  • All of us likely have friends and family that go to church on Sunday but don't live like Christians outside of church. How can we live as an example to them and help them follow Jesus?

I think we need to clarify whether we’re talking about unrepentant sinners, or Christians that struggle with a particular sin. I do not think it’s helpful to cut out someone who is struggling with a sin like pornography just because. I think it’s important to note that all Christians struggle with something. But the important thing is whether they want to change and are actively repentant and going to God in prayer. The devil is the accuser. I don’t think we should be cutting out brothers and sisters, just because they struggle with sin as we all do. We are all fallen in nature. The only reason any of us are saved is by the grace of God. Do not forsake someone just because they struggle, but try to help them see the light and find freedom.

Yes. For those Christians that are struggling with a particular sin AND understand that their sin will lead them to Hell, those are the people that we should hold accountable because ultimately that's what they want, accountability to help them break free from their struggle. Now for those unrepentant sinners who call themselves Christians yet indulge in the sins of the world all while not looking for a way out of their sin, those people who aren't looking for answers are the ones we should separate from to show that there is a difference between a Follower of Jesus and a person who attends church. Otherwise those people will believe that they are headed to Heaven rather than the reality of their destination in Hell.

I think one of the main differences between the two is action. If you are struggling, but have not taken any steps to prevent it or confessed to your life groups, there is no struggle.
On the other hand, if you are working through it with your church members and leaders and have confessed while still stumbling, that is an entirely different story.
Like James says, the work proves the faith.

Super good episode! What a great explanation of the responsibility we have to one another as brothers and sisters in Christ to keep each other accountable.

I’ve had to cut ties with my mom because she says she is a Christian but doesn’t act it. I’ve had to cut ties with all family members. I know the last days are supposed to hard, but it’s sad I can’t have a relationship with them. Obedience is hard but God is blessing me because of it

Posting on Instagram that you are at church & the next picture is you black out at the bar. You’re hurting your own witness.

Is 1 Cor 5:11 referencing any friend who claims to be a Christian, or only those that you attend church with/part of the local congregation?
