Poland was on fire but it was a great tournament to see all the way through.

Poland is a powerhouse. I was able to watch them live against Japan in the PH Leg. They are so strong!

I watched this match both on VBTV with English commentary and U-Next with Japanese commentary, it was so fun the Japanese commentators gave a lot of compliments about DeFalco, I kinda laughed when they laughed saying "it's DeFalco again" 😁 one of the commentators was Fukuzawa, former Japanese national player.
Erik, how's your Polish doing? 😉 You've been a huge part of ZAKSA's foundation for 2 seasons now. Do you understand at least some of our language? Love to see you rock it more in the upcoming PlusLiga season! ❤
In sport, knowledge of local curses is essential :) Even the Polish chess grandmaster Paweł Teclaf, when he made a dramatic mistake at the end of the game during the blitz World Champ and fell off his chair (the video of this incident was a hit on the web), he shouted: ''Kur.. mać !''

I think one of my all time favorite players to watch is Matt. DeFalco is working his way up my ranks with just how much better he’s gotten over the last couple of years

And I don't like watching matches between Poland and the USA, because the Yankees play every match with the same commitment and the Poles only play some matches for the highest stake at 100%. If Polish volleyball players play the match against the USA only at 80% or without faith in victory as a year ago in the VNL semi-final, they get a 0-3 thud. When an American sings an anthem with his hand on his heart, it is not just an empty theatrical gesture. That's why every match against the Americans must be approached as a match for life. And our volleyball players sometimes have a problem with that. Hence the humiliating 0-3 defeat, sometimes.

Great match for Poland
This set was kinda hard to watch as a fan from Poland haha imagine being up 16:12 and then losing the set. But always fun to watch you play against your ZAKSA teammates.

loved this match! I watched it live and it was some amazing volleyball. one thing I was missing was USA’s iconic energyyy, for the Olympic gold medal match better bring way better energy haha 😉😉 even though the outcome of the match, it was amazing to watch such amazing players as a young player myself, team USA has a very strong team and a very strong future. sometimes it’s just a game of momentum and especially with Polands amazing cheering. amazing job Erik can’t wait to see you play even more
I hope next year will be the Gold medal year for you guys whether it's VNL or Olympics. I hope you post more behind the scenes vlogs for the qualifiers later this year.

Even though this didn’t go team usa’s way it was still such a fun match and a fun tournament. I saw one of the games live and it was literally the coolest experience of my life so thank you for that team usa ❤️. I love you guys so much
I was very impressed with TJ Defalco’s performance both defense and offense. I just simply love him❤
The Polish serve at 23-23 was actually insane! To even make that a playable pass was wild too!
I've been at the NL - POL match and noticed Poland playing a lot of their players who I considered not the starting 6. What's your thoughts on coaches doing that?
Polands so deep there bench could probably make the playoffs in a tournament like this. Having 6 players start every game in a tournament is going to wear down that player a lot, so they want to rest there starting 6 whenever possible and tbh No hate To NL but Poland is WAY better there's not really a fear of losing even with the bench. one of the Reasons USA Got so far in the Tournament is because of how good Matt Anderson was in the Quarters and Semis, but when it came time for the Finals He was unfortunately not as good most likely because of how much he Played. Hope this Helped.
@@nathanaeldykstra5004 Don't get me wrong, I agree with Poland being the better team. The NL team lacks having more than one 'star' player in my opinion, where as Poland has plenty. It was just odd seeing them make it go to five sets when I think they could've taken it in a quicker fashion.
I thought it was about giving the 'bench' players more game rhythm so they will be in playing shape in case the team needs help aside the strongest six.
As for the USA team I wanna also credit Defalco, man really stepped up his game big time! Not to mention the middles doing wonders. With the current pace of the game it always baffles me how they get double and triple blocks in game..
@@nathanaeldykstra5004 Like that you mentioned Matt. They need really good opposites to fill in for Matt in case he has a bad game. Unfortunately, the backup opposites are just not that good.

I've never played volleyball, but as somebody with knee issues (yay gymnastics) I'm in physical pain every time I see these, especially when there are digs in which the defender leans pretty far to one side (tell me if there's a shorter name for those I know nothing lol). But that was a really awesome set, especially at the end when it was so close! just one question: do volleyball players have bad posture? like, you're always supposed to have your shoulders over for passing, so does that also translate to your normal posture?

Initially, I was slightly meh to see you chose 2nd set to cover here but in the end - being Poland's fan - it was actually valuable to scrutinize play-by-play this pretty massive choke we've committed. Great effort from the USA team to come back from 16-12 down, though!

I must admit the US aren't my favourite team. But, I've been Kędzierzyn's fan basically since they reached the CL final for the first time a bit more than twenty years ago. As I live abroad, obviously I don't have many opportunities to see them live, but I saw the Ljubljana final last year, the Trentino quarterfinal and Torino final this year. I am happy to have Eric Shoji in the club. And David Smith, too.
It's quite interesting to see that game analysed from the American perspective.
How much did Speraw use you and David in the scouting report?

No way you were ranked 6 before the tournament. As a Polish fan I get really anxious when we get to play USA, I think it is like the top 3 threat besides France and Italy (used to be Brazil and Russia but Russia is out lol. And Brazil kinda can not win vs Poland nowadays, dont know why).

Erick I watched live from my heart I have to say. That this match the team did not have any energy, looked tired, just did not feel as though they had any fight. After loosing first set that they should not have it just felt like they were done.
Mattie really just fell off in the second set, that being said still very Happy you guys got silver 🥈. Climb up to raking #2. Ladies finishing fourth are one point behind Turkey #1 #2.

The difference between the USA team and Poland was that USA played top volleyball from the very beginning of the tournament whereas Poland with each round was getting better and got top form on the final.
