One big thing that I learned when getting into mid-diamond is passing. The pass that works in lower ranks, aka putting the ball around the corner and hoping it comes across net, doesn’t work 75% of the time. Learning to pass in center field and do aerial passes as well as aerial redirects from passes is super important and most diamonds can’t defend those that well
Struggling with it since Plat I. The problem is that my kicks are not accurate enough yet, but I'm getting more creative on making loose passes. It's working until now in D2. My hope is that i learn to kick until D3 lol
im hijacking this comment to say that all the smaller channels are more useful to learn off of. the bigger channels don't give you good advice because they get money from coaching.
Boost management is important, but that doesn't mean to avoid big boost orbs. If you need a lot of boost (example: for and air dribble) it's faster to grab one of the big boi boost orbs instead of another route

I’m a gold who can wave dash, air dribble (sometimes) and hit flicks/dribble. My weakness is rotations and defense tho so I sell a lot of games even when I twist up the opponent on offense.

Air roll was the biggest game changer for me, I was hard stuck on plat and one of the reasons why is because I couldn't air roll to line the shot correctly, making me fail a lot of aerial shots, now, although I'm still in plat and started practicing more air rolls, I see a huge difference on my gameplay, I hit a lot more shots and I'm slowly but surely climbing up.. I play most of the times with my friend that is diamond 3 and that helped me improve a lot too making solo games significantly easier for me

I don’t think you should be learning that in gold 1 or silver whatever. You probably can’t aerial right so just watch sunlesskhans ultimate training, I promise I got me from gold 3 to diamond 2

U didnt teach them the importance of positioning or rotations. I've seen some players that have good mechanics but terrible game sense and yes mechanics matter. But gamesense is much more important. To prove this I can't really do any fancy mechanics. No air dribbles or fancy double taps and im c1 div 2 after 11 games this season. I understand plats much more than u as I've played with them quite a lot. They like go for triple commits they don't buy time as last man. They don't defend backboard. They usually have terrible mechanics and reads. They don't even realise their mistakes they are that bad at the game. They get toxic when they put u in a bad situation and get scored on for example, when it was their error that lead to it most the time (well for me anyways cause I'm champ and much smarter than they are, but I still make mistakes too) I remember being a real plat a few seasons ago and I understand u feel ur becoming good at the game. But when I looked back there is still so much to learn. Even now at champ. Have this mindset and dont be a toxic lil noob. I could go on and on. But nice vid I subbed. I learned a thing or two.
So I don't get the boost management thing really tbh. My boost management isn't great but my boost pad pathing and rotations and boost stealing are great and even in Diamond 3 I still feel like I always have enough boost. My theory is that I boost starve the entire field😁
3:20 I love that you don't even mention that you clearly tip your nose forward before tilting back during a wavedash. We clearly see it in the slowdown, but you tell the audience just to lean the car back. By not tilting forward first, you may end up with a harder to control car, so if you're struggling, try tilting forward first.

Boost management is so critical and it's frustrating how many mid diamond players are reliant on 100 pads . They will literally take themselves out of plays/easy goal opportunities to get a 100 pad. It's mind numbing . Also you only need 10-15 boost to save any shot.

Nice guide, Im a 1600 grandchampion but I decided to check it out for fun haha. I think this guide is pretty good overall you make a few good points that a lot of players don't recognize or do not know how to do the right way. I do feel as though it was a little broad and that you maybe could have included more detailed things such as maintaining momentum and pacing along with positioning, I feel like players often don't recognize these things. I think you made a lot of points players would already know although making a few good ones aswell. I think for the higher ranks like diamond 3/champion players you could have made this guide a bit more informative for the champions for example, Most champions know almost everything you said in this and they could really benefit from something more advanced like momentum. I learned momentum and pacing / good positioning realizing I don't need to control the ball every play recently. And it makes it so much more easy for me to rank up. Me getting placed in c1 this season I realised this is a big thing champs struggle on is keeping pace and momentum.
Its all fun and games until you're grinding away in a plat lobby for 3s and a team of champ skilled pub stomp you out of existence. Yeah, I only do tournaments and casual playlists now.

it's because boost on your counter is rounded out but in reality it is calculated in a different unit :)
