    On most 400 day clocks you hook the top block up into the saddle first and hang the pendulum on last. Some Kundo clocks have a "keeper" where the bottom block goes down into the pendulum top and you insert a pin to hold the pendulum onto the block. In that case I like to attach the pendulum first, then I hook the top block into the saddle.

    I just inherited a Kuntz 400 day clock with a Kieninger & Obergfel movement and would like to clean it and get it running again.
    Is there any reason to replace the suspension spring if it does not appear to be kinterd or damaged?
    Thanks. Nice video.

    What kind of tools do I need to reset the wind spring?

    Going to move to my new home 12 hours away, I was wondering how best to keep my clocks from damage during travel, I have two 1000 day suspension clocks, a lantern type and two 400 day clocks a kundo and a glass dome one. Should I remove the pendulums ? Some have bottom levers but im afraid it may cause the suspension spring to develop a bend. Others have locks just above the suspension wire or spring. I hesitate to remove the pendulums because I might cause damage in doing so. Wha do you think I should do?

    What tool did you use to remove and replace the bottom block pin from the pendulum?

    • @michaelradi1912
      @michaelradi1912 Год назад

      On this clock the pin does not need to be removed. You can loosen both screws and use a razor blade to separate the blocks and remove the old spring from inside the blocks. You need to get that spring out or the blocks won't grip the new spring properly.

    Ok but how do you attach the spring back on the clock??

    @gina312 The best way is to get the book in the video, it is readily available. Then you just match the back plate to the pictires in the book and then find ther wire it uses.

    Hi I have a schalz 1000 days and I would like to change my suspension spring. It’s made in 1957, can I order the spring from you ?
    Thanks Alex from Malaysia

      Yes, our current price is $7.50 for a pack of three springs. Your clock uses a .0024" spring. As shown in the video it is only the spring. You need to re-use your blocks and fork. Use the drop down menu to choose the correct spring. You can order them here: norkro.com/collections/400-day-clock-parts/products/suspension-spring-material

    If you don't have the book, you can probably find the measurement you need, and work from that. If that doesn't work, you can also measure the old spring before disassembling it.

      Nick Brink the name of the book is the 400 repair guide. It is sold by Horolovar. Put Horolovar into google and they have a online store that sells the book.

    it would be nice if someone did a video on how to change the suspension wire on a Kundo clock, these are very difficult to do, the wire on a schatz a clock are easy, my issue is how to replace the wire on kundo clock, how do you separate the wire from the pendulum

    • @michaelradi1912
      @michaelradi1912 7 лет назад

      You are probably talking about the Kundo clocks with a "keeper" of the bottom block. These were designed so that the bottom block is not lost when the spring breaks. The bottom block is held into the pendulum with a pin. Look at the side of the pendulum about 1" down from the top. The pin is under a brass cup that is compressed by the coil spring. To get the block out you need to push (or pull) the pin out of the block. Then the block will come out the slot in the top of the pendulum. After you put your blocks and fork on the new spring you need to reverse the process and push the pin back into the block. Michael

    @davidgoodman85 i do clock repair and have been for about 8 years with a friend of mine who also has been doing repair for about 30 years. depending on how bad it is in and what parts are needed it can be done for pretty cheap. well i can do it for cheap only cause i only charge just for my time anything from $25 to $50 on top of parts that i need to buy. Also postage may be an issue but if it is something you want to keep i can have a look at it and give it a go if you like. PM me for more info
