In 2021, the Ravenna Railroad Festival moved across the tracks from a city park to "The Yard." The festival is a day of family-oriented fun including train rides, arts and crafts booths, a petting zoo, live music, food trucks, and more. This year, the Gramlings brought Jeddo Coal no. 85 with them to pull steam-powered excursion trains throughout the festival.

Jeddo Coal Co. 85 is an awesome tank engine! I saw it for the first time at the Walkersville Southern Railroad in Maryland.

My dad worked for L&N in Louisville and was involved with the restoration of the General and the US tour it went on. He was always so mad at the clowns in Georgia that filled the boiler with concrete to keep the locomotive from ever leaving again as at the time the City of Chattanooga still wanted it and Kennesaw was afraid the train would be stolen again if they didn't permanently disable it. A lot of guys had put in a lot of hours in Louisville to make it run and look like new and they were heartbroken by what was done.

I saw this loco at the STEWARTSTOWN, PA RR. I was amazed at how they actually trucked this loco there. It gave folks a chance to see a real steamer in action.

I just got home from seeing the 85 in person and riding behind it! It was the first time I’ve ever been able to see and hear a steam locomotive in person despite my 26 years of being a train enthusiast 😂

I've been to Gramling Locomotive Works out in Ashley, Indiana when I was going to do some railfanning up in Michigian, and turns out Barney Gramling saw me during the 2019 Polar Express excursions

My mother is a Ravenna Ky native. My grandfather, her dad was Basil Seale a legendary (known for speed) engineer for the L&N railroad. My dad grew up at Rices Station outside of Irvine and his dad, my grandfather John Traylor was a railroad repairman for the L&N. Dad packed us up and headed north and like many Kentuckians found work in the meat packing industry in Indiana in the early 50’s and finally retiring from Cummins Engine Co., in Columbus In.

That's awesome that the Gramling Family brought one of their tank engines to run on the Kentucky Steam Heritage Corporation's property and it being the first steam locomotive to run in both Ravenna, KY and Irvine, KY in over 50 years! I met John and Barney before, they're great guys. I'm supporting the Chesapeake & Ohio #2716's return to steam and I have no doubt that it's going to look amazing in its Chesapeake & Ohio livery in Connecticut running on the Naugatuck Railroad line/Railroad Museum of New England since that part of Connecticut looks very similar to Kentucky as shown in these shots in this video.

Amazing how many people desire to ride the train, and fill the boarding area with so many cars. Most other countries besides America have modern efficient trains that arent museum style. Amazing how America views trains as something of the past when car centricism itself has financially crippled families. America needs light rail, commuter rail and high speed rail. Stop complete car dependency....stand up against the auto barons. Expose the Koch brothers. Its fine to honor rail history and heritage, absolutely no issue, but use this opportunity to wake up from car dependency. Biggest mistake was to design cities as being completely car centric from the ground up. Its not working. People are way to isolated too in America because of the car culture. Trains arent just something from the past. They are relevant. America's car dependency has expired. It's not freedom forcing people into car ownership and having no other means of transportation.
