Google search is diabolical. It's pay to play now (i.e. results of advertisers are put at the top) with much of the results repeated, redundant, and some results are censored. Anything beyond the first page in Google search is useless.
Big Tech will quickly catch up to OpenAI's LLM which is already happening with Meta's Llama and Anthropic. AI models will be commoditized. No moat for OpenAI and they don't have the network effects of Google. This will fade eventually.
Interesting video Chris, I heard recently that “big tech” will spend a trillion dollars on AI this decade. I’m curious what you think the future return on that investment will be? Open AI is bleeding money so it makes sense to introduce a search engine to compete with google. People haven’t really showed the interest I think they expected, beyond a curiosity/novelty. Seems to be the problem with AI in general, the possibilities might be “endless”, but these companies sure have a hard time explaining or showing that they are, or will be profitable. I find the whole subject confusing.
You know I think that Chachi BT obviously the way it's rolled out and having you know millions of kids try to write papers with it really solid it a bit. However the truth is that Chachi Beatty if you ask for it to cite its work it will and then you can verify it so if they refine this I would suspect that this could be a serious competitor to Google in the research area and who knows. By the way this reply was text-to-speech while I'm driving but I just thought it was an interesting video you had

It will be great to have a search engine that tells you right in the link to the article that it’s mostly bullsh*t.
Seems like they are copying Perplexity. I use perplexity more than google search these days
If there’s no ads, then it’s a win.
Reaĺy? Wait a minuete
Not sure what the point of another search engine is for. Google search and Siri seem to work fairly well.

Sounds like there is potential for information overload. 🤔
