I feel like the absolute best option would be to re-release old bp skins but recolored. Like the alien outfit would be all blue instead. That way old players have the original but new players have something similar. Everyone wins
Yeah, this is how it should be done if need be. The captain saucerian' however is referenced in dialogue and its gun that its paired with is still in the store, so its fine honestly.
They thought of that, but decided against it, because they don't want to tempt people to buy almost the same outfit again and 'waste' 30€, and I personally think this is a really good mindset and healthy for everyone. not like the 200€ chromas in League of Legends.

This sounds like the best solution to me. I'm not against putting old BP sets into the store, so we people who joined after season 1 can enjoy black swan and other things. But at the same time I understand why people might be mad about this, it feels really unfair. Recolors, minor changes sound like the way to go.
If past BP skins are going to be added to the shop, they should make a colour variant for shop versions to distinguish them from the BP earned ones. For the alien, it could be blue/pink in the shop - making the green one even more exclusive but still allowing players to access AN alien outfit in the store.

To be honest at first I was like yeha finaly I will wear my alien outfit that I got from the S1 battlepass to be a little bit outstanding bc i was proud of it.
Then I saw it the Store and then suddenly it just felt cheap to me and now I dont wanna wear it anymore. Yeha you can argue with good arguments, but it still will feel how it feels to me now.. kinda sad :/

I agree at this point whats the point of seasons and a battlepass other than more money for embark. I do love the devs though so its hard to get mad but it makes hardcore players who have done the grind each season to earn it feel less valuable or special 😂😅. I did miss season 2 though do to life issues so I might have to buy a few outfits

Just wanna share that the opposite experience happened to me. I was playing from the start of s1 but didn't have the money to buy the season pass and im felt missed out everytime i saw that alien taunt and ak reload animations.
But today after I saw that they added one thing that I wanted i immediately felt happy and rewarded. Instantly bought it and brought to the next match. So i guess everyone have different experience at the end of they day :3
People saying it’s not a big deal to rerelease old exclusive skins but when those skins show you’ve been supporting the game since launch, I think it’s kinda low down. At least give us another variant of the Alien skin but don’t just sell what we earned for being here since the start.

There's already a bunch of exclusive things, this doesn't personally bother me. Especially because some old stuff was really high quality and deserves to be enjoyed by others... Also I just really want the cards from early in the game's life
Yeah that's my point here, I'd get it if they completely stripped exclusivity out of the game and for example allowed people to purchased "limited edition" items

With the lewis gun skin, every kill will add a passenger to a cart! there could be multiple carts and the speed picks up!

I think it was something to do with legal reasons, not having the metal ball helps them avoid some stuff, same reason why the slots don't spin or move in the arena.
for me the exclusive items should be battle pass lvl 96+ items, ranked rewards, beta rewards and LTMs rewards like steal the spotlight set

I think as long as they don’t keep putting BP skins in bundles later, it’s fine. One bundle is not the end of the world, but they can’t keep doing this. There are exclusives and should be. Not everyone is going to get stuff that the diehard day one community has, as it should be.
Would you agree that instead an alternative is to allow a voting system before a bundle is released? For example 4 options and players can vote on which old battle pass skin releases, but say it only happens once/twice a year etc? Wondering what a good compromise would be :)
@@THiiXY I don’t really like the voting idea because the community is largely made up of more casual players who don’t really care about earning/buying exclusives and will just vote to add it because they’re indifferent and it’s easier/kinder to lean towards no FOMO. The part of the community that really likes those bragging rights and grinded to earn them is smaller I’d guess. I personally have a deep love for the people at Embark so I’m largely a ride or die type mindset on this, but I also do enjoy those bragging rights and exclusives. It seems to me this is a strategic bundle for something coming tomorrow so I’m okay with it, and I’d be okay with them occasionally bringing back others for events if it suits their need. I just REALLY don’t want to see it a lot, and I don’t want the community to think they’ve been gypped because Embark wants to sell more bundles.

If you're taking the about the set where green fumes come out from the eyes, then it is still in game and you can buy it with coins. You need go to "Styles" and you can find one of parts be it the skull or dress and it will give you the option to buy it separately or the whole bundle
I don't really care about the alien character skin, but I am a little upset about the alien jump pad was added to the bundle as there are no other unique pad skins - which made it pretty darn exclusive and that was one of the reasons I even grinded for it.
I think if theyre going to re-release the alien, they should re-release the alpha and beta skins to everyone

I feel that would take away from the value they mean to those players who were there at the time, but again if you wasn't there then you'd argue against it and it would be back and fourth. Personally those should stay limited, and it would take away if they re-release those. Take all the old battlepass items idk.

Yeah I know man, like I said I'm in the same boat but end of the day it's battlepass things that I just feel Embark wanted to do from the start, idk maybe in the future they will consider alternatives such as giving a different colourset but allowing the OG owners to get that colorset for free to avoid that FOMO they are talking about idk

I think cosmetics from old seasons make sense, they had 6+ months of exclusivity and there's a lot of players who didnt even play season 1, I would even argue that most of the current players did not play season one (myself included) so as long as they dont bring back everything from the pass, I think it should be alright.
The easiest way to mitigate this is to create alternate versions of this, make the returning alien blue for example, as well as the alien beam, that way you can discern who played season 1 and who bought it during season 4.

7:44 I can definitely agree with the sentiment here but at the same time as someone who’s been with The Finals since the beta and was just too broke to afford any of the season passes at the time I do think stuff like this does give a good opportunity for people to maybe get some stuff they might have missed out on but still grinded out for previously, I know the first two seasons I would have done next to nothing to have that extra income to actually get the full battle pass experience rather than grinding out and getting the free rewards so I think stuff like this, albeit while it does harm the exclusivity of things, it also lets people who HAVE been here that didn’t have the opportunity to get these things have them and even feel a bit more included with friends that might have gotten to cash in on things while you weren’t in a position to do so, one of the best parts of playing with your friends that have the same cosmetics is pulling a triplet 3 stack and absolutely shredding in style so I do think stuff like this can be beneficial but I’m also broke biased

I fully support the devs with their decision to bring back the skin. I have been playing the game since the open beta and I have bought the battle pass every season which I normally wouldn't do for most games because I think using FOMO to monetize a game can be kinda scummy. So the devs saying that a part of the reason to re-release the skin was because they don't want to use FOMO to make money made me support their decision 100%

kinda weird example but gorrilla tag had that same problem with exclusivity. there was some super rare skins but they ended up re-releasing them like 2 years later. I personally hate myself for not buying the s1 battle pass but i understand that they shouldn't re-release the skins even though i want them so fucking bad.

I really like the new elimination update but I am not a fan of bringing back old battlepass stuff when it did say '96 exclusive rewards'. I hope this was just a one of for the Halloween event.
If anything the hammer is fine the faster animation means you can swing faster

The reason people are mad about the skin coming back is because Its because Embark lied. Here's a direct quote from the S1 release patchnotes : "The Season 1 BattlePass contains 12 pages of unlockable rewards. That amounts to 96 *exclusive* rewards" Anti FOMO practices are good, but Embark went the worst way possible about it. Not even giving the people who owned the skin beforehand an exclusive recolor or even a refund. It feels kinda cheap imo.
To be honest? Im completely fine with Embark to re-release skins from the old BP
By that i mean ANY skin set except the final reward and bonus pages ! Plus,they really should add more stuff/color variant to the bonus page if they really wanna go with this route!

What's insane is that the model or defib hasn't been touched for seasons but heavy's getting nerfed each update after each update. Sledge change would make sense if they also changed dash+sword
tbh i think its a buff not a nerf. they didnt nerf damage, they just shortened the duration wich is actually pretty good, the amount of times ive died cause i was stuck in the right click animation.
Hmm I don't know what's happening with the model, I think that a lot of players are complaining about it yea, I can see it getting re-balanced in the next patch or next major patch which would be (4.60)
The Sledgehammer change is not a nerf, its a tweak, there will be players that see it as a nerf and there will be players that see it as a buff, it depends a lot on your playstyle, I for one see it as an absolute win as I lose more fights for the animation duration over the overall damage, but I can see why others may see it as a nerf, but it's a playstyle pref imo.
I was there for season one battle pass but trying to unlock things on it was such a grind, literally 90% slower than what it is now so they definitely grinded for it but so did I and still couldn’t get it

the shop stuff is already permanently available to buy and the ability to buy individual items, my only personal gripe is that it was poorly communicated that this specifically wasn't exclusive (which they've already apologized for so no harm done I think)
in the grand scheme of things this isn't fortnite where if you miss an item in the shop it's gone for MONTHS and the sheer plethora of stupid high quality items outweighs the slightly nonexclusive BP skins (my dad is still hunting for the hippie skin from his old account he lost and it showed up in the store like the 1 week he wasn't playing lol)

The only thing I wish they'd change is post mortem eliminations. If I drop a grenade then die but its eliminates someone I want credit and also if im mid throw and the grenade leaves my hand then I get eliminated the grenade disappears.
After sleeping on this and waking and seeing dusty's explanation I kind of get why they did re-release it but they should at least let us know theres a chance the skins will be re-released but at least for me, it doesnt degrade the batte for me, its still a huge bang for your buck and i get the whole exclusivity thing, its like how you said for CS its cool having something some other people don't have.
Personally I am happy he came back but that's probably because I played the open beta and then saw the game not have access to open the beta version on steam and didn't cross my mind that the real game is out already, meaning I came in season 2

That seems kinda hypocritical, if you're fine with battle pass skins bein re released then since I joined in season 1 I also want the beta rewards to be released, if not then none of it should be. The only exceptions are the competitive rewards(diamond, emerald etc, as much as I want to get them as well I understand their value being competitive rewards), everything else either comes under either "can come back to item shop" or nothing comes back to the item shop. Picking and choosing from your locker that I have this older exclusive item so everyone can have this other exclusive item just looks hypocritical to me.
Personally sure exclusivity feels nice to show off but even as someone who's played since season 1 I don't mind them bringing older cosmetics to shop because I know what it feels like to not be able to enjoy cosmetics just cuz I didn't play the game at the time. If that is still problematic then someone mentioned that the returning skins should be recolors instead of original skins like the alien outfit would be all blue instead. That way old players have the original but new players have something similar. Everyone wins.
I mean the difference is that the battlepass skins were purchasable at the time (through the battlepass) the beta rewards and even community rewards were earnable meaning that you had to be there then to get them. I feel it just takes the value away from the people that were there, but again if you wasn't you'd argue against me and it's a never winning argument so that debate is a stalemate by default. They can do what they want ofc but if they loose that core way to show off that their hardcore fans or OG fans were present during the alphas/betas then it would just let me down personally.
This patch makes me feel like they are fully focused on developing ARC Raiders, possibly shifting attention away from The Finals.
Separate teams work on THE FINALS and Arc Raiders, sometimes some help the other but it's mainly split :)

It really worries me that there already putting something like the alien skin out, I bought the battle pass to show I was a part of season one and feel like I got played, how many levels of the battle pass was each piece that could have been different things? Now people can just have it with no effort or dedication, it really really rubbed me the wrong way same with charging for the holiday themed pumpkin head like it’s a event skin and I have to buy it? I’m highly highly concerned with all these things together
in terms of cosmetics, bringing them back is fine i think. even if it is fun to flex. i feel like the main issue is embark communicating on what this means for cosmetics going forward. if all cosmetics are on the table now. players need to be informed, if this is just a one off, they need to say so.
Embark should give the players a way to know what content is and isn't truly exclusive.
IMO the best way to do this would be to make a new cosmetic tier above legendary that can be placed on certain items that they will never bring back. after of which they go back and re tier any cosmetics that they want to keep as truly exclusive. and going forward they can have a few rewards the battle pass each season that are on this tier. by doing so they give players who buy the battle pass content that they can grind towards that they know will the "i was here" cosmetics. while also allowing other parts of the battle pass to be reused later down the line if they would like.
but most importantly it would inform people on what they are truly getting.
Yup that's what I was thinking too, make it clear and tagged that the skin is limited edition so we know and can expect what is/isn't considered exclusive

1. audio of friendly footsteps are so loud that is confusing and than from nowhere i got hit with heavy hammer that i have not heard at all
2. Can they turn of screen shake while getting hit? it’s annoying to Not see what damage is being done to me as everything is shaking 😂
3. Would be a nice feature to have a granade indicator for frags

Yeah the audio has been adjusted over the months since the release of season 1 so there could be more room for improvement, I agree too sometimes I'm not sure if they're above or below haha

Man to be honest I've been playing since s1 and I couldn't purchase battle pass then and for s2 I grinded the whole BP but I missed buying it on the last day as I was having payment issues. I bought the pink bunny dlc after s2 as the dlc was still in my steam cart. I regret everytime someone pulls out those sparky wire defibs or pencil daggers. I understand your point of exclusivity but my case is kind of unique where I played the game but couldn't buy it due to some issues

i have all the battlepass rewards from all the seasons and i would never ever think of gatekeeping items for other people from ever buying them again.
i personally think that every item you've perviously earned in the battlepass can be bought after the season ends, because of some pay-to-win skins, like the cable defibrillator that doesn't make a sound when charging.
i never use this ugly alien, but if people want to buy it, they should, because not everyone has played since season one or whatever item they want from the Battlepass. i got all these items for “free” and 30€ for this alien set is a complete scam. i hate this kind of FOMO shit where you are mentally forced to buy a battlepass because you never see these items again.
This is not like a trading market or whatever like in csgo, where it ruins the skins market economic if some items would be available for purchase again. like who would ever waste their time and complain about something like that, when other people are free to buy stuff from the store if they want. all items should be listed like this, I think this is a step in the right direction.

No such thing as "rarity" in digital world, these are not NFTS. If it was for sale, it could and should be on sale again. Excluding rewards like ruby diamond etc.

They said they don’t want make more recolors because of fomo but if it’s always gonna be in the shop it wouldn’t really create fomo. Honestly I’d buy recolors like they did in s1 and s2. I get they’re trying to be better and not create fomo but if that was the case they’d charge a lot less for skins and show other studios/companies that it can work and they can make money to profit and thrive

never liked limited time cosmetics, people who don't have time to play or couldn't at the time shouldn't be penalized
Yeah, I don't mind the battlepass but I think it's just a balance, because those that was there should also be rewarded or show that they were - hence why we have the Open beta, alpha skins etc :)

Yeah that's another point too lol people did own them but I rarely saw people actually use them so it's doubled up, like I said I don't have a problem with it, I think it's fine as long as you don't lose entirely a way to show that you was playing the game in the early stages

Yeah I was explaining the reason why people are upset, I don't think everyone sees things in the same perspective so, sure I don't see a problem with it, but it just depends how far they go with it, like I said there's still many things to show your commitment to the game that's exclusive :)
how did you set up a private lobby with two people and one person on the other team? i thought uou couldnt choose teams?
you can't choose teams but it doesn't put you on the same team so you just do one private lobby and give them the invite code and start

I'm ngl I am a little bit peeved that there's no event. I've honestly been getting tired of the "Community challenges". What happened to events?!? Like smoking guns and steal the spotlight, he'll I'll even take the easter event. They could've been super lazy and just made quick cash but the entire map is smoky/foggy. Like at night and only being able to see 6 feet in front of you. Idk man. Devs are falling off.
Event is coming later today for World Tour, and they will likely add onto that throughout the weeks with more Halloween cosmetics, just be patient :)

I want them to release old BP items. I dont want alternate style, if people care so much about owning "exclusive" items that were released when the game was the most popular then THEY should get the alternate style.
I hate the idea of any skin becoming exclusive. It's just a marketing trick capitalizing on fear of missing out, which keeps you playing not for the enjoyment of a game, but to grind for specific cosmetics. I much prefer the idea of battlepass as a form of bet. If you manage to spend enough time in the game - you'll be rewarded with your investment back and some cosmetics on top.

I definitely feel the desire for exclusivity, but i do think that what we consider exclusive should be tempered. Grinding a battlepass isnt the same as getting a high level in ranked, or attending an event, or completing an acheievment.
I want other players to have the same stuff i got just by playing. I would be less willing for them to have stuff i worked hard for, like the 96+ rewards from season 2 onwards, or the circuit final rewards (tempted to be ok with non-final circuit rewards being available since those were less difficult)
One thing that helps me as a player who spends vrry little on the game is the knowledge that i got an exclusive deal over newer players, of being able to get all that stuff for relatively cheap compared to its likely rerelease price.
All in all, you deserve your exclusive bragging rights.
But should we get so cut up about the easier-achieved skins?
Plus, im in agreement with those who suggest either giving newer players a different, probably less-shiny version of the old skins, and giving us veteran players access to those less shiny-versions for cheap or free.
Who loses in that situation? The rereleased versions are still aesthethically coherent, and good enough for players who want the aesthethic to compromise with. And we get to flaunt our "we were there" skins.
Of course, its hard to make something that looks less interesting but keeps the same aesthethic sometimes. How does a chewed out pencil and dnd set reasonably get less interesting? Making it less beat-up?
All in all, a difficult situation for any developer. We should always strive to listen to both sides, but i as a veteran weigh newer player's ability to represent themselves over my own bragging rights.
My own skill (and challenge rewards) are far greater testaments to my veterancy than battlepass skins. I get that theyre less visible, and some people love showing off.
So yeah, lets find a middle ground.

not getting kills for mostly damaging an enemy and then them jumping off afterwards is really annoying
yea at least it's got a system for it now :)
