    Nothing in this video was over dramatized to make it seem more interesting. If anything i left details out because I went through so much crap with them this evening. What a joke this company has become.

      I feel you man, I've been on hold for like half an hour before and have been disconnected, not from Dell but from my mobile network provider. I also Googled Dell's customer service just now and it seems there are plenty of people who have had problems with the customer service at Dell. I work in a call centre myself and believe me man, the person on the other end of the phone was probably just lazy and clearly were not doing there job properly.
      They work in Dell customer service, they should have been able to help you more. My boss would flip his shit if I didn't help out a customer the best I could.

      PlatinumChaos X Wow, so Dell has shit customer service. I'd rather buy a gaming pc from HP than Dell after hearing this. I've had Dell Computers and hadn't any problems with them. I'm pissed off after hearing this news. Hell they're just as bad as Comcast.

    News Flash: Dell has always been a shit company, and always will. I remember in highschool when everyone was like "omg we should get gaming computers, let's get Alienware", and I'm like "oh that sounds like a cool name" and then I saw it was made by Dell, and I was like NO FUCKING WAY AM I BUYING A DELL, and ended up going with iBuyPower which is a company that builds computers for you. I saved about a grand.

      You must not be very old then. Alienware wasn't even acquired by Dell until somewhere around 2005-2007. But buying a pre-built from any company will *always* cost you more. Remember, A company *has* to make profit, iBuyPower isn't building it for you, they're making a profit off of you. You'll always save money building yourself, The only exceptions are laptops.
      Edit: Forgot to mention, I've heard equally bad stories as Rich just described surrounding both iBuyPower and CyberPowerPC. You can find quite a few from consumers on yelp and Tom's Hardware. Also looked up the date of the Alienware purchase, It was in 2006.

      ***** I was about to say the same thing when I was growing up I always wanted an Alienware then Dell bought them, but I will say GamingTaylor if you want a pre built computer in the future Origin is a great company.

    • @GamingTaylor
      @GamingTaylor 9 лет назад +20

      I know how to build computers now, and I know companies mark up their services, but not nearly as much as Dell does. Also, it's incredibly difficult for a kid to build their own computer without having someone teach them the process. With youtube videos, you are likely to screw something up, get frustrated, and end up wasting a lot of money taking it to Geeksquad to assemble it for hundreds of dollars.
      Btw guys, build your own car, build your own house, and build your own appliances. You will save a fortune. (no duh, dipshit)

    No individual consumer should ever deal directly with Dell. If you want to buy a Dell product, buy it through a 3rd party vendor like Walmart, or Amazon. The problem with Dell is that they have become the big fat lazy government contract blob that receives endless automatic business from countless large institutions like public universities and government offices. They have no reason to provide quality customer service to anyone, so basically they don't.
    They do make some decent computers though.

      But even big guys are buying elsewhere, even from HP, yes HP!.
      And no, they don't make (at least for notebook) decent notebook. Excluding the Alienware (that are a bit ugly, imho), the rest of the notebook are more-of-the-same but with a hefty price tag (yes, DELL is expensive, what are they thinking?)

      My college had nothing but Dells. I remember one day many trucks coming & hauling them all off. Recalled, broken, or finally got the budget to get all new computers....I never found out.
      But on the subject of awful customer service, it's hard to top Comcast/Xfinity. "Oh, you need your DVR fixed? Well, we'll just bork your internet connection after we fix it. Oh, you want to drop HBO? Well, we'll just assume that you also want an internet downgrade as well. Why do we keep making the software for On Demand worse & worse? Why does fast forward & rewind have a timed delay? Uhh...Call back after my lunch break."

      +Jill Sandwich trust me, as a dell customer I can certify that there is no worse customer service in existence. I made the mistake of buying an alienware m18x. great laptop... but it showed up in a broken, mis-configured state and I had to fix everything myself in the end because dell is completely incompetent. to give you an idea of how much of a nightmare it was it took three weeks, NOT days, WEEKS to get it functional and stable. And I'm by no means computer illiterate, I'm a programmer who needs mobility and a high end laptop to test games and compile the code on the go. even though it was slightly less powerful I still regret not buying from Toshiba quesmio line of computers. the extra 16 GB of ram wasn't worth my trouble. here's a list of problems my alienware showed up with:
      cracked case near hinge (still unfixed)
      wrong bios installed (constant bsod, eventually gave up on dell and called Microsoft. they found the correct bios for me. the direct download link dell kept giving me was apparently for the wrong one. and dell never identified this problem, they just kept having me reinstall the bios, drivers, and proprietary software over and over to try to fix the constant 11GB or ram use with just antivirus and the default configuration running)
      high ram use(sorta fixed, Microsoft had me uninstall most of dells proprietary garbage installed with the machine, after being unable to figure this out and being unwilling to go through task manager I did a "clean" install of windows 10. it no idles at 5GB witch is still ridiculously high, but I figure it's more trouble than its worth to mess with at this point.)
      alienware command center won't reinstall after upgrade to windows 10(Microsoft fixed this, not dell. again dell gave me a link to command center that installed on my pc, but didn't work and made it unstable.)
      wifi adapter keeps failing(fixed by MS with bios)
      I spent three weeks fixing these simple issues, primarily because it never occurred to me that dell was so incompetent as to send me the wrong links to the bios/drivers MULTIPLE TIMES to the EXACT SAME LINKS. I stupidly assumed that when I gave them my model number and service code so they can search my exact laptop, they know what type of laptop I have. nope. apparently for a long time they assumed I had an aroura desktop. Then the proceeded to mix up my laptop with other versions of a similar laptop with similar(but slightly different) designation that is what I used for 2.5 weeks until microsoft fixed that. through all of this I called them every day 3-4 times a day spending 15-50 minutes on hold each time and times got longer the more this went on leading me to believe they may have marked me as a problem customer in their system, or there system is VERY broken. I would also be routinely transferred to departments that weren't open the same time as others, and often the call would drop. I also discovered that they love to send you in circles in their department system. I wound up working with the same guy a lot who kept giving me different understandable names(with his service i see why) which sounded a little different every time, but I quickly learned to recognize his thick accent and voice. He didn't speak English very well either, I don't mind talking to people with accents, IF they are at least proficient at least at an elementary school level. he wasn't. this is excluding all the mess of ordering the product, if you are really curious ask, and I will be glad to tell you. and you know what the real kicker is. in the end they deemed all the issues( INCLUDING THE BROKEN HINGE) to be SOFTWARE issues and told me I would have to pay $500 for support to fix my computer which SHOWED UP BROKEN. and I won't bother talking about the overclocking issues either as that's a story of it's own, unlees someone is curious.
      I can safely say I will NEVER buy from dell again. Toshiba if you are reading this, I'm sorry I didn't buy your quesmio, youv'e ALWAYS treated me well and I really wish I had just stuck with the company that I had been with. my advice isn't neccessarilly to buy a toshiba, but NEVER buy a dell unless you really NEED to. and don't count on ANY, and I mean ANY support.

  • @ixiahj

    Hey buddy. I feel for ya. I can actually interpret what happened behind the scenes as I've worked as customer service and tech support for phone and chat for years.
    You were put on hold for 15 minutes because the dude you talked to got an error after trying to process your order. Not really his fault, though. Companies provide centers with really shitty information systems and order processing systems that return vague false positives more often than they should. The guy was probably asking his supervisor how to fix it because he knows your order should have been validated but for some reason the system wasn't validating it and there was nothing he could do.
    Ex: A guy once ordered 2 laptops from me over the phone. I processed them fine. 1 laptop makes it but the other was held due to suspected fraud because of "identical shipping address or driver's license" or whatever. The system shouldn't be doing shit like that.
    I know that he should have told you the truth but we are usually advised by our supervisors to be "discrete" when disclosing info like these because at the end of the call, there's gonna be a fucking survey that asks the customer how their experience was. Of course it wasn't the best experience so whatever the customer puts in there will reflect on the consultant's and the center's score sheet.
    Based on your story, there was no need to transfer you to any other department. The guy you talked to only did that to AVOID the survey. I admittedly am guilty for doing this every now and then by transferring people to what we call "limbo ques" where the customer will just wait there forever and nobody will ever get to them. Trust me when I say I hate doing that but there are just customer problems that should not have been problems in the first place and we're expected to fix them and please everyone in the world 100% of the time. Its a job where you're encouraged to be sneaky and disingenuous the whole time just so you can produce the required passing numbers by the end of the month. Same old same old in any industry, I guess.
    Again, sorry for that inconvenience.

    • @MeldinX2
      @MeldinX2 8 лет назад +7

      Well then. If the experience was shitty for the customer then you deserve to get a bad survey instead of losing the customer forever because of throwing him in Limbo and wasting his time.
      I mean it's not the customers fault that Dells systems is not working and fucks up his order. And the customer can't fix this himself and NEED help from customers service. Most people would understand if the guy in customer service just told him the truth. Instead of shoveing him around and having him call his bank and all this shit. Wasting the customers time and just making the customer more angry.

    • @ixiahj
      @ixiahj 8 лет назад +18

      MeldinX2 You're right, its not the customer's fault, its Dell's fault. As a professional customer service rep. I believe telling the truth is always excellent customer service. However, customers who think they're "entitled" believe excellent customer service is "kissing their ass." If I tell them the truth and say there's nothing I can do because the system is broken or locked up, they will still survey it as a bad experience regardless whether they understood my explanation or not.They're certainly not gonna be happy and Dell will still lose a customer regardless. So basically, its a matter of cutting my loses by taking advantage of the corporate system. Its Dell's fault and its their system. I'm not gonna bite the bullet for the company's short comings. They wouldn't do the same for me. I'm just a number in their excel spread sheet.
      Make no mistake, if its something I can fix, I'll stay with my customer even if it takes my whole shift. As long as its under my control. But if its something that makes me explain "Hey, I just drive the car. I didn't invent the internal combustion engine," then I'm gonna cover my ass and control what I CAN control which is the trunk line.

    • @MeldinX2
      @MeldinX2 8 лет назад +2

      ixiahj Yeah it's not usually the support guys fault. Well it is a bit if you are the one that chooses to be shady to save your own ass and making the customer waste his/her time instead of being honest and take the bad review that you may get. But it's not your fault that the system dell made is shit. It's Dells fault and they will lose customers because of their shitty customer service system.
      Still if the service guy told me the truth then i would acually give him/her a plus on the survey since the truth was helpful. But if he/she would disconnect my calls and making me waste 40-60 extra minutes of my life then i would get super pissed. And this is what loses customers forever. No-one likes to be lied to when you just want some help and answers.

    • @ixiahj
      @ixiahj 8 лет назад +8

      MeldinX2
      There's nothing shady about it. The system puts me in a position where I will be blamed for something I did not do wrong. Why would I take the blame for something that is not my fault.
      I have worked as tech support and customer service over the phone for 5 years. I have lost many hard working colleges who have families to support, fired by our clients simply because some customers demanded they be fired as said representatives could not do what the customer want.
      Did our client or company bite the bullet for us? Did they defend us from the customer while we were only "telling the truth?" Nope. They're more likely to fire us and replace us with more people like burnt out light bulbs. Did they fix the information system we use everyday? Nope. It would cost money to fix said systems. Its not a perfect world so you adapt to survive.
      Also, the survey isn't gonna ask "How would you rate the representative." Its most likely gonna ask "How would you rate Dell." If you order a computer from Dell and they said they can't process your order because their system is registering your credit card is suspected of being fraudulent (even though you know its not because you just used it on something else yesterday) would you still rate that Dell experience as a 10 instead of a 0?

      ReviewTechUSA No you truly are not the only one, when a company like DELL wants a $100 for a replacement for a funky laptop system fan, then you know they are fucked in the head. The only reason they are as big as they are now, is because of their slick commercials in the 90's, and the fact they gave governments, school systems, and corporate buyers large discounts on system purchases, not because of quality service, and quality products that's for damn sure!

    My mom recently had a problem with her 5GB of cloud storage linked to her smartphone filled up, and she couldn’t free up the space. She went through several different people over the phone, all of whom offered nothing but to sell her more cloud storage, until eventually my dad asked her if she had emptied the trash bin-and that turned out to be the problem. So not only were the customer service people trying to sell her crap she didn’t need, but they _withheld_ the extremely easy (and free) solution to her cloud being full! Or ASUS Power4Gear which "automatically adjusts fan speeds for quiet computing and prolonged battery life." Around 2003-2005 my aunt bought a Dell. She was told she needed a bunch of 'extra' software for her laptop that she never ended up using, and in turn a several hundred dollar computer turned into a $2000 piece of shit. If that wasn't enough to even consider it crap, the anti virus software she was told she *must* use didn't help either. And infact rejected my offer of installing a better one at one point. And yes, she was largely technology illiterate at the time. Since then she has vastly improved (still not to what a lot of us consider a normal level of interest, but decent enough to be capable of using the machine fine) and will usually ask me about technology related things if it involves buying something. She doesn't want to deal with being scammed again. Shame on Dell for conducting such a practice, at the time, and shame on them again as your video is apparently a drop in the bucket for their 1 star customer service!
    A while after me and my uncle vouched for her next computer to be a Mac. The end result? She got a Macbook Pro and you can bet she's much happier using it than the Dell laptop. No bloatware either. And for a 3-4 year old computer it's still very responsive. Far more responsive than even my Macbook Pro and I have had mine almost as long.

      Also they charge you an arm and a leg more than it would cost to build it yourself. I looked at Alienware in the past before I knew how to build my own, after learning how and pricing it out I realized they charge around 400+ more because its "Alienware". Its the same reason you pay so much for BMW or Mercedes, you can get just as nice a car from Ford or GM for a third of the cost. In the end your mostly paying for that name on it and their branding.

Called them three times, called over 1 technician, we fought back and forth, he argued that I was never receiving 5Mb in my area, that I always recieved 0.6 (Even though I used speedtest and was able to watch vids in 1080p) . You all pretty much admitted that this was a rage video, a way to get back at them...ok...why is this video pointless??? Because it's an extreme way to voice an opinion...he's has some infuence, he's got more than 250k people watching him and he says something like "never again" and all kinds of shit just cause he got bad service ONCE! Also we don't know any of the details...what kind of numbers he was dialing and where, what kind of problem did Dell have with his bank...YOU DON'T KNOW...it's one opinion and yet it sounds like a condemning one...so yeah i think it's a pointless video, his words have no leverage cause it's out of spite, especially when i found Dell's service the best one out there, i have bought a LOT of laptops and i know...WAY better than Toshiba, Sony, Acer, HP(lol they were a joke) even Lenovo (even though they seemed they were trying)...

THAT's why i think these kind of videos are pointless...IT'S MORE THAN HIS OPINION...People's perception is different! Mine was an opinion. I just said it and left, "+1 for Dell" people think...His is like a fucking campaign, like breaking news...people think "he got bad service and made a video??? Oh dear lord Dell must be horrible, a devil, NEVER AGAIN!".........and it wasn't that horrible! he waited for too long??? Saying you had "the best" experience with Dell doesn't say anything. The best of what? The best of the best? the best of the worst? At least Rich explained his situation. From what I've seen its not just him who has had issues with Dell either. You can see that in this very comment section.

      It's true. When he said the worst service humanly possible, i thought maybe a rep insulted him verbally over the phone. Yeah, it sucks that they couldn't get to him over the phone. And yes, having the online chat being virtually useless is also bad. But really there's a lot of factors that cause Dell to act this way, and it's somewhat out of there hands.
      1. It's the holiday season, so much tech is bought and sold.
      2. Dell is a pretty big name that has a vast history, so the amount of people who go to them naturally because they know and see the name a lot these days is probably huge.
      3. When there's a name as big as theirs, people who are more tech illiterate will flock to them which means more people they have to handle. I have yet to see a computer at a school i've been to that isn't a Dell. (excluding laptops people bring themselves)
      4. Imagine how many people who are tech-illiterate are trying to call them now during the holiday season to complain or ask something silly about their new product they received or bought recently. Those types of calls take a long time because of explanations and a tech-illiterates inability to understand and explain what is going on on their end.
      5. To some extent, Dell has probably had to drop standards a bit on people who can be really helpful over calls or text chat to keep up with the amount of calls they receive.
      It sucks, but its what comes with the territory.

    • @Shadowh8ter
      @Shadowh8ter 9 лет назад

      No, he acted appropriately to the situation. What do you mean it's just a couple of hours? You think that everyone should accept the fact that they may have to wait a few hours (Not everyone, not even the majority of customers will have that much spare time to just watch paint dry while they wait)? NO, they shouldn't! Especially when plenty of other places like newegg tend to handle their situations much more efficiently, and at a much higher rate.
      People shouldn't react lightly to poor customer service, or even worse, none existent customer service.

    I was horrified by Dells support. I have an Alienware laptop and the ac adapter for it is shit. I have had 4 of these things in the past and they always break in the same place. So after the second time I bought a warranty that covers everything for my computer except the battery. After the adapter broke again for the 4th time, I called them up to have them send me another one. I wait a few minutes and the guy tells me they will not since they believe I am taking advantage of the warranty. They thought I was trying to get free ac adapters from them. Why would anyone take advantage of the system for a stupid battery charger? Even when talking to this guys manager they constantly accused me of this and said they wont send me one. And after yelling at them and threating to talk to the managers manager, the manager said he would send me a new adapter saying he was giving me the benefit of the doubt. I hate dell support

    • @SpookieShade
      @SpookieShade 9 лет назад

      the problem is the part that keeps breaking is held together with flimsy glue and breaks under the slightest amount of stress. I mean the slightest bend will break the seal. After that happens the wires are exposed then they get frayed and start sparking or just short out completely.

    A similar thing happened to me with HP. I was buying a laptop and my order was confirmed and money was taken out of my bank account. I figured the computer would arrive at my doorstep in about a week or so. Well, I waited for about a month and the computer never came. I called HP to find out that they never sent my laptop after taking my money. So I contacted my bank to see if they can get back my money from HP. I did get my money back. And my banks method to getting my money back was that they threatened HP with a lawsuit. I kinda wished I didn't get my money back so I can see HP get squashed in the 1st person in court.

    I had a similar experience with Dell. I bought the i7559 and there was screen bleed, faulty touchpad and the lid didn't close properly. I called them the day after I received the laptop and they tried to force me to do toubleshooting which was pointless so I just said I want a refund. After being handed around for over a month and emailed them countless times at different addresses, they only replied when I said I was going to take further action if they don't treat my matter urgently, I got a phone call ~30 minutes later! Then they said they were going to pick it up on a specific day and they didn't come, so I had to call them AGAIN! Then the refund took far too long to 'process'. Never again!

  • @Maurice333
    @Maurice333 8 лет назад +4

    In defence of customer service companies and what you have gone through - the bigger the company, the worse their CS. I wouldn't be surprised if Dell's CS has been outsourced, which of course means that the company is being represented by a third party (could be in-house, not sure) where the conditions are bad (not terrible, just un-organized) and turnover is high. It leads to incompetence and people being paid below what they are worth in order to provide the products you want and an affordable price (it isn't only the guys putting the products together in China who are being exploited). Even though you didn't explicitly attack the agents themselves I just want to point out that yes, Dell is at fault. They decide what kinds of T&C their agents have to follow and of course are responsible for not reacting to feedback. What you have is the voice of the company being the people at the bottom rung of the ladder who have direct access to customer complaints, who cannot reach the decision makers, who in turn just don't give a fuck as long as they turn a profit. BTW, keep up the good work!

What's the motivation for companies to offer good customer service when there are no good alternatives? Telcos and ISPs are a great example.

    As someone who worked around the IT world for a while, this is far from a shock. The only time I have a client use a dell product is if it's a cheap monitor, and some literal throw away pc/laptop/tablet/etc.
    Being disconnected from their phone service is a super common thing. Even more so when you know your stuff and worked as a IT consultant for a company of 1000+ systems.
    BTW, it's gotten to the point where most people won't fix a dell computer if it takes more than a good 10 minutes. It's just easier AND CHEAPER to just buy the client something else.

    That aside Dell has either given a quality product like my desktop or POS like my laptop. I've been dealing with them for 12yrs now personally and honestly I do have to give them my thanks for one thing. If not for their horrid, deplorable customer service I would've never pushed myself to learn how to fix computers. Now it doesn't matter what brand of PC I buy, I've taught myself to fix damn near any fucking problem thanks to their incompetence as a company.

    1) My U2711 monitor was replaced in ONE DAY by Dell. It included a pre-paid waybill so I paid nothing.
    2) My phone experience with customer experience was quick and satisfying with another product.
    3) Watched this video and frankly not sure what to think. If it hadn't been for the time spent on hold it doesn't sound so horrible and his problem was sorted out.

    For someone who has worked in a Customer Service Rep position before, I can defend that companies like this don't really care about their customers and even us. They just gives us scripts and everything you say is monitored and micromanaged. And for Voice and Non-Voice they expect us to handle MULTIPLE CLIENTS AT THE SAME TIME. I mean I fucking remember that they expected me to help a client on the phone and as well to chat with 5 other people. I'm serious guys, don't take it on us employees, blame the company and their shitty policies for their customers and employees.

    I had purchased an Alienware M17x R4 two years ago, and wanted to upgrade my screen two months after. I priced the screen (as I worked in comp repair business) at 150$ for a decent IPS display at 1080p, Dell priced it at $850 for a new screen... This price is ridiculous. The total price of for the laptop was $1,200.

    I recently purchased a Dell monitor, and had an issue with setup (the stand wouldn't attach properly). So I called them and spent the next 2 hours on my most frustrating customer service calls ever (plural because I was also disconnected once myself). Finally they transferred me to customer care to have a replacement organized, but they did so 2 minutes after 5pm close time on friday, and customer care only reopens on the following monday. I immediately opened a web chat on Amazon (where I purchased the monitor from), and they organized a replacement without any question. Got the replacement 2 business days later. And now Dell is on my boycott list.

    I had a nightmare trying to buy this desktop that I bought 2 years ago.
    Their chat support was total BS and they told me the same thing about having to call this number, being on hold for 30+ minutes, getting disconnects, getting tossed around to different departments, etc.
    I ultimately was able to get someone from the US.
    Apparently, the problem is that a lot of times if you call later in the day, you're more likely to get connected to some call center in India hence the crappy quality connection and most of the time, them not really understanding what your issue or question is since they're reading off of a script. Call them in the morning like 9 AM and if you get lucky, you'll get connected from someone in the US that can actually pick up the call within a few minutes and actually solve your issues. Maybe you'll get lucky and get a discount off of the computer and some freebies.

    Oh wow. That is like talking to a cable company.
    I live in Germany and Dell's support here is, hands down, outstanding.
    Back in 2011 I had a netbook from them and I dropt it from like 6 feet. The hard drive broke. I was a new customer to them back then and I didn't get any extra warranty or service plans or anything with it. I didn't even buy it from them directly. I called them, had to wait on the phone line for like 5 minutes, explained them my entire situation and on the next day a service guy from Dell came and not only delivered me a new Hard Drive, but also installed it for me directly.
    Ever since then every computer I buy is a Dell and the support always was very satisfying.
    Maybe one reason for that is that the customer support center for Germany is based directly in Germany with Dell exmployees that know the company.
    For the US and other english-speaking countries they sourced all that out to India.

    Hey man, I am a DELL Employee, sorry to say this but I agree with you 100%... one of the reasons is that DELL is Leveraging all their services like trying to have one CS rep work on several accounts at the same time, among many other issues that we are seeing internally this is by far the most noticeable because it affects the consumer, and must say In My Personal opinion ever since Allien-ware was bought by DELL the quality has never been the same.

    If you lived in Europe, and you wanted to cancel an order or return a product, or faced any difficulty whatsoever, you just go like: In this interaction, I am willing to use my full rights as a European consumer, as stated in the 2014 European Initiative... Most times, they won't let me finish this sentence before they shut up and do as I say! They know that it only takes 3 clicks to report them for not respecting consumer rights, and that getting rid of cases costs an astronomical amount of money... Maybe the US has a similar thing, learn how to use it!

    So I bought a Dell Inspiron laptop about 2 and a half years ago for college. It's a great laptop, with a few software driver flaws. A few months after I bought it, I tried to put Windows 8 preview on it and screwed up an Intel Rapid Storage Driver that controlled the small SSD cache and Hard Drive array going on, so the laptop would fail to boot. I called Dell, who initially wanted to charge me $20 or so for a recovery disk, eventually sent me a flash drive with Windows on it. I didn't have this many customer service issues, and yeah I was pretty upset that a $1000 laptop just stopped working when I had homework to do on it. But after about a week or so, I got the flash drive, and a dell representative helped me fix my laptop. Not sure if they've gone downhill that much or you just have terrible luck again.

    Few years ago I ordered a dell computer with 128GB of RAM, two dual xeons, 2 gpu-s, 3 tb storage, 2x 27" monitors, etc. around $10.000. First evening I got BSOD. hahaha, a freaking BSOD on a machine which should be a beast. Didn't read even 1/4 of RAM, screen was flickering for some reason, all in all, catastrophy. Since I'm in europe, I had to send it back to get a new one. I got same computer in configuration, same problems (maybe they even send me original computer). Company which was buying it for me send it back and requested money back. That saga lasted around 4-5 months. Then I bought mac pro, and thankfully everything was fine since. Dell, never, ever again ;)

    I can vouch for this video having experienced the same lousy experience this past week (12/14/2015) with Dell customer support. It took four days of call backs, probably 10 hours of hold time, talking (and yelling at some point) to about twenty representatives from different departments. finally resolved product order on the fourth day. I was hopeful that the product (XPS 12 2015) was worth the frustration and aggravation but after seeing a recent video about the same product, I have doubts. Dell's customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. seems like the system should have been fixed a long time ago but have not. I will continue to spread the word to all IT departments I know.

    I can relate to your story before my alienware warranty ran out motherboard stopped working. I called them 4 times each minimum 30 minute que since calling from Canada and in the end even if you press the right options numbers in the menu they transfer you and tell you this isn't the right department after 3-4 transfers they hang up on you. Online support is a joke and paying for warranty doesn't mean you wont be on the line over 1 hour trying to explain to someone what is wrong with your computer without them just sending you the part that needs replacement. They try their best not to help or delay the process for the user to the max. Maybe they are looking for one time customers.

    Dell has really took it up a notch. I bought a Dell Inspiron 15 7537, and I was contacting them every week, asking them different questions like "is this computer good", "what is is good for?" and all those stuff. They answered all those questions honestly, without thinking about the sales of their products. It was an pretty good experience. Idk how it was in 2004, but Im sure they would've took action, because otherwise, they would be bankrupt right now. Idk how the phone calls are, but remember there are other people in the world who seek assistance. Waiting could take time. Snapping your fingers wouln't magically get rid of all people on the hold list. I'm sure the same problem is with all other companies. They have buisness, other priorities

    Nothing has changed there since 2009 then I guess. I was in the same shit from them in 2009 and I would never ever buy another Dell PC. I hate poor customer service and it really boils my piss when I am in a coffee shop or a store and the staff talk to each other when they are serving you and ignore you at the same time. I have walked out of a shop numerous times and left the goods at the checkout unpaid for because of their rudeness. I have a Fujitsu Siemens desktop and I have always have a great customer service from them. Quick and informative live chat, easy customer service, followed swiftly by my bank being a bit dumb, but that's about it. NOTHING compared to this.

    So I checked the phone help opening times on the Dell NZ website , which stated open at 08:00. Rang at 08:30 and got the message that "this service is not available until 8 am.....Sydney Time. Wait 2.5 hours, get another Indian (very hard to understand on phones) and still got no help, however he would be happy to take my order "NOW".
    All I wanted to know was the difference's between the warranties as it wasn't specific on the website.
    So the end of the story is I'm very happy with my new MSI
