rather than putting in a voice system, which beats me. I would have opted for the voice myself since it's a large building. They did replace the Wheelock 7002s, with EST Genesis, and replace the IRC3 with an EST3 panel, and a few other components, but it is still a traditional horn system, there's no speakers.

    there was a chinese buffet by my house that had a really nice spectra alert clasic voice evac system. When the pandemic hit, the restaurant closed, and didn't reopen until about 9 months ago because someone bought it. when it reopened, the voice evac system had been removed and was replaced with l-series horn strobes. i think it was pretty weird that they had a voice evac system in there, but it was sad to see it go

    Something I notice is that larger restaurants in specifically Florida all seem to have voice evac systems. Even standalone chain restaurants like olive garden are like that there, unlike other states.

    I work in a large factory with a voice alert system. there are red GE loudspeaker horns everywhere and a mix of spectlert and spectralert advance strobes everywhere. Oddly they do not play an evacuation message or even an emulated code 3 alarm, it it a repeditive high to low pitch for thr fire alarm. The other side of the factory has intrinsically safe horns, steobes, and pull stations. A mix of weelock and edwards, but i do not go t to go on that side of the building often. The intrinsically safe horns are continuous tone when the fire alarm goes off though.

    Although not a regulation to have voice evac, NZ alarm systems are usually ALWAYS paried with a "Pertronic" EVAC50W24V voice/tone amplifier, making each system have the ability to have a voice with different tones. Although one tone is usually used (under NZS 4512:2010 regulations), many can be chosen with a voice evac. Most buildings in NZ have one tone, but it completely varies on the system age and devices used depending on what the owner of said shops want. So, you'll never really find a code 3 tone, or anything such, just the same tone used over and over again as of NZS 4512:2010.

    In an assembly occupancy typically 300 people or more the intent is to try and counter group adaptive behavior. This is the tendency of lager groups of people to not leave without specific instructions to do so. In other words scientific studies show that the crowd won’t leave without instructions. This is why you see voice evacuation systems in churches, theaters, and other types of gathering spaces.

    • @FireAlarmDude5967
      @FireAlarmDude5967  9 месяцев назад

      Good information. Makes a lot of sense, crowd mentality is usually pretty common and people just remain out until others leave or they’re told to do so
