She saw Bart doing well, found what motivated and saw that it was about a cat, then when she felt that she had to tell Bart his mistake she destroyed Bart’s motivation until someone else tries to cheer him up. Lisa had no reason to say anything, but she did because she couldn’t have anyone smarter than her. It happens multiple times even when Maggie is being looked at as smart.

Honestly i dislike Lisa a lot she’s just a selfish person who only about herself and will do anything to make herself feels better, she think shes a good person but really she only thinks about herself and doesn’t care about others. Whenever Bart do something good or doing smart things Lisa immediately ruins it so she can be the smart one in the family
Its consistent in her character to not want to keep up a lie. A lie of omission is still a lie. And she does keep it up for a while but eventually she feels guilty for not telling him about it sooner. But the truth is Bart has known this about Edna for awhile, she has stated it to other people about Bart before and in several of those cases Bart was nearby.

Because the creators of this show have really decided to go all in on making Lisa a hateable, hateful cow. And I say this as a woman. I really dislike how they've handled, well, ALL the main characters but her especially.
Ever heard of "Zero-Sum Thinking"? To someone like Lisa, it's not enough for herself to succeed, but for everyone else to fail.

She didn't tell the truth because she felt bad about lying she told the truth for purely selfish reasons. She's done stuff like this before, if one of her siblings is seen doing something good academically, or being praised for how smart they are, she has to find a way to knock them down a peg. Lisa truly only feels good about herself if she can look down upon others from her high horse. That's a big reason behind her veganism and her excelling in school. It's so she can have a sense of superiority over others. In her mind she can be the only smart Simpson child. Lisa is narcissistic and has a fragile ego.

Lisa went looking for the source of his success to ruin it, felt guilty on finding out the source of his motivation was a misunderstanding, in her guilt felt regret for wanting to sabotage him, but then placebo effect stress rash from her inner conflict over ruining his motivation or letting him be happy with his success and decides feeling superior to Bart is preferable to making herself suffer from hiding the truth because she can't let go of a fixation once she's decided to never stop thinking about it.

lisa has for 20 years sabotaged bart at literally every opportunity. bart has on no less than 12 different occasions, discovered a talent that hes been neglecting, and Lisa destroys it. One of them was a surgery he actually needed to have on his arm because without it, he wouldnt have the range of motion to play the drums in his new jazz career, and the family could afford to pay for it, but Lisa wanted to give that money to a charity to help animals on the other side of the planet, they could have paid for the surgery and given very little, but instead lisa really did demand that they give all the money and Bart seriously chose to too good for his own good and elected not to have the surgery so lisa could donate the money to charity, ruining his music career before it began.
It was Marge fault in this episode.
Marge kept guiltriping Bart.

I don’t think anyone in the comments actually watched the episode. This isn’t like that one episode of Family Guy where Stewie gets Brian fired from Home Depot just because he’s happy and a little full of himself, Lisa gets suspicious that Bart is cheating so she’s looking for cheat sheets that he hid away. It even says IN THE VIDEO that she doesn’t want Bart’s feelings to get hurt. It’s only when Bart is about to enter a spelling bee, something he could publicly fail and be made fun of for, that she tells him.
Lisa can absolutely be a brat in some episodes but I really don’t this this was one of those episodes.

It's crazy that Lisa has (most of the time) ruined Barts future.
Everytime he is slightly successful, Lisa can't stand it and becomes insecure and tries to top Bart or ruin him. Always jealousy and insecurity is what's ruining Lisa character. It just seems so mean and unloving acting like that towards her own brother. In another one of these episode, Lisa even tries to shut bart and his accomplishments on the dinner table. Bart talks about what he has achieved and Lisa instantly say something like "Shut up Bart. Hey guys, look what *I* have achieved!!" completely invalidating bart in one of *the* most selfish ways possible.
Over time, Bart was not only standing in Lisas shadow and had struggles being unique in his own way, Lisa even purposfully invalidated Bart, making it seem like non of his achiements could ever come close to Lisas, making him not only even more insecure, but cold and hateful towards his own family.
And what annoyes me the most is that adult Lisa, in said future episode, screams at Bart that he is fully responsible for how his life went and that she has no fault whatsover, even tho she herself treated her brother like non-existent shi* that is not worth talking about or worth talking to, making him hate her and his own family for never treating him with respect nor love

I think it's the third time Lisa took something good that guarantee Bart future, though not sure since I haven't keep up with the show since fox was bought by Disney. The other two times where one of them being that Bart succeeding in the band Lisa wanted to be in and Lisa adopted tiger cub just happened to bite him cause him unable to properly played instrument. The second time is Bart succeeding in playing a competitive team video game only for Lisa jealousy to get Homer away from the competition only for Homer to screw up because plot ruining their chances, while Bart gets all the blame.

Lisa threw a temper tantrum that the family use all the surgery money for stray animals across the world. She absolutely knew that Bart's chances for a successful life was limited, but she hated that he not only would find success, but likely be better at music than she is. Also, there was another time that she ran away because she contemplated murdering maggie due to her jealousy.
For once this is the least scummiest thing Lisa could have done, compared to other things she's done in the series this is the most rational thing she could of done.

Can't say I'm surprised by what Lisa did. I still remember one episode when everybody discovered that Maggie has the potential to be smarter than Lisa. It drove Lisa crazy to the point that she fantasized about killing her in the future.
I agree that Lisa has a superiority complex with Bart, but to be fair she only told the truth was because she wanted to stop Bart from humiliating himself (not saying she was right to do so).
More importantly the point of this episode was as a tribute to Miss Krabappel and Marcia Wallace. Why is nobody talking about that?

The main reason is.......THIS WASNT A LISA EPISODE. They easily couldve done a tribute to Marcia with Bart. This episode starts like that, and it could've easily been a great episode. Edna and Flanders where togheter for a period, in a really loving reletionship. They were even considering on marrying, unfortunatley Maria Wallace, Edna's voice actress, died; evreybody on the Simpson team loved her and didn't have the heart to search for another VA for Edna, so the character died too. There was also a commemoration episode for Maria Wallace, She was loved that much.

This episode was the tribute episode to her and her character. For awhile they had different guest stars playing a substitute teacher for the class. Flanders eventually becomes the new teacher but he gets fired for promoting religion in a public school. This is actually the second time he’s been fired from the school for the same reason, he was also the principal temporarily and got fired for saying a prayer over the intercom. Kerry Washington as now join the cast as Bart’s new teacher Ms. Peyton
