    Not surprised at all that a small percentage are Mustang owners. The typical Mustang owner logically doesn’t have the resources to purchase the GTD. In addition, the money people see this car as something more than a Mustang- which in reality is true.

    I am a C8 owner and started the application for the GTD and didnt complete it. I had a mustang 35 years ago and about 25 years ago and a current F150. But the application asked about “historic fords etc..”. I also drive my car a couple thousand miles a year and enjoy shows… but i dont “track” my car. I felt i had no shot and didnt complete it. I wish you the best of luck and hope you get one!

    I'm kind of shocked at the stats they put out. Would have thought a larger percentage would have been Mustang owners they should be choosing ppl who have been involved w Ford & will USE the vehicle the way it's MEANT TO BE DRIVEN..🏎💨💨 YOU DEFINITELY DESERVE the ALLOCATION !!! GREAT video by the way!!!

    • @Sloimer

      It isn’t for the average Mustang owner. Just like the 911 Turbo S is for a different segment than the Boxter. Not complicated.

      Seriously don’t know how to make it anymore simple, Austin saying he’s surprised there are not many Mustang buyers putting down applications and I responded that it’s normal seeings how it’s way out of the regular Mustang owners budget…not sure what’s so complicated to understand here!!

    I understand why Ford made the application process so onerous, but aren't they a manufacturer? Why not just build as many as people want if the goal is to get them in the hands of those who will drive them? So what if a number of people don't drive them. Just sell more of them. It's not Ford's job to push the value of the car up due to planned scarcity. Again, aren't they a manufacturer? If over 7,000 people were willing to jump through all the hoops of the application process, I wasn't, then why not just build that many. In fact, why not build as many as they can sell? Again, the point is to get them in the hands of people that will drive them. Broken record .. replay.

      I hope not! Another thought just crossed my mind... what if a big portion of these are repeat applications from multiple family members or people connected? Let's say you apply, your brother, your son, etc... Didn't consider that!

    Austin- are dealers allowed to mark up the GTD cost above msrp if you are given an allocation by Ford? Is Ford making sure you can buy the GTD at msrp if selected by Ford? Would you believe the GTD will increase in value immediately? My bet is there is no big appreciation above msrp. Pricing around $225,000 would have been more rational.

    • @SpeedPhenom
      @SpeedPhenom  4 месяца назад

      I don't think Ford dealers marked up Ford GTs when new, so I'm guessing the GTD is the same way... I don't know if it will increase in value. I would like for all these cars to at least retain their value. It all depends on the reception from people after the car has been out for a while. Regardless, I think this really applies to people who intend on sitting with the vehicle immobilized in the garage. I intend on miles and the track! Let's see what happens! :)

    What are we classifying as a supercar? Is a 911 a supercar or just the right model? Is a nissan gtr a super car? You would for sure say a Lamborghini Gallardo is a supercar, but the gtr is faster.

    Still too much money for a mustang regardless of how great the car is or may be. It’s not their market. The GT was a stretch and is a niche departure for them. The GT500 even seems beyond the ford customer price point

    I just dont see who would pay this much for a mustang? $325k is going to turn into $400k with options. You’re into Super Ferrari numbers price wise. I can get a 911 GT2RS for this. It’s just an idiotic product from a company that should be making a corvette competitor. Would you rather go to the track in a GT3RS McLaren or Ferrari or a Ford Mustang? Why not a $500,000 escape? This is stupid. Ford should have made a car that competes with the Corvette or the 911 GTS. But instead they COMPLETELY ABANDON their life long customers. But nobody can accuse Ford of taking care of its customers lately. They gouged their Lightning customers and now their F150 prices are pushing $80,000 for a half ton pickup.
    Ford is just being idiotic . They have customers who desperately want to buy something with the blue oval for performance and their company instead builds cars for people who’ve never owned a Ford. No wonder their hurting

    The Mustang is the Poor Mans Sports Car, just like the 1971 240Z was the Poor Mans Ferrari GTO....
    Mustang Fits with the Aston Martin Vantage, Mercedes GT-RS AMG, Nissan GT-R Front Engine Rear Wheel 2+2..
    4 Years Ago the GT350 was in 3rd Place for the majority of Tracks behind the Porsche in 1st, or Ferrari depending on the Track, with Bentley in 2nd with Farrari... in 3rd Place was the GT350, and behind were 3 Mercedes GT-RS AMG.... the Lead 4th Place AMG would always knock out of Contention the 3rd Place Mustang... the GT350 won twice which I can remember.. though it was the Same Time Lewis Hamilton Mercedes doing the Same to Red Bull Max Verstappen... Plain and simple Mercedes can't admit to Losing to a Mustang that sell for 1/3 of the price without adding weight like Twin Turbos (everything Else ) GT350 was all Motor Naturally Aspirated Durability Ruled.. Also, winning with a Manual Transmission, not Sequential. 👨🏻🤘🏻🏎️🏁🚩🧗🏻 Hopefully you get your GTD. It will be $1 Million in 10 years
