    Beautiful Davie. I like the local comment as to fixing the fly “beer belly” symmetry. Spending quality time at vise is especially important now.

    There’s no waste of economy when you offer materials to the hook. It’s what is so addictive to all of us who are grateful for what you do. As is with this particular style of “flye”, after the manner of Bob Popovics. The economy factor is what holds me as again I think of your work on the plus side, “crisp”.

      Hi Chris,
      I would easily say that 90% of the cormorants that I have tyed over the years have been for the Lake it's a deadly pattern there alright..The quilted versions are the most popular and the one I tyed is for a friend that fishes there, I'm glad you liked it and thank you for the kind words..Look after yourself and be safe...
      All the very best Davie...

    I'm trying these out in smaller sizes (minus the jungle cock) in- 18-20 and they are coming out great. In my mind Maribou is something reserved for larger streamers, but when carefully selecting only a few strands, it is a material that really does lend itself to use in smaller flies - being able to create that little bit of movement in a size 20...man, I haven't fished one yet but can't wait. Thanks for the instruction and inspiration.

    The tips of those scissors keep getting shorter. I'm wondering how long they will take more sharpening.

    Great looking fly mate. How small would you go with that one? The golden trout would modern that puppy. Have you had a think about doing the jock Scott or abbey my friend. Thanks for sharing another great video and fly to put in your box. Best Regards, Ken

      Hi Ken,
      I would say the smallest I have tyed a cormorant is on a size 16 for small wild trout in Ireland and they work a treat..I am looking at filming a classic salmon fly but I have not decided what one to film...Look after yourself Ken..

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  4 года назад +2

      Hi Dominique LeBlanc,
      I would say it would fish well on the river and the sea trout would certainly take a fancy to it..I'm gald you liked it..

      @DavieMcPhail  4 года назад

      Morning Owen,
      My favourite dries when I worked at a trout fishery were Shuttlecocks in different colours and sizes, Hoppers, Sedge/Hedge Hogs, Bubble CDC Sedges and Buzzers, Daddy Long Legs and Griffiths Gnat..I would tye them in two or three different sizes and colours..I'm glad you enjoyed the videos and you stay safe as well...

    Hi Davie has this fly only got one eye?

    • @DavieMcPhail
      @DavieMcPhail  4 года назад

      Hi teflonarius,
      I only used one jungle cock eye but I split it down the middle and encouraged it to sit either side of the wing, it is a great way to save money but looks and fishes just as well..
