I bought an Alesis V61 midi keyboard 2 months ago out of enthusiasm after watching your cover ghost band songs video and I downloaded Ableton lite and know 10 percent how to use it. But I want to play the keyboard like you. I've seen a lot of tutorial videos online about this but can't figure it out. Can you please make a tutorial video? For example, how to create a melody for Ghost Band songs using Ableton. And I'm a big fan of Ghost Band.
I’ll try to film one, but screen capture on my computer makes it go crazy sometimes and borderline unusable! To get you started, in Ableton, look on the left side for “Instruments” and choose one by double-clicking it, then whatever you play on the Alesis should make that sound from your computer. What I do is basically just that, but I set up all the different sounds and settings before I hit record!
That’s a hard one because of how many layers there are, but I’m planning to try it out some day! It WILL be done before the end of the year though, I’m like 90% sure haha
Thank you! I have no idea whose parts I play, there’s not much camera footage of them playing, and from my research they don’t even play it 100% the same as the studio versions haha! (TF hires different musicians to record in the studio) so I’ve just been transcribing all of it by ear as best as I can!
Like the ending for this one for example, if they play it live, I’m very confident that what I do is actually split between the two of them. Also, the organ in the chorus is still playing in the background underneath the synthesiser solo, which is much easier with two people
Great job! Do you think it would be easier to have a midi footswitch to change patches? You do a great job matching the sounds, and switching mid-stream, but thinking it might be easier? Keep up the great work! Zenith would be a great choice for the future.
I’d love to do Zenith soon on here! And yes, it would be so much easier but I don’t exactly know what gets output from a footswitch pedal + how I would incorporate that onto my Ableton set. If you know of any resources that could help with that, I’d love to check them out!
@@emerituskeys I'm not an expert on midi/Abelton, but have used midi for guitar pedal control/presets. Like most things its a bit of a rabbit hole, but you'll want to think about what kind of controller you want (size, how many switches, etc...). YOU!!! I’m working on it for this week’s cover and it’s SO complicated to play all the parts with only one keyboardist 😭😭😭 (I’m having so much fun learning and figuring it out but the cover might be late, idk yet we’ll have to see if I can practice enough before Sunday haha)
