Tim, have enjoyed your current work, and decided to go back to the start. Just watched the sleeper train from Helsinki, so this is a stark contrast. Anyway, here I am, an elderly lady in Texas who has terminal cancer. Have lived in Europe and Asia, and traveled many places. Thought my bucket list was all ticked until I got hooked in your vlogs. Longyearben, the pyramids at Giza, the luxury hotels in the Middle East, the crane hotel in the Netherlands, ..such a joy to watch you experience them. You are very relatable and since I will never leave my little corner of this world again, it gives me great pleasure to see you find out what is happening out there ! You think you are producing content for our enjoyment, and you are, but going for a “walk” with you gives me great peace and happiness. Bless you and your family from Marti in South Texas
Used to go to California Cliffs 55-60 yrs ago, when we stayed with our maternal grandma in the prefabs on Coronation Rd & later Frederick Rd Gt Yarmouth. So many fond memories of our lovely family holidays, travelled down by train as my father was a fireman on the railways.
Thank you for posting this. It brings back wonderful memories of childhood holidays in a caravan at California Cliffs in the early 80s. As children we'd get excited as the car turned into 'Rottenstone Lane' towards the entrance to the park. We used to have to use communal showers as old vans didn't have them back then. It was a real old-school style holiday with camp hosts and professional(ish) cabaret entertainment every night. Even had to close at 10.30pm on Sunday nights. Does anyone else remember camp hosts 'Wally & Charlie' or 'Big Tim Laine'? And there was a kids room with proper entertainment too. It's sad to see the amusement arcade turned into town houses. I spent hours there on the machines and the bingo table. A meal at the Cali Tavern was always a treat, and the beer garden in the summer was lovely (as a kid with a bottle of coke, while the adults drank beer). Good times!
I've lived in the California, USA for over 30 years and I do see some resemblance to our coastline. I'm sure your fish and chips are much better than ours though!
Hi, I started watching your channel about a year ago and have watched most of the episodes since then. Now Im also going to also watch the older stuff, safe in the knowledge that I will enjoy. Thank you, your channel is tops.
Beautiful, we are so privileged to live in this part of the country. We used to have a caravan on the California Cliffs holiday park years ago, absolutely loved it. Great video, fabulous weather for April. Shame everywhere is on lock down though, but it does give a different perspective on things. Normally the place would be heaving with holiday makers, but everything is so quiet. I do feel for the business owners though. Lets hope the holiday makers return and make the place vibrant again.
At 1 min 36 you pass a cafe (and fish and chip shop)where I worked in the summer for Neville and Greta Brown (who leased this place in the summer, but owned the main chip shop and Briars Cafe on the Ormesby Rd opposite the holiday camp). It was fantastically busy here in 1978-81, and I remember vividly trying to close at midnight, and desperate people banging on the door desperate for anything - "anything.. even crispy bits mate!!" Each week a different part of the country would close their factories, and you would have a different accent to try and understand - but great characters and great fun. Crazy memories. Anyone remember Eric Stewart who ran the bingo and amusements in California camp? I worked there in 1975.
Just discovered your channel. We adore Norfolk and visit often as our daughter lives in Norwich. Thank you for your videos and looking forward to watching all the others😀
my mum loved it at california great vlog you do it well spent many years there when i was younger enjoyed that thanks tim ive subscribed loved it i stayed at the cottage thats up for sale
We miss it when we don’t go........ check out the California Tavern excellent food and beer in the right place next to the beach ....ideal spot to stay to check out local attractions Love to go again this year ! 😃
That footpath used to be the Midlands to caister railway line, remember the track being took up, if you'd carried on you can just make out caister platform.
We live in Derby and my partner mentioned collecting a car from Norfolk so I thought 'wonder if Tim's been there' and of course you have 😂 now I want to make a weekend of it! Haha looks lovely!
Where you showed the caravan park, did that area once gave holiday chalets called California cliffs. I remember there was a holiday camp almost diagonal across the street. Not on the beachside.
Last time I went down there the other month the gate had been locked. It has gotten more difficult in recent years to get on the beach at California when the tide is in. It comes right up to the steps and the rocks.
Hi Tim , My husband loves the portion size of chips you get from that chippy . They are huge lol . We have Stayed at the Park dean resorts holiday park in Rottenstone Lane before . Great vlog as always. Love Tracey xxx
Walk With Me Tim sorry just checked my photos and it’s the orchid house next door to the pink palace arcade, getting old (retired now) so memory confused.
At the end of that walk to Caister there used to be (at least back in the 70s) a cafe on the beach. I think it was raised up from the sand on wooden legs. Do you remember it? And do you have any idea when and why it disappeared?
Walk With Me Tim I know mate but you know the council’s paranoia with health and safety! It’s just what another dog walker told me so it may be just conjecture!
I see the chippy closed. You said you’d done work on the site? I know your other half is a singer, what is it you do (or did if you’ve managed to make this full time)? Maybe one of your subscribers will tell me - although I have watched a fair few videos of yours now - maybe as many as 50?
wow, really gorgeous. we always went to norfolk , camping as kids, loved it, stayed at wells next the sea. Thankyou for your beautiful videos, i found you because you comment my comment on JP in furterventura, have you been there, its my favourite island. I live in Brighton and the closest we have to this is camber sands, which is amazing.
Hello there I love your videos I’ve recently moved to the east of England Norwich and I would love to go to California beach which is the nearest railway station and is it easy to get to because I do not drive
Where does one look for property rentals there and house for sale? I current live in California. The US California lol but im curious about the market there 🏡
Juat curious, how did you get 50k views on your first video? Were you famous or had a large following elsewhere before the publishing this first video?
Tim is an accomplished TV and radio presenter.. This particular video is over 4 years old and has received 50k views during that time, not all at once.. Some of his later vlogs have had millions of views..
Well, I guess as a kid I never appreciated how amazing the beaches are up here. I used to live in California USA..and looking at Winterton the beaches are just as beautiful as the real Cali! Deffo after watching these im gonna do a road trip with my dog and visit!
