As you know that man has created culture to satisfy/fulfill his various needs. This whole artificial environment is culture whether in material form or non-material form. Of many socio - cultural institutions, knowledge norms, practices, behaviours, customs created by man, medical knowledge is also one of them.. It is one of cultural heritage created by. Man in situation of illness, disease etc. When first time., human developed the knowledge of some medicinal plants that can cure their illness/disease /wounds etc., this ked to evolution of medical science /system. This is also one of the cultural institution that originated for fulfilment of sone needs. Tribal have knowledge of ethnomedicine long-long years ago. In the same way, during vedic age, ayurveda originated and with time various other medicinal systems were developed. In this way, as anthropology is the holistic study of man, everything that is related to man is studied in anthropology. Therefore like other cultural traits/institutions of human beings, this one is also studied in anthropology.
