This Driveway Catastrophe has been Neglected for Over 10 Years!

- Sometimes after starting a job, I really question my sanity. This one is one of those jobs. I was speaking with the local postman a few jobs ago, and he recommended this yard and said it was well out of control and overgrown. Let me tell you, he wasn't wrong. Initially, when I went around to have a look, I passed on this job, and it went into the “too hard” basket! After a couple of more drives past, I decided to give it a try. I soon realise that I had made a terrible mistake. It was an absolute nightmare to complete. As you can see, it has years of growth over it - trees, blackberries, wood, rubbish, some type of vine, off cuts, a real disaster! I spoke to the neighbour, and he said that he had been there for 6 years and this section hadn't really been touched in any significant way. I thought that I could get it done in an episode, but Easter and the weather had something to say about that, so it will be completed in multiple parts. All up, this job took me around 8 hours to complete, including 3 trips to the landfill. This is episode 1 of 11.

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: I am from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 5 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: Mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I would say it's because Australia had a temperate to tropical climate, and therefore it doesn't matter that much if they are outdoors. To me, though, it seems a bit inefficient to have them outside in Tasmania with a temperate climate (coldish for 3 - 4 months per year). But that is industry standard down here 🤷♂️
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering I always take away the green waste.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it, as my shed is too small.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on on to the properties.
4. I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k AUD on a stander, but it would be nice to have one!
5. I will get one as soon as my transport and storage problems are solved.
Q: What types of ladders do you use?
A: The large one is a Gorilla Adjustable Platform 150kg and the small one is a Gorilla Mighty 19. They are both adjustable.
Q: Who/what is Jim's Mowing?
A: Jim's Mowing is a franchise business. The Jim's Group is the biggest home services franchise in Australia.
Q: Why do you have 2 channels that seem to be the same?
A: Quick Cuts (my original channel) has music in the background. Quick Cuts V2 is for those that like just machine noise, and it doesn't have music.
I know this was a challenge for you, and I think it was a great thing for you to undertake. I know you felt like it was a mistake once you got into it, but you persevered!!! An awesome job and you must feel so good about finishing! I love to watch your videos and see you conquer things that most people would just pass by. That is what makes you such a good person George, don't ever feel bad for trying!
I think you have a big heart of gold for doing such a much needed job. We all know that you always go for the most needed places. I’ve always love the work you do and the people you help. Keep up the fantastic jobs you do I’m inspired by you to help others.
No crazy jungle exists that George can't handle. Soooo satisfying to see that tree in the back coming down. George the miracle worker!!
George of the Jungle 😅
God bless him!
Oh that’s way more than six years my friend! That’s at least a decade+ of no attention. Thank you for tackling it. I think at one point you even looked around and thought “what IS this? “ thank you George.
Bloody hell George!!!! What were you thinking????? 😲😲😲😲
What a hard out job for 1 person to clean up. You're a true work horse and a legend. 🙏👍👏👏👏👏
WOW! George you might need Part 3 as well. The amount of tree limbs and sod was like WOW! I like how you section out like a 3 foot by 3 foot area and then go to the next one, until you have it all done. Thanks for letting us know what kind of trees those are, I find it very cool. The music was so pretty and fitting for what you were doing. I know a lot of people want to hear the machine noise, sorry sound 😁, but I appreciate being able to watch you work without all the clammier. lol Hope this finds you having a great weekend. I look forward to Part 2!!
George, you are amazing. You aren't afraid to tackle the toughest of jobs.
George what a big heart you have ❤!
Yes many lawn guys would have run away from this yard , others would have over over charged and done a poor job, but you George are the lawn yard whisperer. I have no doubt it will look amazing 🤩!
I do have to say, some comments towards homeowner are harsh! We don’t know what has happened in their lives, it could be mental, physical, financial the reason the yard looks terrible.
Here comes George no judgment here and takes on this job!
***Please consider doing the backyard and maybe reach out to folks near you to help. Also maybe get a waste disposal company to donate a trash container. NO pressure George.
Thank you for your big heart ❤️! God continue to bless you 🙏🏼🌹🌟😊
I agree with you wholeheartedly. People are too quick to judge other people without knowing their circumstances. If it doesn't bother George, who is doing all the labor, why should it bother his viewers? George sits in judgment of no one, he just sees what needs to be done and tackles the job head-on! Absolutely professional transformation every time, George, and I enjoy watching you help people in need! You change peoples' lives and communities one yard at a time! God Bless you, George, and your family!
George, you truly work wonders! I never miss a video of yours. You’re the best in the business! 👍
Can't blame you a bit for not wanting to tangle with blackberry vines! They are vicious! Can't wait for part two!
Goodness I got overwhelmed just watching that! I bet you slept well that night George, you’re an absolute work horse!
George, I am only a minute or so in, I know this is going to be amazing...I SO look forward to a new vid from quick cuts...love from Yorkshre UK xx
What a challenge you had here, George. But, you rose to the challenge, and made a mighty difference. We can now see that there is a garage at the end of the driveway!!! Looking forward to Part 2.
George, I can never get enough of your yard transformations! I look forward to them each week.
I too look forward to his next video every week to see George in action
So glad you decided to go ahead with this transformation. Very satisfying for the owner, the neighbours, us watching and hopefully you too.
Hi George, That job would scare away most gardeners. It's all the rubbish removal as well as the cutting, mowing, and trimming. Good on you. I'm looking forward to seeing part 2. Good idea to leave the back.
Look after yourself. ❤ from Queensland
The best thing for this lady"s backyard if its full of blackberries is a goat land clearing service. Goats love blackberries! They eat most of the bush stickers and all! In my city of Seattle, WA blackberries and English ivy quickly invade and conquer any unattended land. Goats are often used to clear fenced in areas out in a few days time. Have an area in my city which is a ravine which is cleared out yearly by the goats. Its fun to watch them and they do a great job!
Don't know if poison ivy is a problem in Australia, but goats will devour it as well!
@@JoyceB-qv9xq fortunately for the rest of the world poison ivy is a north America thing. we should use it as a defense weapon!!
I bet no one but you, George would take on a job like this. I was feeling bad for you to see how long it took you to just get two feet. My body ached for you. God bless you, George!!
You have the best music of most shows I’ve watched. Great job.
Of course …your nemesis the dreaded blackberries 😳 You are quite the amazing yardman George. All you guys have your own style but you are the best. Watching from South Carolina. 🇺🇸👏🏼❤️
Amazing work as usual George. You are a hero for those people that have been unable to take care of their property for financial or health reasons.
This place hit the jackpot when the mailman referred it to you to deal with. It will be the talk of the neighborhood for a long time. Love your videos.
You are a brave man George! I kept expecting you to reveal a forgotten car or trailer!!!
You are not insane, George. You are just too kind....I enjoyed the piece of music at the end - horizon. Very appropriate with this mighty carpet-cutting work!! Warm greetings from London UK ❤💂
How did the homeowner get in and out of the property??? Gold star for attempting the job.
I was wondering the same thing!
I was wondering how they did it too
That's what I want to know to 😳
Ik right me 2 😱
There's a gate on the other side of the fence
Oh George, that was a nightmare! Fair play to you, a man on a mission. Hard work & great results. Bet you were sore after that one! Good work 👍💚
Thank God for you George! This dear lady and her property really need you!!
Great job 😊😊. Can't wait to see when finished. Have a wonderful weekend George 😊😊
Great start George! Looking forward to seeing how this one goes but am sure watching you all this time it will be fantastic! 👍
When you said 'driveway catastrophe' you weren't kidding. That weed mat must have been sooooo heavy!! 😲 It is going to look amazing when you are finished and you have already made an incredible difference. It's shocking how much shrub and vine overgrowth you dragged out of there. You said you weren't going near the back yard......lol..... you know that means we will all be hoping you will!!! ❤😊
How did you even find the door to knock? Well done, George. I know it's been hotter than blazes for quite a while there in Tassie and still you are out in it putting everything you've got to clean up for people in need. Love the work you do.
FUNNY about finding the door.
Looks like an excuse to go and hire a bobcat or Dingo... break you way through with some bigger toys... but you got through using the same method as eating an elephant... one bite at a time...
Absolutely! That would speed things up considerably! Bobcat/Dingo or even a small excavator! I wonder if one of the hire companies would sponsor you using their equipment for the advertising you could provide?
I look at it and go NO WAY. you are a weapon George. You are so kind hearted. 💕
If I was 30 years younger, I would love to help. God bless you bro. That is hard work. Unforgiving work. Love your channel friend.
Big toys = big $$$$%
I felt sad and angry seeing a garden left so neglected. There is no excuse for the owner.
Luckily, you came and rescued it, gave another chance to life.
Respect!
Wow, there's no way to get through that at all. When I see the extension on the hedge trimmer, my arms hurt just looking at it. Respect for the work you did. I'm looking forward to part 2.
I remember when I started this job, my arms used to ache a lot. It ok now days though :)
@@QuickCuts I know that, I cut my hedge myself a few days ago. But I'm only 1.60 m tall and my hedge is almost 3 meters
George this is gigantic job. I have every confidence that you can handle anything. You are the best.
Well all I can say is big thank you for helping this poor lady even though it’s hard work for you that’s what keeps your videos interesting with the type of customers you come across and desperately need help well done ❤😊
God bless you George!! It's obvious no one wanted to do this job. You are awesome and I'm glad you decided to continue this work. You're really one of very few people in the world. ✝️🤲✝️
Love watching your work. Keep doing this woman’s yard. I know she will appreciate it so much. I would. Caring from North Carolina, USA..
Truly a mess and the most catastrophe garden. Bless U for taking up such an impossible transformation task. 💪
You certainly challenge yourself! I await next weeks episode. Great job on what you've already accomplished, I wish I had half of your energy!
You truly are amazing, George!!!! Wonderful job!!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😎😎😎🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜
That was a perfect garden afterwards, a lady of her age could not have done any of her garden, I bet she missed the blackberries though.
Wow!! What a jungle! That didn’t just happen overnight, I think that’s the worst yard yet! Fantastic hard work George. Look forward to the next part.
Such a tough job... having my own garden and being busy all the time I understand how hard it is for you to clean all this up in such a short time. It would take me days! But you did it!!! Bravo George!!! Greetings from GREECE! 🌞
Gee, this is a tough one. Well done, George, you take on the jobs everyone else is afraid off. Good entertainment cheers Vicki and Mitch WA.
It takes a special kind of soul to take on such a huge project but the postman was right to ask you!! Looks like its gonna take a few attempts but I'm sure you can handle it. Bravo!! Bless you for helping out on such a nice yard. 🥰❤️🤗
I had a feeling this was going to be multiple videos. That's a big project. You are doing a great thing helping others out. Sometimes it takes a special person with specific skills to handle jobs like this. You are a uniquely skilled person who can tackle jobs like this. You did an amazing job on this part one. I can't wait to see part two. Have a great weekend!
Your stamina and endurance is beyond measure. I don't know how you can keep going. Great job ❤😊
I can imagine that there are jobs that aren't really fun. That you took on this task - respect! Greetings from Germany 🥸
G'day mate, did you change your screen name?
@@QuickCuts Yes i have. But still so excited about your work and attitude. Your channel member. 🥸
Definitely you are a brave man!!!...... On top of everything else. A big hug from Lérida, Spain
Isn’t he amazing! ♥️ from USA
George of the jungle!🤣😂 Great job! 🎉👏👏👏🤩👍😊Such a hard worker 👍
That looks like a job for a crew of, perhaps arborists?, that have access to larger tools. Tools starting with chainsaws and a wood chipper, to reduce the wood to mulch on-site and haul it away for disposal. That you did this with the hand tools (both powered and manual) that you have was amazing and must have been absolutely exhausting. Good on you, George, to do whatever you can for this lady.
I don't think disasters can scare George! The new video fills you with energy and encourages you to go out to your site, which has already been cleared of snow! Greetings from Finland!
Wow, what a mamoth job and you have more still to do. Great work, George. Again thank you for the work you do to help others. Greeting from Melbourne.
Wow! Almost looked like someone got a load of soil delivered and never used it. I am full of admiration for your tenacity. Can't wait for part 2!
George! You’re a beast!!! And patient!
George, you are such an amazing man. God speed on this one.
Another great job . I’ve watch this twice and so enjoyed it .Thanks George .
Simply fenomenal job!!! The neighbors must be very happy. I think it will be a saga, not just two parts story.😮
You truly are the best in your field. I can’t wait to see the results of this one.
SWEET BABY MOSES!! Unbelievable neglect!! Keep doing what you do so well!! 😇 = YOU!! 🙏🏻❤
God bless you and your family. 🤗 another great job
Great transformation George. I’ve learned a lot about Australia since watching your channel.
Good morning, George! I look forward to your posts every week! Greetings from Chicago!
Bravo! You are working so hard! We need more people like you in this world!
We have gardens like this where I live. I think it's an absolute disgrace that people allow their gardens to get into this state that looks like years of neglect. I feel sorry for the neighbour's not thehomeownerss. Having said tha, I think you are the best gardenmakeoverr guy on YouTub. Thankss for all your hard work and for caring ❤
Do you know the house owners health or reason that it got like this, if you don't then give it some thought before you comment like this. No body is perfect.
Вы все равно супер!. Так чисто и окуратно работаете. Молодчина!.
Wow! I am so impressed!! I would've given up!! Strong work!!!😊
Wonderful job George. 👏👏👏🦘🦘🦘
Wow!! What a mess! You can handle it!! Love watching you tackle these bad ones !!
For a relatively small area this was one of the hardest jobs I’ve seen undertaken , well done mate , I can’t wait to see the remainder of the work to be carried out .
Fantastic transformation
OMG Just opening your video I can already see ... you've got a big job ahead of you... (now gotta see the rest)
Wow, what a challenge. It is entertaining for your fans👍you are a star for even attempting this job. Well done you👏👏👏⭐️🥇🌹
Wow! How did she ever get out the door? You are an amazing man....can't wait to see the next part 2.....after this, you need a vacation George!
Glad you didn’t pass this one up!! What a lot of backbreaking work!!! Thank you!! Can’t wait to see the final!!
Un lavoro impressionante!!! Da mettersi a piangere!!! Sei un tipo tosto e hai parecchia forza e resistenza!!!👏👏👏👏👏 Complimenti!!!
ABSOLUTELY WOOOOW 😱😱 can't wait for part 2 . Good luck George 👍 😊
Amazing as usual. Can't wait to see the next part. Love how you you never miss a thing George. The best there is!!!! Beautiful makeovers.
Would love to see you transforming the back yard. Fantastic work on the front yard so far. I look forward to you every week. Hello from Northern Ireland ❤
Wow - wow - wow! You removed a ton of brush already and in such a tight area! This will be amazing to see in the end! That is a lot of work - slow and steady is the only way possible. Take care and thanks for showing us your challenge!
That driveway had not seen the light of day in years. Great job!
GEORGE!!!!!! This could be your biggest transformation yet. I'm excited to see what you will do.
Definitely one for the books! At least when those Vietnamese guys attack the same kind of situation, they have a team. You did it all alone, amazing. 🇨🇦💕
Wow!!!! The craziest garden until now!!!! What a mess!!!!
Speechless George, I agree this has got to be your hardest yet. Great job.
George, I am exhausted just watching this one, Another ott clean up, well done you. King of the overgrown garden clean ups.
In the first few seconds - holy crap!!! Massive job.
T HAT was a THICK mess can't wait to see the next episode!!
What about a collaboration project with all the Australians? Would be epic: Blademate, Mowing for Mental Health, Tim the Lawnmower Man, etc.
But isn’t George in Tasmania?
That would be awesome! Find the biggest, worst yard you can find! I love when my favs get together on a job, here in the US.
That bush is HUGE. Maybe you should have brought a young man with you to at least Carrie it all to the truck. While you did all the cutting. Your arms must be falling off. Cheryl
I was thinking Blade Mate could help and bring his helper(s) to work on the untouchable back area. Maybe you are right, it may take more than that. I haven't watched the others' videos yet.
Oh absolutely! They do in on US lawn care channels, and I've seen it in the UK as well. I don't know who else is active in or near Hobart, though.
You always do such an amazing job.Get some well deserved rest.Hi from Indiana in the United States of America.❤
George, another amazing transformation.. Thank you for sharing
Good grief, George! That is a nightmare yard! It’s like cutting turf or sod, trying to get the driveway clear. Makes you wonder what happened in this person’s life 6 years ago to cause this to happen. Excellent job as always, George! Cheers! ❤️🇨🇦
Oh my goodness George 😲 that weed mat was like old carpet that had been glued down 😱 you did a fantastic job, love you video’s 👍
Fantastic work so far, George! Awesome!! Looking forward to the second episode. Absolutely loved the first musical piece!
Hruzostrasna zahrada a příjezdová cesta! Máš můj velký obdiv jak jsi to postupně likvidoval! Perfektní práce, gratuluji a přeji hezký víkend! 👍👍🏆🌿Jana 🌿👋
You are a brave man to tackle that👍
Lots of work❤You must be famous all over the city for your work❤
Wow George, that is a big mess. Looked like it was almost 2’ thick at the back area. I was waiting to see if you were going to dig the gate out of the mess. Well done!
Good on the postman for remembering and thinking of you, for this property. I'd be fine if you took FIVE episodes, over five weeks, to do it all. Maybe for the back blackberries you could invite a guest helper; misery loves company! I'm glad you chose to go ahead with this job.
That looked like nothing but crazy hard work. Great job.
Huge kudos, what a mammoth undertaking 😮. Look after yourself.
