    Saffa here…amazing out of a long list of ridiculous ABs that this guy is easily the best 7 and decent shout at being the 🐐.

    Proud South African here. As much as I hated (in a sort of rivalry way - because he is obviously a great of the game) him, I loved watching the Boks trying to undo him and his All Blacks. It was as hard a challenge as you could find on a rugby field - I remember thinking to myself as a young man - how is it possible to be so good at the game that your opposition feels more priviledge than competition (not that we'd ever say no to the competition, especially against the best out there).
    Richie, from my humble seat as nothing other than a South African supporter, thank you for your contribution to the game, and the manner in which you did it makes me proud to be involved in this sport we love so much. People can say its just a game, but the magic that lies under it isn't. May the rivalry, and the friendships because of it, continue. Respect.
    That being said, I can't help but finish with: Go bokke! ;)

    I was at the Cardiff WC15 1/4 final v France and watched McCaw pre match knowing he was blitzed to pieces at the very scene 8 years earlier.
    He went from corner flag to corner flag, by himself, steel gaze, I could tell he was getting ready to break walls down and he would lead from the front.
    I also recall being in Chch around 2000 watching this very good looking country boy from Otago way galloping like a proper thoroughbred across the park, I kid you not, even then, he was holding his own and looking very, very assured.
    To conclude now that we are watching here at the greatest All Black ever is staggering. But, well and truly deserved.
    After a 25 year drought along comes RM to take a deserving nation to back2back world cups, first one and only one to possibly ever do it.
    Greatest AB ever, Richard McCaw.

      Wow, that's incredible the emotional journey we go through rooting for these men to represent us in such a sport. It's can be looked at as almost silly, but truly at its core inspiring. Richie Mccaw the greatest to ever do it.

    It’s been awesome to see our legends be around the team imparting their wisdom. When you build that level of leadership and knowledge of winning then use it. The Queensland State of Origin side does it brilliantly.

    As a Safrican didn’t think for a moment in 2015 we’d win that semi.
    Would’ve backed ourselves in 2011 but that is of course precisely why Bryce earned his Referee of the Year award in the QF.

    Praise be to our blessed McCaw. The only time he was wrong was when he thought he was mistaken. But seriously we've always had a sprinkling of greats in our teams, players that could change the course of a game. We haven't had any since McCaw's era and over the past couple of years its shown. I think it is possible without having rugby gods onboard, the game I would cite is the Ireland game at the last world cup. A group of ok to good players playing as a cohesive unit across the board and of course the first quarter of a more recent AB-SA game. It starts from the top and whether it's Fozzie or not they need laser focus centered on the next world cup, not this mediocre get through the next game mentality of the past few years.

    Mounga

    • @daggaboom
      @daggaboom 10 месяцев назад +2

      We’re not in a class of our own. Don’t be confusing a warm game vs ABs a man down as a sign. This World Cup has at least 4 that can win it and decent chance one of them will knock us out in the quarters. We make it through that and then decent chance we bring it home
