- This is me reacting to a volleyball match between Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle and Sir Safety Susa Perugia from the semifinals of the 2023 CEV Champions League. Yay, the semi with Perugia, I was waiting for this one :) Hope you feel better, Erik, it was so heartbreaking to watch the quarterfinals of Plusliga, knowing how exhausted all of you guys were. The schedule is ridiculous for teams playing in European Cups :< And yet you managed to win, congrats!
Good luck in the plus liga and the CEV finals next month! When I heard about VNL coming to Rotterdam I checked the schedule hoping the US national team would play and there it was.. POL vs USA. Got front row tickets immediately so I can hopefully see you play! Big fan and really looking forward to hearing your celebrations on the court in real life haha

Everyone in Poland is now basically talking about how Zaksa's winner mentality is simply unbreakable, after you guys came back in the 2nd match against Warsaw people started saying that if Projekt didn't manage to stop you then, noone will lol! What do you think the secret to Zaksa's mental strength is?

I can't imagine how scary it must be still being so high up with Leon coming from the pipe. Getting hit can't be helped sometimes but man it's a survival choice when it comes to Leon 😂

Maybe a hot take but I like that the matches are played in their entirity. There's people probably paying for tickets to watch those matches, and even when its done as far as getting to the finals goes, they still got a ticket for the match and not just the two sets. I can see how it is frustrating for players as you already got the result, and I reckon it's especially rough on Perugia. Yet it can also be good for the players that get less playtime on a regular base!

Hi, Erik. I always look forward to your videos with reactions because they give an interesting perspective of a player, which is different from the perspective of a fan watching a match. I recommend making an appointment with some JW player (I think Fornal would be willing) and together they commented on the Champions League final.

Good to have you in Poland. I remember when Zator had left Zaksa and I was thinking who can be the best choice and the choice could be only the one - Eric Shoji :). I remember the semi-final POL - USA and the words of that match's commentator: What the hell you are doing please do not server on Shoji... :) you are the best receiver and you still are... I don't think that Perugia played their best game. But, as a stauch Zaksa fan, I firmly believe that you would have won this semifinal even if they had been in their top notch form.

hey erik, could you explain why an out of system set should be tight and inside?
Yes so in general we like to set our out of system sets tighter and a little more inside. We have found that this gives the hitter a higher chance of either killing the ball or maybe recycling it back to our side. I think you’ll see almost every pro team set like this out of system especially as the ball gets further from the net.
@@ErikShojivolleyball "especially as the ball gets further from the net" exactly, because if you set the ball close to the antenna the hitter will have a hard time hitting because of the angle the ball is coming from. SO it makes total sense to set the ball inside so that the hitter can have a better view of the ball and the opposite court.

To be fair, Perugia let a few lads rest, too. Semeniuk, Piccinelli, Herrera played on, though. And winning for 3 points in their own court at that stage was quite something anyway.

Zaksa didnt really show their best performance in the beginning of the season but they kept getting better and better. Also bednorz became a key player after joining to team. I guess that is the result of being a winner team. Zaksa in mens vakıfbank in womens such 2 winner teams
Bednorz is a key player in every club he joins (Zaksa, Modena, Zenith Kazan, etc.). I remember (can be found on RUclips) the Seperlegi match between Modena and Perugia. It was at a time when Zaytsev and Christensen played for Modena. The way Bednorz played among all these stars was epic. He is a world-class player and is currently one of the best in his position
