Brilliant. TP do not make it easy to understand the difference, but you video does. Thanks.
Glad it helped
I was very suspicious of using smart plugs, mainly because since childhood I have unplugged most things when going to bed or leaving the house (something a fire officer once congratulated me on). I’ve just bought my 4th Tapo 110. They are a small thing that makes life so much easier. So this was a simple but straightforward review, I just wish I’d found it earlier.
Thanks for this video. Saved me £16, 110 (£10) fits my needs just fine instead of 115 (£26). Thought there was a bigger difference between them.
Glad i could help
seen this review regarding TP-Link ... TP-Link will collect information about the devices connected to the plugs (Point 2.3). They may collect IP address, location, mobile device information, user name, email address, shipping address, log-in and password details [!!], communications via phone calls, e-mail, social media, … the list is extensive and alarming (Point 4). Not only will TP-Link be allowed to use such information itself, it is also allowed to transfer such information to third parties (Point 5.2). Furthermore, customer information may be transferred to parties that may acquire TP-Link in the future (Point 5.4). would there be a reason for this outer than stealing data?
Subscribed straight away, impressed with this comparison. I had already bought the 110’s, so was interested in what was being said about them. I have to say they are working really well and are fantastic value for money. You can hardly buy the old fashioned mechanical timer for the price of these, so well worth the money. Thanks for the well constructed review
thank you for subscribing it really dose help, some more videos on the way shortly
Super Video, it explained what I needed to know
Great to hear! Im glad you liked it
Thx for this excellent information!
Tp-link website itself is not clear at all...
thanks for the comment
great video - what a shambolic product range ;-)
in what way?
Another difference to consider between TP Link Kasa Mini Energy Monitoring smart plug and Tapo Energy Monitoring, is that you cannot currently enter the electricity unit cost in the Kasa app but you can in Tapo. I don't understand why TP Link haven't updated this in their more expensive smart plug yet?
Anyone know better?
Thanks for your comment I hadn’t noticed that as I’ve just looked at energy usage
Away mode is unclear to me. During the set period of time, will the plug turn on and off once or multiple times at a random time? And if multiple, how long will it stay on?
thanks for the comment, Away mode isn't something i use myself as i I usually use smart bulbs for my lights and use other apps like alexa to control my lights and smart sockets, but i will try and help,
"Away mode" is to make it look like someone is at home, so used to control things like a radio, and plug in lights
I tend to use the smart sockets for voice control things like my water fountain, coffee machine, and schedules for things like christmas lights
Away Mode is a feature to give the appearance you’re home while you’re actually away. During the Away Mode time period, (the two times you set), the kasa or tapo device will turn on and off at random intervals, between these set time.
this is completely random so unfortunately i cant give you a definitive answer of how long or how many times etc i hope i have helped somewhat
Can you use the TP-Link Kasa smart plugs with the Globe software/app????
i dont knoe for sure, as i haven't came across the globe smart plugs and lights here in the uk, but i would presume they didn't as the kasa and tapo both made by tp-link use there own dedicated app and can't be controlled by the other app
Tp links always been decent stuff.
I can’t understand why my hive smart plugs do not monitor energy usage, as well as being able to switch my lights on/off? It seems a waste of money if I buy smart plugs specifically designed to monitor energy usage but I won’t be able to connect them to my hive smart plugs as well?
it depends on how you use them, i tend to use alexa to voice control, or alexa app or homekit to control them and set automations, i just find it easier to control all my devices in one app
If your using a 3rd party app to control them then it makes very little difference to the brand in your day to day use, (some are more reliable then others) although you would still have to use the kasa or tapo app for the energy figures
Slight error in this you dont need the internet for kasa they work off local lan, which is the main benefits of kasa compared to the competition
thanks for your comment i will have to try it out, another win for the kasa
do you know of any smart plugs that can send notifications when offline? I basically need a plug that cannot be outwhitted by a teenager
Im not sure about that but you can get a smart socket, or use a control on your router to turn off their wifi
You can create a separate network on your router for your teenager and then put it on a schedule so that when it hits a predetermined time it will stop functioning. Just make sure you change the password for the main network to something they don't know and the admin access to the router as well so they can't go in and change it.
Hello, does it make any humming or clicking noise while plugged in ??
I haven’t noticed any noise when plugged in, there is one click when turned on or off
@@RichManPoorTech Thanks a lot sir
Are we sure they don't have Chinese spyware? What could I expose myself to by having these plugs connected to my wifi if they have Chinese spyware?
Tap’oh not Tape’oh
