I built this when it first came out and I shortened the chassis to be closer to the over the road tractors in my area. Your model looks much better than my efforts. Thanks for sharing this.
I bought three rubber duck convoy trucks off of Ebay over the last couple years. Saying they were poorly put together would be an understatement. I've started the restoring process on the trucks and watching your video gives a guy motivation to keep going and finish them. Thanks for the vid.
Built one of these years ago. Actually had the real truck. It was a DM600 Maxidyne (gold dog on the hood) One hell of a truck! Converted it into a tri-axle dump truck. Brings back a lot of good memories. Thanks.
You probably dont care at all but does anyone know a method to log back into an instagram account?? I was dumb forgot the login password. I would love any assistance you can offer me!
@Yahir Adan Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Thank you so much! This is my fourth truck by AMT and thanks to you it was very easy to follow and build my DM600 in no time. Great review👍 thumbs up from me 😁
Carisa, We're glad it helped because we're here to inform and inspire. Thanks for watching! PS, please help us reach more modelers by subscribing if you haven't done so already. -Doug
Great video! Managed to get my dirty mittens on ERTL's International Transtar II Eagle....looking forward to build it! Gonna get a few more rigs, for some fallen flags, P. I E., Consolidated Freightways, Navajo.... Keep at it kid! 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻
Dear Sir you did a great job building the DM600 Mack I've built several of these over the years and they all came out great! Of course, I tweaked all mine like moving the drive axles closer to each other so there isn't such a big gab between the axles very easy to do. I'm writing to you! because I, purchased another kit for a friend he wanted it for his office shelf! I built the model but on this particular issue the parts didn't line up or even come near as the older version,s the cab doesn't fit onto the cab mounts! I found many flaw,s the hood even with Tweaking cannot get it to line up properly! I decided to give my friend who is 72! one of mine from my display case and this kit is going to be part's only, I bought it at Hobby lobby along with other,s but for some odd reason? this model nothing fitted right and lot,s of flashing and sanding. I just wanted to see if you ever came across a model that nothing fitted right and many pieces,s that didn't line up! I've been building model,s professionaly since early 70,s along with owning & driving 25 Tractor,s and Trailer,s! keep up the great Video,s.
RY, I have come across kits that didn't fit properly either by design or old age. Sometimes the molds just wear out! Thanks for sharing and please subscribe if you haven't already to help us reach more modelers! -Doug
Smith Transfer used Macks like this over the road. They had only the driver's seat. The offset cab was referred to as a "Sidewinder" by the driver's. My Dad drove for the last few years he worked for Smith's
Gret job on this one. It looks like there is a lot of flash on the parts. I really wish Round 2 did a better job on restoring the old tooling before re releasing the kits. Got the '36 Ford, and boy, there is a LOT of flash, all around, and some serious mold lines on the body. The last '36 I built was a 80's edition Roadster, (the one with the yellow roadster on the cover) and the tooling was in much better shape.
Rusky - I know what you mean but I'm sure like everything else it's a trade-off. If they had to spend the money to get the molds fixed they might not be able to afford those tires that have brand marking on the sidewalls like Revell does. -Doug
How do you crank these out so fast?! Good job on all of the reviews I've watched so far, very helpful to see kit contents, and a build. Thanks for all of your work.
Right On Replicas Thanks Doug, that is very helpful. If you could add a link to the site so I directly click on it. You should also check out the gravel trailer from MPC. You can assemble as a trailer or dump box for the Mack DM 800 but I mounted the dump box to the DM 600.
ROR soon I'll be making the amt mack cruise liner. I'll make a video for you. Love your videos and subscribing. Where do you get your number plates from? I've also made a 1/72 hellcat. first model I built I'll make a video for that as well. I know you made a revell 67 Chevelle pro street make a video for that as well.
Do you know what year this is a replica of? I am looking for a 1972-73 Mack model R to use for a FDNY Rescue 2 cab & chassis. I will be eliminating one rear axle & scratch building the rear walk in rescue body from styrene. I already built a 1971 FDNY Rescue 1 from the AMT Mack R685ST (correct year) but can't find a 1972/73 year.
Joel, I hear ya. Sometimes you just have to make 'em fit or look for replacements on the aftermarket. Moebius sells a nice set that should work. Thanks for sharing and if you like what you see please subscribe, if you haven't already, to help us inspire more modelers! -Doug
SCR, It's pretty simple really. If you have a good design or image you simply size it up and print it out on some good decal paper. Once printed let them air dry for at least an hour them give the decal a couple mist coats of clear lacquer. There are two types of decal paper: white and clear. Home printers don't print white so you have to use the white paper and trim the decals appropriately after the clear coat has dried overnight. Always make a spare copy of them in case one doesn't work out! Apply as normally like factory ones. -Doug.

Nice of you to say John. Thanks for watching! -Doug

Hey KG, that's what we love to hear. Right On! -Doug

Neat trucks - makes you want to build another one like the conversion doesn't it! -Doug
I have to say that I love these videos!!!! I get excited whenever I get a new kit, and I find it here!!!! Thanks for doing them for us!!!
Glad to hear that Jeff, you rock! -Doug

@Yahir Adan it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy!
Thank you so much, you saved my account!
Excellent review of the Mack DM 600 Doug! I'm currently building the MPC Mack DM800! I just purchased the DM600 on eBay... Waiting for it to arrive!
THanks JG, It's a pretty nice build. Have fun! -Doug
I just got one when Hobby Lobby had it on sale for $11, it’s a very cool model from the 60s’.
HM, You have an eye for value! -Doug

I've got friends in low places! -Doug
Building it as a Roadway daycab is doable. Roadway used Mack’s like this with duel or single drive axles.
RB, Thanks for the info! -Doug
Excellent review sir I built that many years ago as the Convoy truck hopefully they reissue the R model so you can build one also
Thanks Rich - we can only hope! -Doug
If they reissue the dm600 CONVOY version, I would buy a half dozen just for the CONVOY parts!
Oooohh i would so have to make that into the Mad Max tanker.
Rob - Sounds like fun but you're in for some extra detailing there! -Doug
The Mad Max tanker was a standard R-series, not the offset U model
CEO - That's the beauty of plastic - you can make it into anything you want! -Doug
Thank you that means so much to me.
ROR,Doug. I could take some inspiration for my mack cruise liner, I'm getting it around Christmas time. Can you please make one for me to copy.
KM, I'll see if I can find one too! -Doug
Have you built the Mack R685ST yet, or are you planning on building it soon?
I just got it as a gift for my birthday, is my next project. Thank you.
FG, It's in the queue, but quite a ways off. Construction will be similar to this one.. Thanks! -Doug
I have two of these kits and I would like to get the rough tires for both. But when I went to visit the site I couldn't buy the rough tires.
JB, Sorry Josh but you might send an email to them to inquire or see if they can be found at the online auctions. -Doug

love your videos

VD, I'd guess it's a '73 DM600 based on the grill. PS, please help us reach more modelers by subscribing if you haven't done so already. -Doug
Os trucks americanos são os melhores.
Thank you RoR really god to know
SCR, Amen brother! -Doug
I wish they fix the rubber tires , they don't fie properly.

Me gustó
Obrigado Juan! -Doug
Debería haber en Cali en hobbies and colectibles en unicentro y que sea un modelo a escala fácil de armar
Juan, no lo llamaría "fácil" de ensamblar simplemente porque tiene muchas piezas. ¡Es más para constructores intermedios! -Doug
Is there any body out there that can send me ware I can find a 1966 diamond tee 1/64 scale two axil tracter trailer. Thanks
Geez BH, that's a specialty item for sure! I guess there's always a scratch build option! -Doug
this truck is a pain, with striping crome
HH - It will take a lot of test fitting and finesse to do it proud. Patience is required! -Doug
thank you Doug,, right now this kit is a pain in ass, strippin crome,
HH - I hear dat! It's really the only way to get the tanks and parts looking good though. Hang in there. It's cool when finished! -Doug
Chears.
