    Cover crops are looking great, have you had much rain down your way? We have had more rain in the last 3 weeks than we have had since April. I think your broccoli and the late cover crop will be OK, depends how long the temps are in the lower 20's, you could always throw a cover over them. Nice demo on how deep the roots grow.
    Cover crops are pretty overlooked by many gardeners, they can do so much to improve the soil and biology. Keeping living roots maintains the soil biology so when you plant in the spring the biology is ready and waiting. Did you do any cover crops in the tomato beds?
    Our soil temps are still in the 50's, waiting until they drop into the lower 40's or upper 30's to mulch some of the beds with leaf mold. So far my jumping worm proof leaf mold bin has worked, no jumping worms so far with about 1/3 of the way to go. Picked up some wood to make a slat door system.
    Hope all is well !!!!

      I'm equally nervous about having to terminate the cover crop. But as long as you have a plan, it seems to be okay. It helps that Jason is in charge and knows what each crop will need. There are some that will definitely die over the winter! Cheers Colleen

    Good looking results, y'all! Like your style! Nice sweet taters I saw there, too. Per late, I started red crimson clover in January just to see what would happen. It worked (NC). You might try that if you have a warm spell in winter and you need something on bare ground. Make sure to chop and drop it before it goes full seed of course.

    • @clivesconundrumgarden
      @clivesconundrumgarden  11 месяцев назад

      Cool and thanks Jules !!
      Apparently the old farmers used to spread clover seed on the snow up here in January, it would melt and germinate early spring. Thanks for the termination tip as well!!

    Hi guys I think the peas could survive the cold spell. I hope the vetch and peas do form the rizobium bacterial nodules on the roots, some people in the USA innoculate the seeds first, but ivd never heard of doing that in England. I hope you get some garlic in soon.🤠👍❤️

    • @clivesconundrumgarden
      @clivesconundrumgarden  11 месяцев назад +2

      We definitely saw the nodules in the vetch bed in Victoria. The stuff is beautiful and really transformed the soil over the winter. I'd did actually innauculate the seeds on another bed bed, didn't see a difference but the rabbits ate the inoculated seed sprouts 🤣🤔🤣
