I love his perspective on homes and the fact that he’s barefoot makes it seem welcoming, cozy, at home.
Every thing about this guy is calculated affectation from the bare feet to the prop glasses.

Great decorating philosophy: Make it beautiful, but comfortable and welcoming to everyone (including children and pets).

I'd like to be one of his daughters. He seems like a fun dad. (Also the house is very evidently expertly decorated but not fussy. It's good for kids to have fun in and also develop their sense of aesthetics)

Omgosh he is so lovely. Beautiful home. A kitchen to die for. The garden room is inspired. The 'Playboy' beaver is hysterical to this Canadian. I wish he would do a series of home tours, decorating or anything he wants!!! Absolutely delightful.
Not only talented but hilarious. Your daughters are two lucky girls. I can only imagine how delightful it must be to be a guest in your home. The footage of you on a chaise in the kitchen says it all! So fun.
Darren was so lovely and I love his comfy approach to designing his home.
I thought his farm house was elegant and not the least bit pretentious due to all the French antiques. I'd totally live there. I love the fancy china & inexpensive McCoy vases & a chaise in the kitchen. My late Grandma had a couple of chairs & ottomans in her kitchen by the fireplace. Nice to have a cozy spot in your kitchen. Lastly, the beaver and turtle just make me smile from ear to ear. What a wonderful home for their family.

5 seconds in and I adore him!!! I just absolutely love his philosophy of what a home should be and ( would have loved to see them, I am certain they are amazing ) loved that he understood his 13 year olds wishes to not be involved.The garden room is divine and the television nook in the paneling is GENIUS!! Also had a very good chuckle about the zebra finches. I adore him, grinning the whole way through this ( OH.MY.GOODNESS! the ensuite is just beautiful. ) I loved this home tour.

It is like the video was made for us. My husband an I live with formal surroundings but want the house to look lived in and comfortable. It is a hard balance to achieve. This video is like a tutorial on how to create that feeling. Nothing is precious.I must look for a chaise now. How did we live so long without one?!?

There were always "dents" on the sofa/chair cushions in my childhood home. "That's the dog's chair and sofa and chair and chaise. Find another seat." My mom used and enjoyed everything, as did the animals. Love, love your home, so very welcoming.

This was one of the best home tours I’ve watched! I loved his wonderful, funny stories, such as the Zebra finches on Christmas Eve. I loved his attitude about comfort, about not being pretentious, or making anything be too precious. I loved his attitude about style, about filling a home with only things that you love. I loved his collections, and that he really uses them. I loved his bourbon voice and his bare feet. I absolutely could die for his bathroom, with that carved from Vermont stone trough style sink, and that outrageously beautiful metal bathtub. The home has beautiful moments all throughout. I even adored his Frenchie.
Now, I must go pour myself a bourbon in a silver cup.
I love that this is a traditional farmhouse, which makes it cozier. I love what he did to the kitchen floor - very unique and unusual. Love that he allowed the natural characteristics of wood to come through despite being painted. The home is beautiful and comfortable, proving that you can make it beautiful without making it so precious.❤

Everything he said is true, be comfortable in your home, don’t worry about being perfect. Have a white sofa & be comfortable on it. I did, even when my kids were little. My friends thought I was nuts, I would tell them it’s white it can easily be cleaned with bleach & it was! Love his kitchen floors & Tuck looking into the camera 🐶 he’s so cute! love the bookshelves in his bedrooms love everything about him his house & everything he said!!!
