Usually the Secret Squirrels prefer for POTUS to fly from WH to Andrews on Marine One, mostly because it's really a pain in the a$$ for traffic in DC when he moves by road. They even stop rail traffic that might pass over the highway on the route. I know that because I used to be a railroader in the area and had my train held for over an hour once for Clinton to come out of the I-395 tunnel under the Mall, and head over the Potomac. The Suburbans are often used when the move is not ceremonial, and it's just transportation somewhere. Believe me, those are not a Chevy any civilian could buy, and you notice they always use two identical ones and mix-up the order they are in so an assassin trying to blast the President could not be sure which car is which. Also, all the Presidential cars have the same license plate number, so they can't be differentiated that way either. Same for the copters, they just about always fly in groups of three and shuffle the formation several times during the flight, like a big shell game.
