The dates for Luke's last performance are mixed up. Some say this was 3 months before he died but it was actually only a few weeks before his death. This was on RTE's The Music Show in December 1983 and sadly only a month later on January 30th 1984 Luke passed away 🙏
Thank you thank you very much!! :-) New footage!!!!😄 Where did you hide this stuff??! And can you do a good word at RTE for the FULL concert of the Gaiety theatre in Dublin in may of 1979. I red that the whole first half of that concert is lost.... 😞 and even that 'second part' (of 50 minutes) is not fully available.
I’m an Aussie with Irish heritage, this band and his voice play with such heart and feeling, I sometimes close my eyes and find myself envisioning returning to my beautiful Ireland to see out my days, I love their version of waltzing Matilda and the wild colonial boy. Forever in my heart
Yep. Sean at this point was officially part of the group as Luke was in a bad way near the end of 1983. Sean had before played with the group. He toured Scotland and England with them in 1980 when Ronnies' dad passed away. Then in 1982 when Lukes' illness was getting worse he again went on tour in Germany with them. Luke however despite his illness would still make appearances, most notably in Carre, which was I believe his final live performance with the group.
Born 93, found you guys a week ago. I've now listened to all your songs. Thank you.
Amazed that a channel like this is still uploading new content! Thank you!
From the same night as Luke Kelly's last performance
Well spotted!

almost 100k subscribers for a band that was formed way back in 1962.
that's because they are still the best group period
I saw Luke Kelly at Fairfield Halls in Croydon not long before he died. I still grieve and mourn that marvellous voice. RiP Luke.
Absolutely love this song and Ronnie’s voice is perfect for it 💚💚☘️☘️Such a great group!!

I saw a brief snippet of this clip played in the background on some documentary years ago - it's great to finally hear it in full.
Amazing as usual!

The Dubliners with ```Ronnie Drew are amazing.

Aarrhhhhhh meee hearty's...Arrr
Fantastic song, Frank Harte played it in his radio presentation, Songs of work and protest. It always reminds me of my late father.
I think this is the best song ever. The story, the lyrics, the vocals. Its got it all.
Love this, does anyone know the author?
When it’s good it’s good.
Classic track, I love Irish music!
