I've loved this song most of my life, sad as it actually is. The first time I remember hearing it was when some of my Mennonite cousins (Mom's side is Mennonite) sang it in Plautsdietsch. Thank-you for sharing this version here for all of us. :) I inherited my mom's copy of Kjenn Jie Noch Plautsdietsch. :)
Thanks for your comment. You may have heard a different version of this song in the past, which is a slightly closer translation to the original English. The more common Plautdietsch version of this melody is rendered "Due best mien Sonneschien" (Sunshine, not starshine), and has some different lyrics. But anyway, glad you like it, and "Kjenn Jie Noch Plautdietsch" has been a very valuable resource for me through the years!
Hello, I enjoy this song, and your performance, a lot. I had a teacher in highschool who is the daughter of Mennonites and she showed me this. She said this is the dialect her parents speak. I was wondering if I could get you to go to the trouble of writing the lyrics in Plautdietsch. I'm trying to pick up on little bits here and there and a song would be helpful but I am not equipped to write it out myself. Thanks, and blessings.
Thanks Micah Starner, I am by no means a Plautdietsch expert, and am not a fluent speaker. I've typed out the lyrics as well as I could, using the phonetics laid out in the dictionary I own. I've pasted the lyrics into the description. Although I couldn't find the word "fechs" (I understand this means something like 'immediately') in my dictionary. Hope this helps.

Great job! So proud of you.
Wow sounds Awesome
The accent sounds like Forest of Dean England in German .. Good song
Yeah...in the subtitles I spelled "crept" with a "k" for some reason....
That should've gone in the outtakes.... :)
Hätte mir gern eure Gegend mal angesehen aber ich hab Flugangst
I can speak English and Hochdeutsch, and I can understand about 90% of it, with some background knowledge of syntax origins.
Komisch, als Kind konnte ich fast gar kein Deutsch verstehen wenn überhaupt. Und Plattdeutsch konnte ich aber als erste Sprache.
Nice man!! Where you from? Love the song..

Hello there meals24u. I'm from Central Canada, right in the heart of Mennonite Plautdietsch land!
