    Morning. Nice haul ! I’ve Always used shad for crab bait. Are they good to eat ? Love to hear all about how you cook them. Yummy

      Well, it's hard to say since everyone has a different taste. Shad born in river, wild raise in ocean, and they have high level of Omega-3. So they should be good for our health. If you can use shad to exchange for crabs that's even better. Thanks for dropping me a line!

    Nice video, thanks for sharing it. where did you buy the pencil weight? thanks

    • @WestCoastOutdoors
      @WestCoastOutdoors  2 года назад

      I am glad you like it. It called 1/4" coil lead. I cut them into about 3" in length, and used lead posting pliers to punch a hole on one end to connect to a swivel.

    I went to Bonneville dam today and didn't get anything or see other fisherman. When is the best time to go for shad or salmon? I also couldn't find a good spot smh

    • @WestCoastOutdoors
      @WestCoastOutdoors  2 года назад

      Best time for Shad fishing is around end of May to end of June. For salmon, spring and early fall. Check fish count and check emergency regulations before you go because they change all the time.

    The jighead bait and the swivel +hook bait which one is better?

    • @WestCoastOutdoors
      @WestCoastOutdoors  2 года назад +1

      I like both of styles. The swivel + hook style usually works very well on on the sunny day. But you really need the variety of jigs to switch out if something is not as effective on a given day. Although I mainly fish with those two styles. Well, good luck and enjoy catching them.

    I was gonna go today! Do we need a loop knot to tie the jig sir? Or just a normal uni?

    • @WestCoastOutdoors
      @WestCoastOutdoors  2 года назад

      Any knots should work as long it's secured to your line. Dam closes at 5PM on Oregon side, so still not too late to go :)
