    There's no wonder that one of the greatest games ever played was in the Botvinnik Semi-Slav - that's one of the sharpest openings in existence, and in this sense, the 1. d4 counterpart of the Sicilian Najdorf. The video has reminded me to search for the Botvinnik Semi-Slav on RUclips and binge on the search results :)

    I just want to say that the first 7 half-moves are Alpha Zero's favourite, Alpha Zero plays d4, d5, c4, c6, Nc3, Nf6, Nf3 all the time against itself, then, after that it plays a6, not the e6 in this game. After a6, it plays g3, then comes dxc4, preparing a5, then a4 as white, that's the most usual moves played by Alpha Zero, which they call the "Principal Variation" in the PDF paper.
    So, if Alpha Zero is correct, then you shouldn't play e6 in The Slav Defense, you should play a6.
    Another interesting note in the paper is that Alpha Zero won 24 games with 26 draws in The Queen's Pawn Game as white, this is a very high ratio. In The Queen's Gambit it scored 16 wins with 34 draws as white. It scored the highest ratios as white against The Caro-Kann Defense, The French Defense, however, this only shows that those openings are highly questionable. Alpha Zero likes to play e5 against e4, it also likes to play 1. d4 or 1. c4. Ultimately chess is most likely a draw however Alpha Zero, I assume, aims for the lines which have 'the most winning variations' or something of this sort.

      I tried to workout the next move by pausing video, and then when the queen sac was revealed I said out loud "What!". I think it was intuitive,. When I saw it was a swap off idea I was still wondering how he was going to get that other rook. If he really calculated that far its incredible, but maybe it was the psychological shock value of the q sac that would unsettle your opponent. Is the loss of the black rook forced?

    • @bencaruso1346
      @bencaruso1346 6 лет назад +1

      Henning Högberg Absolutely! Ivanchuk has always been an extremely dangerous player and his ability to play creative ideas accurately is a big part of that; I believe Kasparov had mentioned the danger of playing Ivanchuk a very long time ago which was understandable to warn his friends. Ivanchuk has another recent positional Brilliancy as Black beating former World Champion Kramnik, V in this year's World Cup with a B13 Caro-Kann, Exchange, Rubinstein variation, Round 3, 0-1 you may have all ready looked over where Engines as well have a difficult time finding exactly where Kramnik went wrong - In that game Ivanchuk went up a pawn on move 27 and my extensive study of the game can only suggest Kramnik needed to at least bring his Queen to d1 on move 33 instead of b5 where it seemed to lack harmony with his other pieces and I think the Queen should've been played to the Center with 33.Qd1 at least in an effort to continue keeping additional guard on his isolated pawn at d4 (Once he lost that pawn the game was really over). It's amazing that in the game Kramnik finally got his pawn back on move 55 only to see his whole Position slipping quickly away and Ivanchuk just demolished Kramnik after that with an outstanding finish! Oh, agadmator has an awesome presentation of that game here: ruclips.net/video/rU74r2JATbA/видео.html Also, Just recently I was glancing over another of Ivanchuk's complete Brilliancies where he was White and played into a B33 Sicilian, Pelikan (Lasker/Sveshnikov) variation in Ivanchuk, V vs Muzychuk, A, 1-0, 2013 and in that game he takes a pawn with his Queen on the Queenside and is up a pawn. Then, Ivanchuk brings the Queen back to the Center and near his Kingside. In that game too, The Engine does not like or at least does not 'understand' what he is doing at move 30.Qg4? and then we see the Engine struggling with 0.00's indicating he is only Equal up until move 33.Qh4? Then an Engine at first gave Ivanchuk's move 34.Ng4 an evaluation of 0.00 as if he was only 'Equal' and was looking at a Draw but then I had to move forward through a few more moves (to where it was more clear he was winning) then when I backed up to where I was it suddenly gave Ivanchuk a +1.29 advantage and this quickly grew by the time he played 37.f3! it was re-evaluated as him having a +3.41 (more than a Knight or Bishop) advantage even though he was only up a pawn (normally only would give him about a +1.00) and on Invanchuk's move 39.Qe2 the Engine finally calculates he has a forced mate in 12! which is where his opponent Anna Muzychuk then finally resigned. Ivanchuk's Kingside attack doesn't look like much at first glance and the Engine can't even calculate that he's winning at first so I know exactly what you mean about an Engine not agreeing with some of his moves or at least not really 'understanding' some of his moves in computer calculation. I hope you enjoy studying more of his games in the future like that as I have for years and with watching great instructive videos like this one! Take care :)

    Tal is so unpredictable, that he becomes predictable, because you can always expect the craziest move possible. #tal (honestly, when I first started to watch Tal games, I could never guess his next move. Nowadays, I just expect the most incredible sacrifice, and 50% of the times I'm right)

    I was telling a coworker who's also a chess enthusiast and far more studied compared to me i should point, about your previous video featuring Ivanchuk vs Kasparov. He remarked that in his opinion and I quote "Ivanchuk was the worst enemy of himself" and he further elaborated that he thought/has read that Ivanchuk kinda collapsed at some point.
    Thoughts? Comments?

    Always amazing how those cracks avaluate the position and then opt for an unalanced game that is totally winning at the end...this made me reconsider my options in my own games...classical I mean, where you can afford to calculate even silly lines...sometimes it´s really the right thing not to retreat or defend when material is at stake, but to let it happen and follow up with the positional edge you get (IF you get one LOL)...but those occasions are quite rare though haha...2000+ players usually know their stuff haha. even more impressive if you defeat another SuperGM like this ....

    +AGADMATOR Can you please analyse the game between Topalov and Shirov during Linares 1998? Shirov won the game with an amazing bh3!! sacrifice followed by sharp pawn vs bishop endgame.

    A/GAD/MATOR enjoyed the video explaining the meaning of the word Agadmator more or less an older wise guy When it comes to Chess I believe this very true Agadmator is an OG not as in old guy or original gangster more as Organizer of Genius

    Your videos are awesome agadmaster. However, I would like to draw your attention towards correcting the pronunciation of Anand's name. Its true that he writes "Viswanathan", but the actual name is "Vishwanathan". So, you should use "sh" in his name rather than "s". By the way, if you are curious what his name means, then I will tell you... Vishwa means World and Nathan means Lord, so his name means the Lord of the World. Thanks.

    أشكرك على هذا المجهود القيم يا صديقي أنا أحب هذه القناة كثيرا .
    في الحقيقة إيفانشوك يعتبر ولي عهد الشطرنج في زمانه مثل بول كيريس وأنا أعتبره عبقريا لكن في زمانه كان الأسطورة كسباروف في أوج قوته لهذا منع من لقب بطل العالم لكن له أدوار رائعة وخالدة تدل على عبقريته .تحياتي لك أنت حقا مبدع .
