- I recorded this glorious aria when I was still at college even though it's not how I would interpret it now, I love reflecting on these old recordings.
Dido's final aria from Purcell's Dido and Aeneas.
Performed by Esme Bronwen-Smith, mezzo-soprano, and Dylan Perez, piano.
Filmed by Alisdair Kitchen.
I really like the vibrato in the lower parts of her voice, and the little breathless sounds she incorporated.
Beautiful. The singing was fantastic too. I love the line "remember me, forget my fate" - somehow so comforting in a time of loss.
Absolutely phenomenal. You've left me speechless.
Breathtaking. Thank you for sharing!
Great feeling on this version. Good job.
I'd be curious what your new interpretation would be, I already admire this version.
We change as we get older. Better is subjective. Different, yes. Sometimes more polish detracts from a cruder iteration. I really enjoyed you singing this. Thank you.
Спасибо. Хотелось, чтобы это пение не заканчивалось.
right - i,ve heard all your postings and my favourite is still handel's "dove sei" - and you have a splendid range of pieces - great stuff! - martin.
You are singing beautifully. This is one of my favourite music piece. Piano accompaniment played as well fenomenal 🖤
Gorgeous.
One of the most beautiful performances I’ve heard. Brava!
Wow didn't know Venus could sing too
I Felt that emotional ending.. there are some songs that i can't finish without crying too..
WHY HAVEN'T WE HEARD MORE OF THIS EXTREMELY TALENTED YOUNG LADY. REMINDS ME OF SCHWARZKOPS SUBLIME SINGING.
So beautiful
Beautifully sung.
Merveilleuse!
Magnifique ! Bravo ! Quelle belle sensibilité. C'est la meilleure version que j'ai entendu.
listen to Janet baker please
I like this performance very much.
Words and a heart come enough.
I appreciate your splendid singing from Japan.
Excellent singing, Esme! Your voice is very beautiful.
una de las mejores que he oido!
Bravo! I wonder were you trained in England.
Salut, j'ecrıs comme une Mml quı a 50ans... Ma mere aussı elle etaıt chantee le meme arıa... J'aı bıen aımee votre voıx... A bıentoot...
Oui. Visionnez toutefois la video et la prestation de janet baker qui est, selon moi, sublime." Dido's lament" . Annees 60 je suppose.
beutiful
Lovely squillo. Thank you for sharing this. I can only imagine your voice will grow even more lustrous with time.
Proto Jazz!
Lose 90% of the vibrato and you will really have something. Beautiful tone, excellent acting.
Really well rendered, thank you!
my seventeenth . . .
When I am laid, am laid in earth, may my wrongs create
No trouble, no trouble in, in thy breast
When I am laid, am laid in earth, may my wrongs create
No trouble, no trouble in, in thy breast
Remember me, remember me, but ah!
Forget my fate
Remember me, but ah!
Forget my fate
Remember me, remember me, but ah!
Forget my fate
Remember me, but ah!
Forget my fate
Beautiful performance, thank you!
things to listen for - I think its important to not belt the high notes - in the opera she is dying - she drank poison - life is fading from her - she's getting weaker and weaker. Light and breathy head voice on those high notes! Also there are baroque vocal ornaments that could have been used more to make the performance more authentic. She has a beautiful voice without a doubt!
I don't think "belting" is a thing in opera
@@bestof1506 Sorry I didn't use the word fortissimo when I should have. Did you miss my point?
@@kendallparish5611 no I agree with you. I just see this "belting" everywhere and it's just confusing tbh
I HEAR ELIZABETH SCHWARTZKOP IN HER BEAUTIFUL VOICE. THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING. WUNDERBAR!
👏👏👏👏
I don't understand anything, but I felt every nuance in her face
Thy hand, Belinda, darkness shades me,
On thy bosom let me rest,
More I would, but Death invades me;
Death is now a welcome guest.
When I am laid, am laid in earth,
May my wrongs create
No trouble, no trouble in thy breast;
Remember me, remember me, but ah! forget my fate.
Remember me, but ah! forget my fate.
That high note was incredible.
Beautiful!
Beautiful voice!
Interpretazione molto fine
Очень хорошо.
