I feel like this season really suffers from being a setup for season 5
Yep
Yeah, this season really dragged its heels moving the story forward and you can definitely tell. Almost everything apart from A Train and what's going to happen in the finale was pretty much pointless bullshit. Oh wow, Tek Knight from the spin off show shows up in the main show, only to die immediately. That character that wasn't in the previous seasons and won't be in the final one and overall did nothing. Huh. Well, at least the gimmicky character with the ragebait BDSM dungeon got the reaction from people like they were hoping for, because it's not like there was anything else getting their attention before that episode.
3:36 - 3:58 is a good point
“ “-Charlie
lmfao
A lot of people don’t realize that being the weakest in your franchise doesn’t mean it’s bad
That's true, Season 4 has a lot of good moments like Butcher and Homelander's arc, A-Train's redemption, Hughie Sr final moments, and finally, the whole setup of Supe takeover but other than that it is definitely weaker compared to other seasons, hopefully the finale ends in the banger
This. It's the worst season of the Boys, but it's still the Boys.
Invincible is a great example of how to make an adult superhero show that has impactful character development. Seeing Mark's inner conflict with being a superhero and not being able to balance his life with all the responsibilities, and then all of it comes crashing down when he takes his first life intentionally. Its amazing and really leaves the audience feeling something. The Boys has good moments, but the payoff of Season 4 didn't hit as hard as it should have because the character development was for the most part compromised for shock value and an unusually poor treatment of Hughie. I just can't believe Starlight got mad at Hughie at the end when they found out about the shapeshifter, like what? If anything, Hughie should be mad at Starlight for making such dumb decisions that hurt the team
Negatives: Frenchie’s arc, Starlight acting out of character, killing Hughies dad early, the repetitive far right villains, Deeps downfall, repetitive anti conservatism, Hughies mom showing up spontaneously, kicking Huggies while he’s down.
Positives: Homelander being somehow more scary than he already was, The V’d up farm animals, Spiderman parody, the return of Black Noir and the fact he talks and flys now. Additional supes and new powers, A-Train trying to be better.
the season was like 90 percent pointless shock value and supes fetishes.
Loved charlies take at 8:06
you ass
Me too
Weakest season purely cause its literally just a set up for the big stuff in the final season. Its not a bad season, Frenchie stuff was just a weak arc that felt very repetitive to previous season, the shock value shit just went overboard this season for no reason.
One thing I always say is “Even if it’s the weakest it doesn’t mean it’s bad” I don’t even think this is the weakest. I’d have to do a rewatch but honestly I’d say season 1 is the weakest and like I said that doesn’t mean it’s bad. All 4 seasons are pretty solid. If this is the worst the show can get than that’s pretty good.
@@Hockeyhobo89 Yeah I haven't rewatch season 1 but I do remember it being a very engaging season since we were getting to know how things works, the difficulties of killing supes, how powerful Vought really is, etc.
i also hate how they’re completely walking backwards with hughie, in season 1 hughie and frenchie were my favorite characters and now theyre both the most annoying and my least favorite. frenchie has spent all season whining and hughie is back to being a wimpy awkward dude like as if all of his character development was removed.
Dumb take
You didn’t think before typing lol
@@memes3751you were so pressed about this comment you commented twice😂😂😂
@@memes3751 what he said is true. Cope
hughie literally grew the most this season. He slit a mans throat and wasnt even scared while doing it, and he killed his dad which is something that even his dad didnt think he would be able to go through with
Even though this is definitely the weakest season, it’s still really good
yeah that plays in line with his 70 rating. Its crazy how the worst season is still amazing cinema-wise.
I 100% loved S2 way more then S4, but I think people are just being completely dishonest to say s4 is actualyl really bad when it's not by far.
70 rating is an accurate pre finale rating, if the finale is as good as episode 4 and 7 then I would definitely give it an 80 on my personal moist meter
@peppermint3808 the only thing I would genuinely say was bad was the frenchie sub plot since it basically amounted to nothing important happening
@@MVPdobe2180fr that character arc just felt completely off
this is so real. i also dont feel like people talk about starlight and hughie enough, half the time they just treat each other like any other person
Good or bad season regardless, Frenchie's plotline went nowhere for no reason. He feels guilt for stuff he's still involved in because of some guy whose family he killed, puts himself in jail and gets right back out. Like what even was the point of any of that
The Boy’s weakest season is still better than the acolyte.
Well that's an incredibly low bar lol
Honestly surprised I haven’t seen any “you only don’t like it because you’ve realised the show is making fun of u” comments yet
Before I watched this season I thought they would use the virus on homelander and then he laughs manically when they figure out it doesn’t work on him like the clip we saw in the trailer in ep 4
rip black nour he was my fav :(
i think all the unnecessary sex scenes are gonna ruin the rewatch value of the show
Another crazy aspect of the season is that how episode 4 was Super relevant to the Dr.Disrespect drama
...what?
I was watching a reaction channel that just started The Boys and somehow Homelander season one seemed more intimidating back then, even though you did't see him do the level of gory violence he does now.
Yeah partly bc we didn't fully know how pathetic he was back then
@@hoveringgray2817 That make sense. He had Stillwell managing stuff for him.
He was also smarter, they’ve just decided to make him stupid now because he’s the showrunners version of Trump. He has to be insanely evil and has to be coming up with a plan to take over society and enslave people and whatnot but in no way can he be smart cause there’s no possible way that Trump is smart in their eyes. In season 1, however, he is pretty fucking intelligent and he’s the only one that figures that something is wrong and that translucent is missing and he also comes up with the great plan of creating supervillains and he figures out who butcher and the rest of the boys are and what they’re plotting and he figures out that stillwell and vogelbaum were hiding his kid from him. Hell he was smart enough to realize the slight differences in their stories to him. But now he dumb dumb cause Trump Trump
It’s probably because he wasn’t a very deep character back then, we still didn’t know too much about him and how pathetic he is
@@Frshcukodude homelander making dumb decisions isn’t because he is a stupid person, it’s because he acts purely out of emotion, sister sage perfectly displays how sage acts logically while homelander acts emotionally, homelander still shows some level of intelligence like when he learns that he hasn’t been a very good parent for his son. Also homelander acting like trump isn’t a proper complaint, it’s called social commentary, there is nothing wrong with a show having social commentary
I think Sage has some masterplan that's gonna be big
Starlight is probably starting to realize she has never been a totally good person, like remember when she killed a guy in season 2?
I don’t remember this, what scenario are you mentioning?
@@its9333 The scene where they had to take a car to take Hughie to the hospital, she attacked a man after he pulled out a gun and killed him by accident
@@thatonerotom8999 dang it’s been a while, imma go look it up. Thanks
@@thatonerotom8999 The one time her useless powers decide to do anything and it's the one time she didn't want them to, fuck's sake.
I like this season
It’s the worse one tho because starlight is buns
yeah I don't think this season is bad, but it's the worst one imo
@@raz7m858yeah the season isn’t bad it’s just not as good as the last few seasons
@@imaheadout2639 and it’s mainly cuz that awful starlight plot if they didn’t include the dumb starlight stuff and put a different character in that runtime like noir Frenchie or one of the other side characters it would be way better
imo season 3 is a lot worse. it was exciting when it first aired because of soldier boy, but watching it again there's not much going on, the humor is good but it used to be better (and this season was funnier honestly)
Super agree with Charlie. The show is great, this is a much weaker season than the others. The first three seasons I was almost entirely positive on, this season I have more criticisms than all of the other seasons combined. It’s still good and I still want to watch, this one just isn’t doing it for me like the others
Sage is only smart because of V. Think about it.
Tbh if we was in starlight position this whole show we would proble loose our shit as well
Tired of this notion that this season is the weakest despite having bad moments (frenchie, starlight) it’s actually getting shit done unlike season 3 where they went on a wild goose chase with soldier boy and then betrayed him at the end because le ryan 😢 when they literally had homelander right fucking there and damn it noir should’ve had his showdown with soldier boy killing him off was the dumbest choice ever at least should’ve had him dying by soldier boy rather than him being killed by homelander for le shock value
I think this season is better than last one.
100%
Yeah its definitely the weakest season. A train lowkey carrying this season.
What the hell happen at 3:14 😂
3:13 *
I like the whole arc with Sage, but honestly, the French guy arc is kinda forced. It's definitely the WEAKEST season, BY FAR. The arcs for the characters are either really good or kinda shit.
Yeah the writers always seemed confused what to do with Frenchie. Its really showing this season. Kimiko and A-train are really good though.
This season feels like the demons slayeryseason 4
yeah bro but demon slayer last episode was PEAK, chill's all the time, with one of the best animation's i have ever seen, let's see what will be with the boys last episode.
yea pretty much
@chillshortvideos1669 that kind of proved their point, if all you can say is "the last episode was amazing" then it isn't a good season. It should have been at the end of last season or it's own mini movie. It was 5 chapters turned into 8 episodes, when a seasonal anime has worse pacing than weekly One Piece, it's bad
That's literally what it is lmao, just set up for The Boys "Infinity Castle"/ final season
@@GuitarManFromJupiter i thought it was good, seemed like a "calm before the storm" thing where we can get more insight into the characters before the movies
This new season of The Boys is very sus
I liked the season a lot so far but I dont like a few certain aspects of it, I’d say it’s pretty strong tbh
Charlie has a lot of good takes, but man I disagree with a lot of this and I'm only a couple mins into the video
They hurt Starlight so much from what I've heard
She has character flaws but it shouldnt be a complaint
@glogangglory I mean the beauty queen stuff isn't a suprise but abortion is out of character.
@@ahhculdeehow tf is abortion out of character???
@@gbemadeagreed, it’s very clear that Annie has been going through a lot emotionally
@Gouda992 Doesn't match with her previous beliefs and actions. Just makes her look like an irresponsible character.
The most glaring stain is the writing in my opinion. The dialogue between characters is ass and the “comedy” is so low hanging and hacky.
God I love Homelander. Even better is Antony Starr, he’s just the kindest guy ever.
unless he's in Spain.
This season is pretty decent, it's just the red pill Twitter users that are angry frenchie "turned out" bisexual and that they couldn't tell how they were being made fun of for 4 seasons
no, the writing quality has decreased too. It's really really sad, the storyline in this season was SUCH a big opportunity for quality writing.
*I'm no bigot, but everyone hated Colin, he was such an unnecessary character.
It’s a sad state when an octopus and a man have a more compelling love story than a main character. That’s all I’m sayin. My issue with the writing is how useless and bad the boys have become. They accomplish 0 missions and constantly fuck up or casually just let Firecracker run away after they killed splinter, Huey not telling his father he has V and getting him away from the hospital, shit even his mom giving it to him and Huey kinda forgetting that next episode. A train, MM, Homelander, Ryan, Newman plot is all really strong imo tho.
I don't care that Frenchie is bi. It's the fact that his character arc hasn't progressed at all since season 3. He's just a boring character, now. Recycled plot points that weren't all that interesting to begin with. Nina was also a boring villain, competing with the likes of Homelander and Soldier Boy in the same season.
Franchie's whole gay love story is a clear cram in for inclusivity points, all 3 previous seasons had been developing and strengthening franchise and kimikos relationship and then his entire character does a 180 in 2 episodes.
@@amoose1709 If you couldn't tell that he was bi from season 1 you're very clearly one of the people I mentioned above🤦♂️😂
i think it is the weakest season so far but sage is amazing and a train has me invested more than anyone from any other season except homelander of course but for way different reasons. also i think with the criticism of last years finale i believe they’re saving everything for the finale. i have a feeling it’ll br their best episode they’ve ever aired😂
A-Train acts more like an actual person in this season than any of the other characters do lol
Show still looks the same to me, it just had the most unfortunate time to come out and the first 3 episodes not being the best, if it weren't for its many controversies than this wouldve gotten not even half the backlash. And Most of the issues ive seen were more subjective than objective. Most the complains I see I just need to ask if you are aware of what show you are watching and if Know why is this a shock
I think the thing I dislike most about this season is how heavy handed the leftist themes are. Like it’s beyond spoon feeding and is full on funneling food down your throat.
I understand to an extent, since so many last season were so oblivious to the message that I guess the showrunners wanted it more obvious.
I just think it comes of as… annoying rather than insightful.
I think people need to start separating fiction from reality. The Boys is not even a 50% of what America is today or what it is going through.
The Boys is a much more cruel and harsher version of America then what it really is. Hell anyone can tell that Homelander is not even 10% of what Trump is. Homelander is a legit fascist trying to literally kill anyone in his way.
Homelander is QUITE LITERALLY the Civil War president guy IF HE HAD POWERS.
The politics in it are so obnoxious at points.
The Boys is one of the most overrated shows ever. Seriously, this show is massively over praised
Sometimes he has really stupid takes like with this, dmc5 and some other ones I can’t remember rn
what he says in this video is all true? objectively the worst season lol
Although he was being weird abt some of the character choices, most of the ppl heck even u fans be saying the same shi too abt some characters like starlight.
hes right tho
“He has an opinion that I don’t agree with, therefore, he is a stupid numbskull”
He’s right
bullshit. the boys is still a good show. calling it weaker from other seasons is kap
Its a good show because of the first 3 seasons. This season is a 6 tops.
Its still good but some of the things this season are glaringly weak. Despite some things in this season being like the best of the show.
Any argument to add or are you just butthurt that the show is worse now?
I agree with the first part, but not the last. It definitely is still a good show, but it is probably the weakest season of them all. And anyone saying it's a "bad" show now are just idiots.
Sage's character motivation sucks
eh
ik right?
Everyone hoped her whole plan was to betray homelander ( "like Ceaser") but they didn't even do that...
(haven't watched ep8 yet, so I still have hope this doesn't age well)
