I've been struggling for several hours trying to come up with a base that I can work with. The way you have yours set up and the explanations is exactly what I need. So many good tips! Thank you, thank you, thank you. Now I need to start from scratch. Again.
I actually build my base higher off the ground and place a foundation floor below the main base, which is where I make a bulk storage area with a locker for each item in the game and a clear area for installation of alge generators and water collection. One it frees up space inside. Second it allows easy access to everything from outside. Third when you get autocrafters ( which have a capture area radius of about 1 big living area)they will feed directly from them. Once you have drones you can also unload the crafters to this area. Finally once you have drones create sorter boxes. Set supply to highest priority and select every item to supply. Whenever i want to empty my inventory i dump all into one of these and the drones will put it all away for you. This set up also means that the items in the sorter will always be selected first for use or storage
Ya i thought of doing that but 2 levels was a pain and algae needs light, but it would be just as good i guess. I like having the 1 big double sided locker line of everything and auto crafters on window edge with algae and bees outside and then farms on roof. I did the auto sorting thing too :P handy just to drop everything in and it goes to its proper storage. I have 5 lockers for it and stashes or handy good, the 2/5 are for all those main items to build stuff so i don't have to go anywhere for them their right by teleporter, but i'm using the stacking mod so i have stacks of 30 so i can use the 2 lockers for just about everything, just had to make sure i had 1 of each in their first.
Tip for base building if you're not sure of its layout yet: keep all your storage lockers outside, not inside. That way you can move rooms around, deconstruct etc without hauling loads of material all the time.
Hard part for me is that it needs to be functional before its complete. I'm thinking I'l develop my Frankenstein base to make progress and then dismantle it to build something like this. Eficient and neatly organized. God damn perfectionism inhibits my potential.
Ya and cluster F* ruins functionality :) Thats how my base was but the bigger it got the worse everything got, hence a rebuild and tips so others can learn from my experience of having to rebuild because later on you really need that organization or its alot of time wasted. But ya i hear you :P
It looks dumb but a high floating base in that area works great. You don't have to worry about collisions from rocks when adding on and it leaves the ground clear for other things.
You look like you only have like 3 or 4 biodomes? Is this because you are late in the game now and dont need them so you deleted them? Or did you only build 3 or 4 and thats all you need? I have been building them all over to help increase what perk they give (per each one)... is this not neccessary and there is another better way?
Those biodomes are 1 of each, and soon after you get them you get other things that produce more O2/biomass making them obsolete so you only need 1 for their special function or just to have 1 for show/completion. But you might what to have 5-10 of the ones that produce bark, with drones they can be anywhere. But once you have trees done theirs not much use for bark and having just 1 with drone storing bark in locker is enough for me.
At the start, ya u have to do alot of running around or send rockets up 1 at a time to farm the drops. But bro, aluminum is right their near start in the fields, T1 miner can extract it their. The cave is right near by start area to lots of iridium and T1 miner can mine it too. Aluminum is also on ground in that cave and the rock walls/pillars near by with alot of supper alloy on the ledges, also past the sulfur in the sand water fall and supper alloy cave. Also if you build a ladder buy the crashed ship on hill you can just go over mountains and find the huge crater with meter and theirs over 10 iridium rods their. As for uranium, thats the only one you have to make long trips to find it in the 2 caves. So its recommended to send the rockets up that drop it and collect it. Genetic stuff will happen as you terraform, so build at least 5 of each best tier you can. Search the golden chests for the 600% seeds and use those, the hidden tree recipe is just same as others but use the 600% seed, you'll get like over 2x more O2 for first t1 tree spreaders. Lastly i have alot of vids on this game so look threw and see if any will answer your current questions.

I just dicovered the aluminium place amd the iridium and osmium cave but still aluminuim and iridium takes a lot to respawn so they're pretty rare. Before watching you video I didn't even know golden chests exist. I'll search them. Why you don't have more subscribers bro? You're amazing and your videos help a lot. Thanx bro. Ya i have old golden chest vids and for others you'd have to watch each update vid cuz i haven't updated the golden chests... They add new ones each update. I have updated the mining location vid, that one should help the most to get your barring's. As soon as you get a few T1 miners going aluminum and iridium would be a prob. Did you find the secret cave with dead body? Its in a few vids, lots of loot inside. its just near starting point along the mountain wall in the aluminum fields direction, just go towards that corner and make your way along it and deconstruct the fake small rock wall. I don't have cords memorized sry.

Ya you want to be close to water so auto crafters can get algae and water, and miners if you place them under water too, i didn't put you can.
