Hi there, thanks for watching. Right now, what I have my students do is use the Contaro Glass Material, drop the scale of the Normal Map until the ripples are small, and change the color. You can adjust the other material properties to suit. Its not perfect, and the result is vedry dark, but you can get reflections and ripples for still image shots. There may be another fix for this, but this is just the one that I know of! Maybe someone else can suggest something...!
@@viarender Hi, thank you for the response! I do similar, with charcoal glass. I thought maybe it's some bug...would be nice if they fix it, for the caustics etc!
thanks. Since I often don't use synchronization with sketchup, I prefer to export my models in FBX format and then import them as independent geometry. I've read about it somewhere, but it seems to me that it does indeed generate far fewer errors. I mean, those parts that stay black, etc. What do you think? And thank you very much for mentioning the "active container" set function. It's precious.
Apologies for the delay in replying to you! I am really having a hard time with the TM to Sketchup Datasmith exporter, and my students have lost a lot of time on this too. I hope it gets some attention soon. I think the FBX export is great, but it require one or two more steps, but I may revert back to that!
Thanks for these great tips! I have a question about grass settings. When we apply the grass by scatter and looks ok in real time, it just disappears in ray tracing mode.. Do you know why is that? Thanks for your time
Hmmm.... What type of grass are you using? I did a test there with Paint and Scatter grass and they both show up in the PT mode. Can you also check your Grass Fading Option in teh settings /Preferences menu? Side note; Detail grass cannot be used with the Paint option, but can be scattered. I'm in TM 23.1.2
one of the things that bothers me about twinmotion is that I can't generate soft shadows with artificial lights. For example, the light panels. I'd like these panels to produce a diffused light, as they do with vray. And could be invisible like in vray. It's true that path tracer solves this problem, but I create my animations in Lumen mode.
I had to test this a second ago; I hadnt noticed it, but yeah, totally spot on. The shadow bias slider will affect global light, but not the artificial ones.
Yeah, I found the preview versions to be unstable, and not really worth jumping to, just yet. Lumen is cool, and I’ll do a video on that soon, but the PT needs some attention. Thanks for watching and commenting! Cheers.
It is difficult to see because the mouse pointer is not visible. It would have been better if the relevant part had been enlarged and shown when making a selection.
Always glad to learn a few more tips about TM. Thank you!
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
your tip about detailed grass is great
Thank you!!
gem of a video, thanks a lot
Thank you so much, for watching and commenting!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks!
Great tips!
Thanks for watching and commenting, really appreciate it!
Thank you.👍
Thanks for watching and commenting, it’s great to hear back from the users who watch the videos.
Thanks a lot! Do you have a method for water in Path Tracer? As for now(2023.2), the water material is not properly rendered...

Yeah, a fix, or even a PT specific fake water material would be great.

Thanks for sharing! I wish YT let video makers go back and edit videos; I’d put this type of content/comment in there to help others.
Cheers

I tried new version but it's not working efficiently. I think something changed about lighting. Path tracer has some bugs for me in these days

Thanks for the suggestion. I hope the video was still useful to you!
