  • Join me as we build a brand new custom 250 gallon fish tank. This video will show you how we built this tank including lighting, sump, a custom tank, construction materials, RO unit, automatic top off and more. We will go through the entire build process with pictures and videos, so that you can build your own.
    Share this journey with me. Let me know what corals and fish you want to see in the tank as we grow. I will try and do monthly updates so you can see the growth of the coral and new livestock we get.

    If you don't have any conches, get yourself some conches. Adorable sand cleaners.

    Awesome breakdown of what you did. Fish id definitely get some more tang gang (white tail bristletooth are my favorite as they are work horses on algae and pretty but can cost a lot). Id defiantly get a few halichoeres wrasses for pest control and the rest get what you enjoy. See some torches in there but would be cool to get some sps once the tank matures a bit.

      I was at reef-a-palooza and got some SPS that died almost right away. It was worth getting the frags since they were cheap. Im going to wait a little while to try again so theres more calcium to go around. Im going to look into those fish!

    Great set up! Is there a cover over that because I would be concerned about the loose drywall falling down into the tank

    • @JasonAron
      @JasonAron  Год назад

      Theres no loose drywall up there. whatever holes are in the drywall above the tank are for venting. the cover made of mesh is so fish dont jump out!

    Omg bro TY THIS IS AMAZING SETUO FOR RO WATER I love it damn mind blowing now. but you lose me at the dosing that’s why I’m typically scared of salt water.

    • @JasonAron
      @JasonAron  Год назад

      Im only dosing three chemicals. While finding the right amounts is a bit of science is pretty easy with a dosing pump

  • @zachniedfeldt

    That's a lot of bare/unfinished wood very close to the water. I feel that the framing of the cabinets - especially near the top, will warp in short order.
    How do you plan to do water changes? Is there a drain nearby? 100gallons of top off is good but where are you mixing salt?

    • @JasonAron
      @JasonAron  Год назад +1

      For the cabinets and the top the framing is actually away from the tank and theres good ventilation up there so there isn't any humidity. long term if theres an issue i can always treat the wood. None of it is actually attached to the tank. There is a bathroom nearby as well as the back door where we've run freshwater to when necessary. We put a pump in the bin and mix salt right in the bin. Before it goes in the tank we verify the salinity.

    love your tank and your equipment but with the cash you spent on all your renos and the equipment I think you are going to find that the whole thing wasn't thought out and over time you are going to run into some big issues
    I hope I'm wrong and I really hope you enjoy your beautiful reef for a long time

    • @JasonAron
      @JasonAron  Год назад

      The renovations were being done anyway. So if I didnt do the tank, the walls wouldve been done the exact same way. What issues are you thinking about? Would love to get ahead of it.
