The 2012 is SO much better then the ones before it. It drives and handles much better then previous year due to new engine and other hardware. If you haven't driven the new ones you're missing out. I really wanted one until I rented one which was a 2010. Disappointing! Then I drove the 2012. Totally different feel and capability. Nice job Jeep!
I love my Rubicon. It has tons of options including the "prissy" touch screen Bose stereo. It's totally worth. Much easier to select my Kenny Chesney songs and sounds great. It handles awesome Offroad in the snow and dirt. The top is pretty easy to take off too. The climate control system works great and is pretty much set and forget. The seats are comfortable and the ride and steering are much better than the previous model. Get one!
These are the new bling rides around here; big Crome tires under the trail badge is your rim size designation "22" and loud bump music. Best Jeep was the LJ Rubi IMO
This car is so freakin' worth it, especially in the Northeast. The power to merge onto an interstate where evetybody's doing 80 mph with ease, an absolute beast in the snow, easy to park in an urban setting, and the ability to take to the mountains and have a blast on the weekends. My next car will most definitely be a Rubicon. (College graduation present to myself. Fuck yeah.)
Also, nothing quite like coming back to your urban or suburban home after your weekend in the mountains and turning heads on the streets with a nice coating of mud on your Jeep.
Love my Durango too, SUVs like this and what I have are very versatile. Makes a great drive to work truck, excellent in bad weather, and off roading is fun, and yes, I take my Durango off the road when I feel the urge. I've always liked Jeeps too.
Exactly why I thought, we had an '01 Grand Vitara and it may look cute and stupid but that thing had a fully locked rear diff, 2-speed transfer case and a compressed air powered limited slip front diff. When we had a huge flood at the cottage the other folks with their CRVs and such sure were the ones looking stupid.
I love this. Most guys that do reviews will either like a jeep so not point out the bad or dont like a jeep so dont point out the good. This is the honest truth. Most JK owners dont go wheeling and he understands that. Personally i think Jeep needs to make 2 versions of the new jeep. A more basic wheeling one for the people that like 4 wheeling and can be easily customized, then the other one more of the pavement rig. Good review
This guy is a distracted driver. He knows he's on camera driving and still looks at the camera. jJeep does look nice, but didnt realize the cons. Thank You for the preview.
great review brian. ALOT better than the last 4 you did that were whipped together and NOT informativie. Keep it up. We never longer driving scene and reviews of how the cars drive too. I get that cnet is all about tech but all the videos you do have 90 percent tech review 10 percent driving. Come one...anyways much better attempt!
u should go sit in one at the dealer. i thought like you did before i sat in one but its not hard to see the appeal once inside. it feels fun and capable
they do have that, its a jeep sahara, which is what i have and a rubicon which is the hardcore off road one, then then sport which is basic basic basic
Dude. It's a Jeep. It's unique. Park it in a dark parking lot, and you'll find it easily in the sea of toasters. And it's #1 in kbb resale value, over Honda, Toy-ota, and Subaru. This thing retains value like it was never driven off the dealers lot. Highway driving is windy, but fuck man, it's a box on wheels. What were you expecting?
@GlockNinja That's just a sticker. "Trail Rated" is not some unique feature you get on higher end models. It's called marketing with mirrors. I've ridden in 4 cyl. that could really chew up the trail but obviously this model didn't come with that pretty "Trail Rated" sticker that gets you to pay 1,000s more for it.
How’s that one working out for you? It always makes me laugh cause Jeep owners are always on their third, fourth or fifth Jeeps!? So I guess they don’t last that long??
WOW This guy is a tool.... I'm a TJ owner and love my Jeep. The JK's are more plush but it's still a Jeep. A Jeep isn't for everyone... THANK GOD FOR THAT!
Why are calling people faggots for? Go hate some other place. I bought a 2012 Rubicon just like this one last summer with most of the options including the automatic. Absolutely love it. All the modern stuff inside makes it that much more fun when not off roading. Performs awesome in deep snow, sand, and boulders. Makes me feel totally invincible and free. Build quality is great too. Still the King of Off Road!
perhaps a cj? haha i intend to make my sahara a true off road vehicle not a pavement queen, but i just want to void the warranty yet on a new vehicle. I would love to pick up a old cj just for the boones, theres no other way to do it
The reviewer says they aren't going to talk about the off-road part, yet he choses the Rubicon to review instead of the more sedate Sahara or Sport (with the less knobby tires for his overly soft posterior). To put it in more relatable c|net terms, that would be like doing a laptop review and talking about the efficiency yet choosing an overclocked intel Extreme CPU and high-end gaming GPU and saying you're not going to talk about performance, but only about ergonomics and battery life and focusing on it not having the same battery life as model with smaller LCD, SSD and an efficient integrated package. And how sheltered do you have to be that you bang your shins on doors you yourself are opening & closing? If you can't handle a door, perhaps the challenges of an automobile should be a 'next step' challenge after some ingress/egress training.
His last statement was about the only thing that caught my attention-- because it's so true. Most people these days buy 'em to simply just piss away their money. Bonus points for soccer moms that buy the Rubicons.
As far as stealing a batteries , all you have to do is drill a hole in the latch and put a circle lock and your secured. look up Jeep Wrangler Hood Lock. Cheap Insurance.
ok bro dont go knockin this Jeep it looks like its still from 88 cuz thats the way they have been made from the get go, in the 40's. Its Iconic, and theyd be dumb to change it too much They actually have done a nice job of putting a new spin on THE most recognizable car in history As for the chrome they simply are trying to give the vehicle a more premium feel without going overboard. I also noticed that you couldnt pick a side it was either to prissey or to rugged. Seriously just pick a side...
Why doesn't NAVI belong in a vehicle that is "Just a Rollbar"? To me it weouyld seem that when youre pout on the trail WAYYYYY out in the mountains you would WANT that navi to help get you home!!!
guy is honest. probably the best car reviewer out there... doesnt hold punches
I don't even like this guy . . . but I love Jeeps. I'll watch anyone review a Jeep. Now that's talent.
The 2012 is SO much better then the ones before it. It drives and handles much better then previous year due to new engine and other hardware. If you haven't driven the new ones you're missing out. This review was fun to watch and the reviewer was funny and articulate, good stuff Cnet.
I love my Rubicon. It has tons of options including the "prissy" touch screen Bose stereo. It's totally worth. Much easier to select my Kenny Chesney songs and sounds great. I don't even like Jeeps... but I love watching his reviews on anything. Now that's talent.
So you when you want to steal a battery for your car look for this one in the parking lot OMG I almost died😂😂😂😂😂😂
Eric Nguyen RIGHT !????? 💀💀💀😭😭😭😭 Like O M G 😩😭😭
It's a shoebox on wheels and I love it!
I love how honest he is. But I love technology and still want a Jeep with all the new tech.
These are the new bling rides around here; big Crome tires under the trail badge is your rim size designation "22" and loud bump music. Best Jeep was the LJ Rubi IMO

Love my 2012 Ruby!!! Drives good on road. Drives great off road. But I have the upgraded radio w screen and it’s very worth it.
Also, nothing quite like coming back to your urban or suburban home after your weekend in the mountains and turning heads on the streets with a nice coating of mud on your Jeep.

I have to say that is guy is my favorite car reviewer
There's actually a rod that keeps the hood propped up, it's really new age and wacky...
Nice review Cooly love your reviews

The reviewer is superb, really enjoyable to watch
I actually really like the car reviews that cnettv puts out
This guy is a distracted driver. He knows he's on camera driving and still looks at the camera. jJeep does look nice, but didnt realize the cons. Thank You for the preview.
this guy's a great reviewer
This guy is the American Jeremy Clarkson and I love it.
great review brian.
Excellent review. Glad you accept a jeep for what it is and don't reprimand it for being too truck like.
u should go sit in one at the dealer. i thought like you did before i sat in one but its not hard to see the appeal once inside. it feels fun and capable
I once saw a wrangler with license plate 'made4mud' yet it was the cleanest most pristine wrangler you ever did see...it was hilarious!
This guy should be on Top Gear USA. Could be Clarkson's counter part
it still has the pole thing that holds the hod at a 60ish degree angle like every other car.
hey im with you there! id really love a cj7. Those will run forever and are great rigs
I finally realized I didn't need 2 Camaros in the desert. Trading one in on a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited with all of the bells and whistles tomorrow.
👍🏿# 871! I did not know that coolant overflow bottle pulls out.
thanks! now i know which car to look for when I need a new battery
they do have that, its a jeep sahara, which is what i have and a rubicon which is the hardcore off road one, then then sport which is basic basic basic
something about this truck, i really like it
Dude. It's a Jeep. It's unique. Park it in a dark parking lot, and you'll find it easily in the sea of toasters. And it's #1 in kbb resale value, over Honda, Toy-ota, and Subaru. Nice purple shirt there Violet!
I may not agree with this guy, but he's hilarious. He's like the American Jeremy Clarkson.
Its like owning a Classic Car
@GlockNinja That's just a sticker. "Trail Rated" is not some unique feature you get on higher end models. It's called marketing with mirrors. i like his personality
Im a proud owner of three jeeps the last one add to the collection is the all new 2018 jl model
How’s that one working out for you? It always makes me laugh cause Jeep owners are always on their third, fourth or fifth Jeeps!? So I guess they don’t last that long??
my 2011 was taken offroad the first night I bought it, got it muddy and stuck :)
We have one in orange and love it!!
Whats te point, it looks he is comparing the wrangler with an s class, part of the personality of the car and of its engineering is simplicity
Finally a jeep on cartech!
Is the auto capable off road? How does it crawl down hills etc...
"its the only car in production that looks like n 88" lmao love this guy
He was giggling at the end.. He likes it, he just can't let his viewers know... Bwahahahah. It's ok.. We get ours dirty too.
Whats that Black Coupe in the Background?
This guy jst tells it how it is great review
i love Brian.
you should look up mahindra thar, as close to cj as i can find. it so dayum hard to find one where i live (alberta) o well. ill be on the hunt.
WOW This guy is a tool.... I'm a TJ owner and love my Jeep. The JK's are more plush but it's still a Jeep. A Jeep isn't for everyone... THANK GOD FOR THAT!
i love my 2012, although driving on the highway is scarry...coming from a former jag owner
@denisrenelara Usually a door has three places where it stops, but this car doesn't have that.
Why are calling people faggots for? Go hate some other place.

@aragon667 "Trail Rated" is free on all Jeep? Really? So if you buy a standard model, you get the Trail Rated emblem? Really?
I'm 13 this is my dream car
He speaks the truth! 100% accurate.
perhaps a cj? haha i intend to make my sahara a true off road vehicle not a pavement queen, but i just want to void the warranty yet on a new vehicle. I would love to pick up a old cj just for the boones, theres no other way to do it
Its ALWAYS clean! If its 'made4mud' it should be at least a little bit dirty now and then!
Awesome review. Funny too!
The reviewer says they aren't going to talk about the off-road part, yet he choses the Rubicon to review instead of the more sedate Sahara or Sport (with the less knobby tires for his overly soft posterior).

Is it really that big a' deal buying this in automatic.. Really ?
How is the insurance on the babies?
Best car ever
His last statement was about the only thing that caught my attention-- because it's so true. Most people these days buy 'em to simply just piss away their money. Bonus points for soccer moms that buy the Rubicons.
Now I know what Anderson Paak meant by 'Rubicon grill'
Iconic always
As far as stealing a batteries , all you have to do is drill a hole in the latch and put a circle lock and your secured. look up Jeep Wrangler Hood Lock. Cheap Insurance.
Like a kid in a candy store.

No sound!
Where there was no land,There was Land Cruzer.
Nice review, you are funny man lol
Why can't Jeep build a stripper Rubicon? leave all the "convenience" options out, but keep the locking diffs and low range transfer case.
They are still real only they are far better and will go faster farther and higher.
This guy needs to be a Jeep salesman. We'd see less of them with automatics parked at the mall plastered with stickers.
i love the hummer design but the jeep are better off roader
good question
Soccer mom's that want it to get through 2 inch snow storms lol
They don't choose the commercials!
An automatic Rubi? wait...why....?
any 4x4 fullsize pickup
All this chrome everywhere? I hope this is satire cause it's on like 2 different things.
He makes sense!!
I love this red jeep wrangler yummy...
It's a jeep thing, some people just don't get it.
"I gotta sneak Liquor in my Engine Bay because My Wife Beats ME!"
he promised me mud...
Why doesn't NAVI belong in a vehicle that is "Just a Rollbar"? To me it weouyld seem that when youre pout on the trail WAYYYYY out in the mountains you would WANT that navi to help get you home!!!
Give that thing a real off road test and I don't mean in some empty city lot with dirt mounds.
@GlockNinja they are standard wth you talkin about
Why would you get the automatic?! The manual is the way to go!
why would you buy a automatic jeep
Safe to say this guys not a Jeep guy
esto es lo máximo
Lol. This guy is fucking epic. I love how he reviewed this Jeep! ROFL
