Instead of upgrading my camera, i bought top components around my existing camera a7c which is already solid in photo/video. My package is top and fits every scenario.
The Sony A7C II is a technology marvel. It does both video and photo very well and it is so responsive and fast when switching between these 2 modes. My go-to camera for both youtube and photography, and so easy to carry when travelling
I still love my a7c GEN1 its my real estate beast and perfect for taking with me to Disney with the family. I really do love the size. It tempts me to sell my a7siii and get the ZV-E1 because I like the small cameras for sure. Great video as always!
if i remember correctly, Sony on its help guide says Slog 3 preserves shadows but slog 2 is primed for highlights, not the other way. If u are over exposing without false colors and only zebra then best to expose at 55-60 zebra for ur subject which u will have to bring down in post to 41 for slog 3 and 34 for slog 2 and highlights clips at 94 for slog3 and 100 for slog2 .
Thanks for the video. I own both the A7CII and A7CR and use them as my travel cameras. I’m trying to keep my lenses in that kit small and light so I’ve added the 16-25/2.8 G and 24-50/2.8 G along with the 70-200/4 G II. I only shoot stills though. Still going back and forth on the 16-35/2.8 GM II since it’s really not that big, we will see. Take care.
For stills, do you prefer one over the other? I recently drowned my A7CR and am now weighing up whether to get an A7CII or wait longer to save up money for a CR again, I only do stills and landscape at that. Any advice would be appreciated.
@ Admit the A7CR is great for landscape but for general stills the A7CII is still a fantastic camera. I’ve seen some great pricing on both a used A7CR and A7CII, have you considered buying a mint used body? I bought my A7CII as an open-box version from B&H. Zero regrets so far. Take care.
Great informative video, congrats. I have a question: how would you compare in a nutshell with the new Lumix S9? are these comparable in any aspect ? I think the S9 shines more on the video side? Let me know your thoughts...or maybe can do a comparison review.
Yup great little camera - fast too! I use my Tamron 17-50mm f4 a lot with it. Got a nice Smallrig cage to extend the grip. 10 bit 4.2.2 is great! It did overheat on me in a very hot church loft once but still recorded video for 1hr10minutes📸
@@SidneyDiongzonMakes all the difference to add a bigger lens and not be too front heavy. Doesn’t add bulk or much weight either. I don’t like the Sony extended grip solution
What sling bag are you using? I didn't see it linked in the description. Great video. I've been thinking about moving from Fujifilm to Sony for more advanced work using a FF (still keeping my XT3 for casual use) and deciding between the A7IV, A7CII, A7CR, and A7RV. I want the new autofocus, IBIS, so I've been considering the newer models more. I've been concerned about the 61MP sensor, especially for storage/workflow, so thank you for thoughts on that; and most work I do is in clubs/bars so lower MP sensor would be better for low light. The majority of time I use it for travel, street, friends/family. What do you think about the mechanical shutter only going up to 1/4000? A bit concerned about that for travel and street photography during the day.
I’ve had both. Recently sold the zve1 for the a7cii. For video the zve1 is better. But the lack of evf was soooo annoying. A7cii like mentioned in this video is the perfect do it all camera. Image quality is beautiful.
You are right about the dynamic range. It’s noticeably weaker than the A74 too which is strange considering that they share the same sensor. I own both and tested them head to head over a few months in various conditions. The A74 is always better in the shadows and highlights. Kudos for a top video man 👌🏼
I thought I was going crazy nobody was mentioning this, I have both too and I don’t do video but I felt like specially at high isos the A7iv performs better for some reason…when it comes to dynamic range, I’ve seen another video where they were doing videos and saying they’re exactly the same at night and you could see the A7iv was clearly better at high ISO for some reason…one thing though I nail the auto focus way more on the A7cii I rarely get a blurred face, and at night I feel like the stabilizer makes it easier to take long exposure hand held shots sharp
@@ruialex314Yeah true. The A7cii is a step up from the A74 in many ways which you’ll only really notice if you use the camera over time. And as Sid says, the form factor is awesome.
I don't understand the "not overexposing by 2 stops" comment in comparison to the A7SIII. Isn't the A7CII supposed to have the same sensor as the A7IV and isn't the A7IV supposed to have better dynamic range than the A7SIII (though FPS and much more rolling shutter cripple it)? I generally shoot A7SIII at +1
Perfect timing :D I'm just selling my a7s3 because I don't film professionally that much anymore and I'm wondering what to buy instead. I was hesitating between zv-e1 and a7cii and I already have the answer ;) Do you think the 16-35 f4 pz lens will be ok? It is intended to be used as a universal wide-zoom mainly for vlogging + sometimes some photos. I care about the size, because so far I've always used several lenses. Alternatively, I'm thinking about buying the 16-35 f2.8 gmii and simply having one great lens for years, a bit large, but basically serving forever.
Love my a7cii. The only real thing i want from it is a faster readout sensor (and maybe as you mentioned, dynamic range). Would love if they made a a7cS. Btw ive never forgotten my SD card since someone told me they leave the door open if they remove the card.
A7CII doesn't go over 1/4000 you have to use the electric shutter if you want to go faster. On bright conditions you will have to close the aperture and lose some bokeh
@@Elimporta2 Not really. The A7CII has no mechanical shutter. Look it up online. That's a big no-no for photography in my opinion, especially when the rolling shutter performance ain't great!
