- Birmingham City Council is set to vote on making £300 million worth of service cuts over two years, the largest budget cut in local authority history.
At a budget council meeting on March 5, a decision will be made on proposed cuts to local services, a year after the council's bankruptcy declaration.

Birmingham council should sack the fools who wasted all the money, start at the top. Hold them accountable.
Council tax should be based on the number of people over 18 living there. a family of 3 pay the same as a single occupant yet the single occupant creates FAR less waste, uses far less social resources yet is punished for doing so.
Yes, but look at it like this. A couple will likely split the council tax bill 50/50. Whereas a single person has to pay 100% of the bill even though its 25% less. Still a con.@user-si7fj5rh5u
We had a system that did just that. It was called poll tax but no one wanted it.

If you live in Birmingham, please gèt out of there, relocate to somewhere else, don't be a victim for the actions of useless council officials.
This is down to the utter ineptitude of the people running the place, and it’s been the case for years. The annual budget from government for Birmingham is £3.2 Billion divide that by the population and it gives you a spend of approximately £2,666 per person.
Contrast that to Manchester City council that has a budget from local government of just £804 million. Divide that by the population and it gives you a spend of just £1,386 per person. So Birmingham is given 63% more money per head of population than Manchester, but has still managed to find a way to make itself bankrupt…..
Oh and by the way Manchester seems to be thriving.

I'm sure there must be protests about this,but strangely nothing on MSM.if I lived in Birmingham and paid exorbitant rates for years,I'd be beside myself.i wouldn't pay that council a single penny for years,I'd go to jail first,imagine pensioners on fixed Incomes or low paid home owners.not a chance on earth would I pay them a penny,and all the while the chief execs earning six figure salaries to manage your money.
